Athletics | Danny Valencia stays on a roll

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 22:59:31 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia went 3-for-4 with a walk and a run scored Monday, June 27, against the San Francisco Giants to push his average to .335.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia has hit safely in six of the past seven. He also has multi-hit games in 10 of the past 25 games to raise his average from .296 to .335 since May 27. He has emerged as a must-start fantasy option in all AL-only leagues, some deeper mixed formats and DFS play.

Athletics | Danny Valencia plates three

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 06:51:00 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and three RBI during the Athletics' 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Saturday, June 25.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia hasn't slowed down yet and sits with an incredible .333/.381/.552 slash line for the season. Next to his 35 runs, 11 home runs and 30 RBI it is quite a stat line and worth starting in all setups. Those looking to utilize Valencia in daily contests should note eight of his 11 long flies have come on the road.

Mets | NYM interested in Danny Valencia

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 18:07:52 -0700

The New York Mets have expressed interest in trading for Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia, in the wake of 3B David Wright (neck) opting to undergo neck surgery that could sideline him for the remainder of the 2016 season.

Fantasy Tip: The 31-year-old Valencia is enjoying a career year, batting .327 with 10 home runs and 26 RBI in 171 at-bats entering play Friday, June 17, and he is a viable option in all fantasy formats. INF Wilmer Flores, who is receiving the bulk of the action at third base for the Mets now, would revert back to being used as a super-utility player if Valencia is acquired.

Athletics | Danny Valencia homers in win

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 15:36:36 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia hit a solo home run in a 6-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday, June 12. Valencia entered the game with a .338 batting average and .570 slugging percentage.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia has been one of the red-hot players on an otherwise tepid Athletics squad. He is worth playing in all formats. With 10 home runs this season, he is well on the way to matching the 18 hit in 105 games last year.

Athletics | Danny Valencia, Khris Davis back

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 11:38:15 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia (illness) and OF Khris Davis (elbow) are both back in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds SP Anthony DeSclafani Friday, June 10. Valencia is hitting cleanup, while Davis is hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia has missed time this year with an injury, but when on the field he's been great for fantasy owners with a .343/.387/.580 slash line, nine home runs and 22 RBI. Return him to starting lineups everywhere. Davis has missed several games after being hit in his elbow. He has 14 long balls and 36 RBI but is hitting just .234. He's a contrarian pick in DFS tonight, but you may want to let him get settled back in before reinserting him in traditional formats.

Athletics | Danny Valencia out again vs. Brewers

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 12:52:17 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia (illness) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 8. 1B Yonder Alonso is starting at third base and batting sixth, and DH Billy Butler is starting at first base and batting fifth against Milwaukee Brewers SP Chase Anderson Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia has missed some time this season and been limited to just 155 plate appearances, but he's made the most of them and posted a .343/.387/.580 slash line with 26 runs, nine home runs and 22 RBI. He should be owned in all fantasy formats. Alonso and Butler are low-end options in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues, and you likely should aim higher in daily contests Wednesday.

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 14:44:35 -0700

Updating a previous report, Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia (illness) is dealing with a stomach bug and is out of the starting lineup Tuesday, June 7.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia has been great for fantasy owners with a .343/.387/.580 slash line with nine home runs and 22 RBI in 39 games for the A's. Expect him to return to the lineup any day now. With he and Khris Davis out Tuesday, Brewers starter Zach Davies should be a popular stream option.

Athletics | Danny Valencia not starting Tuesday

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 12:46:12 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia is not starting Tuesday, June 7, against the Milwaukee Brewers. 1B Yonder Alonso is shifting to third for this game and will bat sixth against Brewers SP Zach Davies.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia is on a tear at the plate with a .343-9-22 line, but the team wants to give him a night off. Alonso is 6-for-15 in the past week with two doubles and has done pretty well at the plate in the past three games. He is worth a flyer in DFS formats.

Mets could explore other 3B options

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 10:21:55 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (neck) has a herniated disk that will require up to two months of rest and most likely will keep him sidelined through the majority of August. As a result, the team may look to explore other options at the hot corner outside of the organization, specifically Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia and Minnesota Twins 3B Trevor Plouffe.

Fantasy Tip: It's not looking good for the longtime Met, as he was also dealing with spinal stenosis in his back, which was the area of concern last year when he missed 124 ballgames. His owners have to be expecting the worst outcome concerning Wright. While Wilmer Flores is expected to get the first crack at the job in the interim, New York would probably be better off adding someone the caliber of Plouffe and Valencia, who are both more proven. Both should be available, with their respective teams not expected to contend for the postseason.
