Browns | Cleveland open to Mark Sanchez

Wed, 18 Feb 2015 13:44:34 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent QB Mark Sanchez could be a candidate to sign with the Cleveland Browns in free agency. Browns head coach Mike Pettine said he's "open" to working with Sanchez after the two worked together with the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: It's anyone's guess as to who the Browns will go with under center in 2015. Brian Hoyer could re-sign, and Johnny Manziel is currently in rehab for personal reasons. If Sanchez were to come aboard, he'd likely be in competition for the job with others, including Manziel. Sanchez's situation was much better in Philly, so his fantasy football value would be limited to a weak QB2, most likely, in Cleveland.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez to start finale

Mon, 22 Dec 2014 05:35:59 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez will start in Week 17 against the New York Giants instead of QB Matt Barkley, according to head coach Chip Kelly.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez will have a decent matchup, but he has not played nearly well enough to give much consideration on FantasyScore.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez missing big plays?

Sat, 20 Dec 2014 18:02:20 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez missed a few opportunities to connect on deep balls in a 27-24 loss against the Washington Redskins Saturday, Dec. 20, WR Jeremy Maclin said after the game.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez's longest completion of the night went for 26 yards, and if he did miss some big plays, he still managed to finish with 374 yards and two scores. He should remain a solid value pick at the quarterback position at FantasyScore when the Eagles face the Giants in Week 17.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez thriving on play action

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 11:14:07 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez has thrown six interceptions this year, but all of them haven't been game-changing turnovers. In Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans, Sanchez thrived on play-action passes as the team re-established the running game. Sanchez was 12-for-14 for 124 yards and a touchdown off play-action passes. Sanchez, in general, has been much better on play-action passes all year, which fits well with the team's offense. He also hasn't thrown an interception this year outside the pocket, and he's replacing QB Nick Foles, who struggled outside the pocket.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez continues to thrive in this offense, and his Week 13 matchup is a good one against the Dallas Cowboys, who have struggled against quarterbacks in the last four weeks. Sanchez will cost you $6,800 at FantasyScore. Consider him if you don't want to spend top dollar on your QB.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez over 300 yards again

Sun, 23 Nov 2014 13:59:55 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez completed 30 of his 43 pass attempts for 307 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the Week 12 win against the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez has eclipsed the 300-yard plateau in three consecutive games, emerging as a solid mid-level play in FantasyScore each week.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews has chemistry with new QB

Tue, 11 Nov 2014 09:09:04 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews, who had seven catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 10 win with QB Mark Sanchez starting, developed some nice chemistry with Sanchez in training camp this year. Sanchez may have completed more passes to Mathews than any other player in camp while working with the second-team offense. Sanchez immediately found Matthews for a touchdown when he relieved QB Nick Foles in Week 8 because of an injury, too.

"Of course we had something going on in camp," Matthews said. "We kind of had to. We were both on the second team at the time. So, I took the majority of the reps with him. After practice, I made sure I got extra reps with him. I knew that if I wanted to break into the lineup, I had to look good with the second-team first. That was definitely a point of emphasis for me back then. We continued to have a great relationship. I started building one with Nick (Foles), but now it's Mark's opportunity, so I have to go out and make plays for him."

Fantasy Tip: So, Matthews has five touchdowns on the season, and Sanchez has tossed him three of those. There is definitely some strong chemistry between these two, and it shouldn't go unnoticed. Matthews could be peaking at the right time for his fantasy owners as we near the playoffs. He could be a good candidate to buy right now.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez excels on Monday night

Tue, 11 Nov 2014 08:58:23 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 10 win over the Carolina Panthers Monday, Nov. 10, in his first start since Dec. 30, 2012. WR Jordan Matthews had 138 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and RB Darren Sproles had an eight-yard touchdown run and a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez didn't look the the quarterback that we all came to know when he was with the New York Jets. Perhaps he can excel in the long run in Chip Kelly's system. Regardless, he should be a popular waiver wire acquisition this week, and he could put up a similar performance in Week 11 against the Green Bay Packers.

Eagles | Chip Kelly confident in Mark Sanchez

Mon, 03 Nov 2014 14:26:31 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez has all of the tools the team is looking for in a quarterback, according to head coach Chip Kelly. "He obviously has a big-time arm, he's got an NFL arm, he's got NFL feet, he's really, really smart, he's sharp, great work ethic, very athletic. He had all the things we're looking for in a quarterback," Kelly said. "He's a hell of a quarterback and we're excited that we got him."

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez likely will be the team's starting quarterback for most of the remaining games. Sanchez may not be a starting option each week for fantasy owners, but he could be a starting option depending on the match up.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez sharp as replacement

Sun, 02 Nov 2014 15:22:46 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez threw for 202 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Week 9 against the Houston Texans, coming on for an injured QB Nick Foles (collarbone) in the first quarter. Sanchez also tossed two interceptions in his first action since Dec. 30, 2012, when he was a member of the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez will be a popular low-cost addition in FantasyScore in Week 10 if Foles cannot go and Sanchez draws the start, especially since the Carolina Panthers present a fairly favorable matchup.
