Blue Jays | Michael Saunders sitting against lefty

Thu, 30 Apr 2015 12:32:35 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Michael Saunders is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 30. OF Danny Valencia is starting in right field and hitting fifth in the batting order against Cleveland Indians SP T.J. House.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has been hitting well in the early going, batting .455 (10-for-22), and his placement near the middle of this potent lineup shouldn't be overlooked today. It also should be noted that Valencia has excelled against lefties in his career, batting .333 against them. House has been roughed up often in 2015, too.

Blue Jays | Dalton Pompey sitting Tuesday

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 11:54:26 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays OF Dalton Pompey is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 28. 3B Danny Valencia is starting in left field and hitting seventh in the batting order against Boston Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is off to a fast start in limited duty in 2015, going 9-for-17 (.529). Despite his great start, Valencia is a low-end FantasyScore name at the hot corner against Buchholz. Valencia hit just .211 (32-for-152) with two of his four home runs against right-handers in 2014.

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 12:57:27 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 3B Danny Valencia is starting at third base and batting fifth against the Tampa Bay Rays Friday, April 24.

Fantasy Tip: With southpaw Drew Smyly on the hill, and making his season debut, Valencia ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) is worth a speculative dice roll in FantasyScore contests Friday. He is hitting behind the teams top four hitters, and he has a .332/.371/.508 slash line against left-handed pitchers for his career.

Blue Jays | Danny Valencia draws into lineup

Thu, 09 Apr 2015 13:36:06 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 3B Danny Valencia is starting at first base and batting sixth against the New York Yankees Thursday, April 9.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) slashed .321/.371/.464 against left-handed pitchers last season and makes for a viable low-priced flier in daily contests, especially with his spot in the lineup. Opposing pitcher C.C. Sabathia doesn't instill the fear he once did, either

Blue Jays | Toronto left field job wide open

Thu, 26 Feb 2015 16:14:36 -0800

Toronto Blue Jays OFs Ezequiel Carrera, Chris Dickerson and Andy Dirks (back), 1B Chris Colabello and 3B Danny Valencia are expected to compete for the vacant left field job during spring training. Driks will continue to rehab a back injury and is not expected to resume baseball activity for the next seven to 10 days, according to general manager Alex Anthopoulos, and manager John Gibbons does not expect Dirks to be able to adequately compete for the position due to his injury.

Fantasy Tip: This is a position battle to monitor, but the winner won't be a viable option in the majority of mixed leagues. In the long term, Dirks projects as the best fantasy option, but he'll have to prove his health and earn playing time first. Continue to check back for updates on who is the front-runner for the left field job.
