Fantasy Tip: You can now officially drop Medlen from your roster if you drafted him prior to the injury.

Atlanta Braves SPs Kris Medlen (elbow) and Brandon Beachy (elbow) are scheduled to visit Dr. James Andrews Monday, March 17. Medlen has been preparing for the news he needs a second Tommy John surgery. Beachy is now facing the possibility of having his second procedure. Beachy was told earlier this week his ligament was fine and his biceps was damaged, which is what he passed along to the media.
Fantasy Tip: Beachy's prognosis isn't clear, but it appears he has a better chance to escape a devastating diagnosis than Medlen does. Beachy owners won't want to take chances, though, and should start piling up alternatives in case he has to miss the 2014 campaign, as well.

Atlanta Braves SP Kris Medlen (elbow) is highly likely to require a second Tommy John surgery. The right-hander said he felt it during his third-to-last pitch in his start Sunday, March 9, but threw two more pitches because he didn't want to face reality and come out of the game.
Fantasy Tip: The Ervin Santana signing indicates that the Braves have joined Medlen in accepting what's about to come. Medlen's fantasy owners should line up alternatives and be prepared to drop him upon hearing the news. He should be removed from all cheat sheets, as well.

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Braves SP Kris Medlen's (elbow) MRI revealed damage around the right elbow ligament but was difficult to decipher because of Medlen's previous Tommy John surgery. The club will seek another opinion and wait a few more days to make a move regarding Medlen's status.
Fantasy Tip: This report points more directly toward the notion that Medlen could miss the entire 2014 season. Keep posted here for more, but fantasy owners who are drafting in the near future will want to avoid him unless he's a final-round stab.

Atlanta Braves SP Kris Medlen's (forearm) MRI test results showed "some involvement of the ligament." He'll receive a second opinion and additional testing.
Fantasy Tip: While this report isn't entirely clear, anything involving bad news with a ligament doesn't sound promising. It's looking like he'll start the season on the disabled list, at least, if not have to go on a dreaded visit to Dr. James Andrews. The Braves will start planning ahead on SP alternatives.

The Atlanta Braves are dealing with several injuries to their rotation, and if SPs Brandon Beachy (elbow), Kris Medlen (forearm) and Mike Minor (shoulder) are all not ready for the regular season, SP David Hale might find himself breaking camp with the team and opening the regular season in the starting rotation.

Atlanta Braves SP Kris Medlen (forearm) underwent an MRI exam Monday, March 10, but it's unclear when the team will now the results of the tests.

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Braves SP Kris Medlen (forearm) has a strained right forearm. He will be re-evaluated Monday, March 10.
Fantasy Tip: His reaction on the mound wasn't pretty. At the very least, this puts his status for the start of the season very much in jeopardy. His departure would create an opening for David Hale, who could be useful in NL-only leagues. We don't want to spread a big cloud of negativity, but we would suggest treading carefully if drafting Medlen.
