Mariners | Austin Jackson back up top

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 15:44:04 -0700

Seattle Mariners OF Austin Jackson is back in the leadoff spot Thursday, July 2, against the Oakland Athletics and LHP Scott Kazmir. 1B Logan Morrison will hit seventh in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Jackson ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is hitting .319 against southpaws this season, with just six strikeouts in 51 plate appearances. Jackson will offer some cap relief to FantasyScore owners, to go with a fair measure of upside.

Mariners | Logan Morrison will not start

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 10:56:03 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Logan Morrison is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Sunday, June 28. SS Willie Bloomquist will start at first base and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Morrison ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) probably is sitting out because of the left-handed pitcher on the mound. Bloomquist ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting only .130 in limited at-bats this month and probably should be avoided by owners on FantasyScore.

Mariners | Logan Morrison dropped down order

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 15:46:00 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Logan Morrison is batting sixth against San Francisco Giants SP Madison Bumgarner Wednesday, June 17.

Fantasy Tip: Morrison ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has a .197/.246/.213 slash line against southpaws this season, and Bumgarner isn't your run-of-the-mill lefty. FantasyScore players can safely fade Morrison Wednesday.

Mariners | Logan Morrison leading off

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 15:14:40 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Logan Morrison is batting first and playing first base against San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson Monday, June 15.

Fantasy Tip: Morrison ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has put together a solid run at the plate over his last 19 games. During the stretch, he has a .320 batting average, but it has been a rather empty average. Morrison has just four runs, two home runs and eight RBI. Plus, going cheap at first base isn't always the best strategy in FantasyScore contests.

Mariners | Logan Morrison has big day

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 07:44:33 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Logan Morrison had two home runs and a career high five RBI Saturday, June 13, against the Houston Astros.

Fantasy Tip: Morrison ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) homered for the first time since May 12, although he has been able to maintain an adequate on-base percentage. Morrison can be used in GPP against right-handed pitching, but owners may want to wait to see if the power is back to stay.

Mariners | Logan Morrison demoted to seventh

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 15:11:23 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Logan Morrison is batting seventh against Houston Astros SP Brett Oberholtzer Friday, June 12. OF Austin Jackson is leading off and playing center field Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Morrison ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) is one game removed from a 16-game hitting streak, but while he hit first the past three games, he doesn't profile as your typical leadoff man. Morrison receives a slight value hit, but it is worth noting, much of his success during the hitting streak came batting lower in the order. Jackson's ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) fantasy value alters little. After all, he has spent the majority of the season leading off. Both hitters are worth considering for FantasyScore lineups, with Jackson presenting nice upside at his low cap hit.

Mariners | Logan Morrison's streak ends

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 14:41:36 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Logan Morrison went 0-for-3 in the loss Thursday, June 11, ending his career high hitting streak at 16 games against the Cleveland Indians. Morrison is now hitting .255 on the season.

Fantasy Tip: Morrison ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) was hitting .349 (22-for-63) with three RBI during his hitting streak, and he's been seeing time as the club's leadoff hitter, which has raised his FantasyScore intrigue. Only consider Morrison in daily games against right-handed pitchers, though, as he's hitting just .200 (11-for-55) against southpaws with no home runs and only two RBI.

Mariners | Logan Morrison extends hit streak to 15

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 20:36:47 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Logan Morrison extended his active hitting streak to 15 games during the Mariners' 3-2 win over the Cleveland Indians Tuesday, June 9. Morrison went 2-for-5 during the game with a double and a RBI.

Fantasy Tip: While it is currently the longest hitting streak in the league, Morrison ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has only two runs and a RBI during the run, so the counting stats leave a lot to be desired. Still, he has raised his batting average 40 points during the streak, and he has even received looks leading off, as he did Tuesday. The counting stats and fantasy value will follow, if Morrison continues to do work at the dish. At his cap hit and in his current form, he is a solid FantasyScore play.

Mariners | Logan Morrison batting leadoff Tuesday

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 11:34:04 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Logan Morrison is hitting in the leadoff spot Tuesday, June 9, against the Cleveland Indians.

Fantasy Tip: Morrison ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) has hit in the leadoff spot before with some success. He has a .273 average (3-for-11) from that position, which is worse than his averages batting fifth (.333) and sixth (.278). He is hitting .286 against the Cleveland Indians, so the team may want to see if he can jump start the lineup.

Mariners | Logan Morrison back in leadoff spot

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 16:25:58 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Logan Morrison is back in the leadoff spot against Tampa Bay Rays SP Jake Odorizzi Friday, June 5.

Fantasy Tip: Morrison ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) gains some fantasy value with the potential for more at-bats at the top of the order. He's hitting .261 (35-for-134) with all six of his home runs against right-handed pitchers this year, but he's also only hitting .216 in the pitcher-friendly confines of Safeco Field. Odorizzi has been stellar at limiting homers, though, and he hasn't allowed any to lefties this season. Morrison profiles as a weaker first base option tonight.
