Rays | Three-hit game for LoMo

Sat, 25 Jun 2016 21:31:19 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 1B Logan Morrison went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in Game 2 of a doubleheader Saturday, June 25, against the Baltimore Orioles.

Fantasy Tip: Morrison has hit safely in four straight games with two doubles and two RBIs. Despite the uptick offensively, he is still hitting just .238 overall and is only worth a look in the deepest of AL-only fantasy leagues.

Rays | Logan Morrison streaking

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 17:49:24 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 1B Logan Morrison homered for the third consecutive game, going 2-for-5 with two home runs, three RBI and two runs scored in a 7-5 win over the Minnesota Twins Sunday, June 5, extending his hitting streak to nine games.

Fantasy Tip: Morrison is going to regress sooner rather than later, but ride his hot bat for as long as it lasts in DFS games.

Rays | Logan Morrison continues hot hitting

Wed, 25 May 2016 21:34:31 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 1B Logan Morrison went 3-for-4 with his third home run of the season Wednesday, May 25, against the Miami Marlins. He finished with a run scored and three RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Well, after an absolutely dreadful start to the year, Morrison has managed to turn it around in a big way. On May 15, he was saddled with a disastrous .119 batting average, but since then, the 28-year-old has gone 15-for-27 with all three of his homers, as well as 10 RBI over that stretch. Owners in deep leagues should pay attention to see if he can keep it up.

Rays | Logan Morrison perfect at plate

Tue, 24 May 2016 20:09:02 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 1B Logan Morrison went 3-for-3 with two runs scored against the Miami Marlins Tuesday, May 24.

Fantasy Tip: Morrison has been playing better later with at least one hit in seven of his last eight games and five hits in his last three games. Morrison should be a decent option in daily fantasy leagues during his hot streak but can still be avoided in most leagues.

Rays | Three Tampa regulars out vs. lefty

Mon, 16 May 2016 14:01:12 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Brad Miller, OF Corey Dickerson and 1B Logan Morrison are not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays left-handed SP J.A. Happ Monday, May 16. SS Taylor Motter is starting at the 6 and is in the two-hole, while OF Brandon Guyer is serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff. 1B Steve Pearce is at first base and is hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Happ has pitched excellent this year, so it's a tough draw for the Tampa hitters Monday night. Guyer (.351/.444/.703 this month) and Pearce do have sleeper appeal, though, and both are in great lineups spots to return some value. Motter was hitting only .190 with four home runs and 10 RBI at Class AAA Durham before being called up, so he's a desperation daily play.

Rays | Corey Dickerson, Logan Morrison out

Fri, 13 May 2016 14:22:27 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Corey Dickerson and 1B Logan Morrison are not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics left-handed SP Rich Hill Friday, May 13. OF Brandon Guyer is serving as the designated hitter and is batting leadoff, while 1B Steve Pearce is starting at first base and is hitting cleanup.

Fantasy Tip: Guyer has played considerably well (.345/.472/.517) with two home runs and four RBI in limited playing time off the bench and could see more time if Desmond Jennings continues to struggle. Guyer is a decent value play in daily contests and is worth a look as a pickup in deep mixed and AL-only leagues if he continues to play every day. Pearce has some pop and has four of his five homers off lefties, making him an acceptable sleeper pick in DFS, as well.

Rays | Logan Forsythe out Wednesday

Wed, 11 May 2016 09:58:19 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) is out of the lineup Wednesday, May 11, with OF Brandon Guyer hitting leadoff again. 1B Logan Morrison draws a start, and he's hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Guyer is hitting .321, but he has two homers, three doubles, four RBI, nine runs and no steals. That doesn't give him much upside in DFS against Taijuan Walker. The average is cool, but singles don't do it in daily games. LoMo is hitting .120 with no RBI in 75 at-bats. Pass on him.

Rays | Steve Pearce gets night off

Mon, 09 May 2016 15:41:22 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 1B Steve Pearce (rest) is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 9, versus Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez. 1B Logan Morrison is in his place at first base batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Talk about throwing a struggling player to the wolves. Morrison has been as bad as any player this year at the plate, as he's recorded just eight hits in 70 total at-bats, good for a .114 batting average. Now he has to face The King in front of his court. Pearce is obviously the better player to own right now, but he's more of an option for the deepest formats.

Rays | Desmond Jennings not in the lineup

Sun, 08 May 2016 10:56:07 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Desmond Jennings is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Nick Tropeano Sunday, May 8. OF Corey Dickerson will start at left field. 1B Logan Morrison will serve as the designated hitter, while 1B Steve Pearce will start at first base and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Pearce has gone 5-for-12 with two home runs and four RBI over the last seven days and could be a decent starting option in most fantasy leagues.

Rays | Steve Pearce, Brandon Guyer out

Sat, 07 May 2016 14:44:06 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 1B Steve Pearce and OF Brandon Guyer are out of the lineup Saturday, May 7, with 1B Logan Morrison hitting sixth and OF Desmond Jennings hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: LoMo has the most at-bats in the majors, 64, without an RBI. He's not a stout option against Jered Weaver. Jennings hasn't really turned it on either, but Weaver isn't nearly as menacing as he used to be. Jennings is a basement flyer tonight.
