Athletics | Danny Valencia avoids arbitration

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 15:31:24 -0800

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia avoided arbitration Thursday, Jan. 14, by agreeing to a one-year, $3.15 million deal.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia played above his head in 2015, hitting a combined .290 with 18 home runs and 66 RBI with the Toronto Blue Jays and A's. He's likely to serve in a part-time role in Oakland at least against left-handed pitchers. It'll be hard for him to match his numbers, and a full season in Oakland will hurt his power output.

Athletics | Brett Lawrie on the block

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 23:36:08 -0800

Oakland Athletics 2B/3B Brett Lawrie and 3B Danny Valencia are on the trade block after the team acquired SS Jed Lowrie. Both are drawing interest from American League teams, but Lawrie is considered more likely to be dealt.

Fantasy Tip: Lawrie still has a lot of potential and is a MI candidate in traditional leagues wherever he plays.

Athletics | Danny Valencia plays well Friday

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 05:32:26 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI against the Seattle Mariners Friday, Oct. 2. He has recorded 34 RBI in 45 games with the Athletics, which is the most by a player that has played less than 50 games with the team.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) appears to have found a home with Oakland and should be in their plans for next season. Valencia should be a solid starting option for the final two games of the season.

Athletics | Brett Lawrie resting Friday

Fri, 25 Sep 2015 17:14:09 -0700

Oakland Athletics INF Brett Lawrie is not in the starting lineup against San Francisco Giants SP Mike Leake Friday, Sept. 25. Danny Valencia will bat cleanup and play third base, while Eric Sogard will bat second and play second base.

Fantasy Tip: Lawrie ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) should be removed from all starting lineups. Valencia ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) is batting .391 with two home runs and six RBIs over the past seven days, while Sogard ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is batting .318 with one home run and three RBIs during the month of September.

Athletics | Danny Valencia homers twice

Sat, 19 Sep 2015 05:07:31 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia went 3-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI against the Houston Astros Friday, Sept. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is hitting only .235 this month but does have four home runs and 14 RBI during that span. He should continue to see regular playing time and could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore.

Athletics | Danny Valencia returns

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 09:16:33 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia (shoulder) is back in the starting lineup and is hitting cleanup against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Thursday, Sept. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Despite missing the last several games with injury, Valencia ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is a noteworthy choice for your FantasyScore lineups. He's hitting .304 (35-for-115) with four home runs against left-handed pitchers this season and is in a perfect spot to drive in runs this afternoon.

Athletics | Danny Valencia out again

Wed, 16 Sep 2015 16:39:40 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia (shoulder) remains out of the lineup Wednesday, Sept. 16. 3B Brett Lawrie is starting at third base and batting sixth against Chicago White Sox SP Erik Johnson. 2B Eric Sogard draws another start at second base and is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Against Johnson, Lawrie ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) could certainly be a very strong value play on FantasyScore. Avoid the light-hitting Sogard ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) everywhere.

Athletics | Danny Valencia has trapezius injury

Tue, 15 Sep 2015 15:24:28 -0700

Updating a previous report, Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia (shoulder) was scratched from the lineup with a stiff trapezius muscle Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Fantasy Tip: With Valencia out, Max Muncy ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) enters the lineup. He hasn't done anything offensively this year in a backup role and shouldn't be in your FantasyScore lineups tonight.

Athletics | Danny Valencia not in lineup

Tue, 15 Sep 2015 13:52:29 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, Sept. 15. 1B Max Muncy is starting at the hot corner and is hitting sixth against Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija.

Fantasy Tip: The rookie Muncy ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is a desperation source of salary cap relief tonight, even against the struggling Samardzija. Muncy is batting .216 (19-for-88) with two home runs against right-handers this year.

Athletics | Danny Valencia hits well against Danks

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 10:06:17 -0700

Oakland Athletics 3B Danny Valencia is 8-for-27 (.296) with three doubles and a home run in his career against Chicago White Sox SP John Danks, who he faces Monday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is certainly one to consider tonight on FantasyScore as a value pick against the inconsistent Danks. Valencia is also hitting .310 (35-for-113) with four home runs against southpaws this season.
