Braves | Five RBI for Freddie Freeman

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 23:09:55 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman homered and drove in five runs Wednesday, July 27, in a 9-7 win over the Minnesota Twins.

Fantasy Tip: After a slow start Freeman has been on fire at the plate. With a line of .280-18-41, Freeman's RBI count is down, but compared to where he was at the start of the year people are genuinely happy. Freeman now belongs as a starting 1B in your fantasy format.

Braves | Freddie Freeman finally healthy

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 12:05:31 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (rib cage, back) said he is past the cracked left rib injury he sustained in a collision with Miami Marlins OF Christian Yelich Sunday, May 29. He also had a cancerous mole removed from his back during the All-Star break that caused some concerns for Freeman.

"There's been a lot of mental aspects I've had to learn this year and continue to tell myself, 'You're fine, just be yourself," Freeman said. "For some reason, I've got to remember to tell myself because I've had some weird injuries that affects everything on my swing."

Fantasy Tip: Freeman is 7-for-39 since the All-Star break with a .410 slugging percentage, and he has just 36 RBI for the season. His supporting cast is a hindrance to his fantasy upside, and Freeman is nothing more than a low-end starter at first base. The talent is there to be more, and Freeman was drafted as a mid-tier option at the position, but the results have been mediocre. It doesn't project to improve in 2016, either.

Braves | Freddie Freeman has two hits

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 04:34:31 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman picked up two hits Sunday, July 24, in a 7-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman is showing no signs of the recent cancerous mole that was removed from him. In fact, Freeman's .275 batting average and .507 slugging percentage are much better than his stats earlier in the season. Play Freeman in your lineup without hesitation.

Braves | Freddie Freeman reeling since break

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 12:15:04 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (rib cage) is 2-for-23 (.087) in six games since the All-Star break, with one home run, one RBI, two walks and 13 strikeouts. He insisted on playing through a recent rib-cage injury that prevented him from taking batting practice, which may have hindered his production at the plate.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Freeman is past the injury, but his struggles are a huge concern because his supporting cast aren't going to help his fantasy cause any. For the year, he sits with 45 runs, 17 home runs, 35 RBI and a .273/.360/.501 slash line. It isn't a complete disappointment, but given his preseason billing, more was expected.

Braves | Freddie Freeman ineffective vs. COL

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 15:17:08 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (back) struck out four times, stranded three runners and went 0-for-11 in the series against the Colorado Rockies.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman had a cancerous mole removed from his upper back. His mind may be on other things than baseball, but Freeman has come a long way at the plate from his bad start. The cancer should not play a big role in his hitting moving forward, but keep an eye on Freeman's luck at the plate.

Braves | Freddie Freeman has mole removed

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 18:15:54 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (back) had a cancerous mole removed from his back Tuesday, July 12, but doctors cleared him to return to the lineup against the Colorado Rockies Friday, July 15. He will have the stitches removed in approximately 10 days. Freeman's mother died from melanoma when he was nine years old and as a result, he receives more frequent exams due to his family's medical history. "It's kind of scary," he said. "It puts things in perspective, but we got it in time."

Fantasy Tip: Entering play Friday, Freeman was batting .333 with 13 doubles, four triples, eight home runs and 19 RBI in 141 at-bats since June 1. He should continue to be viewed as a solid option at first base in all formats despite the lack of protection surrounding him in the lineup.

Braves | Freddie Freeman on June surge

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 11:36:24 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman is hitting .351 with 17 extra-base hits (three triples, five home runs), a .425 on-base percentage and .660 slugging percentage in June. He has hit .443 (27-for-61) with 13 extra-base hits (two triples, four homers), a .493 on-base percentage and .820 slugging percentage in his last 15 games.

Fantasy Tip: After a slow start to the year, Freeman has really picked things up and has really been the lone offensive bright spot for the Braves all year. He's slashing .285/.368/.500 with 13 home runs and 28 RBI. The RBI totals are disappointing and won't pick up anytime soon with a weak lineup around Freeman. Other than that, though, Freeman has proved to be a fine starting first base candidate in all leagues.

Braves | Freddie Freeman on sizzling run

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 16:58:57 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman has produced a .548/.588/1.065 line in his last seven ballgames, being 17-for-31 over that stretch with three home runs, eight RBI, six runs scored and five doubles. He also even has a stolen base.

Fantasy Tip: In the process, he's been so hot that he's raised his batting average up almost 30 points to a much more respectable .279 mark. The former All-Star is trying to maintain his standing as one of the more relevant first basemen in all of fantasy baseball despite going through what has been a lost season for the rebuilding Braves.

Braves | Four more hits for Freddie Freeman

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 13:25:10 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman continued his campaign to be named the National League Player of the Week on Sunday, June 19, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI in a win over the New York Mets. Freeman has posted five games with at least three hits since Monday, June 13, and hit for the cycle against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday, June 15.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman is a scintillating 17-for-31 with two homers, a triple, five doubles, eight RBI and six runs scored over the last seven days, likely carrying many fantasy teams to wins in head-to-head leagues in the process. The red-hot slugger is obviously a strong DFS play right now and needs to be in all lineups, although it might be wise to look for other options on Tuesday when he faces Jose Fernandez and the Miami Marlins.

Braves | Freddie Freeman likes Citi Field

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 10:35:25 -0700

Atlanta Braves 1B Freddie Freeman is hitting .297 with 18 doubles, seven home runs, 34 RBI and a .360 on-base percentage and .497 slugging percentage in 49 career games at Citi Field. The Braves start a series at the New York Mets Friday, June 17.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman is one of the hottest hitters on the planet right now, hitting .315 (17-for-54) with four home runs and nine RBI this month. Start him confidently in all fantasy formats, and he's even worth the contrarian pick tonight in DFS against Matt Harvey, who's been fantastic in his last three starts after a rough spell.
