Eagles | Jordan Matthews has chemistry with new QB

Tue, 11 Nov 2014 09:09:04 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews, who had seven catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 10 win with QB Mark Sanchez starting, developed some nice chemistry with Sanchez in training camp this year. Sanchez may have completed more passes to Mathews than any other player in camp while working with the second-team offense. Sanchez immediately found Matthews for a touchdown when he relieved QB Nick Foles in Week 8 because of an injury, too.

"Of course we had something going on in camp," Matthews said. "We kind of had to. We were both on the second team at the time. So, I took the majority of the reps with him. After practice, I made sure I got extra reps with him. I knew that if I wanted to break into the lineup, I had to look good with the second-team first. That was definitely a point of emphasis for me back then. We continued to have a great relationship. I started building one with Nick (Foles), but now it's Mark's opportunity, so I have to go out and make plays for him."

Fantasy Tip: So, Matthews has five touchdowns on the season, and Sanchez has tossed him three of those. There is definitely some strong chemistry between these two, and it shouldn't go unnoticed. Matthews could be peaking at the right time for his fantasy owners as we near the playoffs. He could be a good candidate to buy right now.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez excels on Monday night

Tue, 11 Nov 2014 08:58:23 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 10 win over the Carolina Panthers Monday, Nov. 10, in his first start since Dec. 30, 2012. WR Jordan Matthews had 138 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and RB Darren Sproles had an eight-yard touchdown run and a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez didn't look the the quarterback that we all came to know when he was with the New York Jets. Perhaps he can excel in the long run in Chip Kelly's system. Regardless, he should be a popular waiver wire acquisition this week, and he could put up a similar performance in Week 11 against the Green Bay Packers.

Eagles | Chip Kelly confident in Mark Sanchez

Mon, 03 Nov 2014 14:26:31 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez has all of the tools the team is looking for in a quarterback, according to head coach Chip Kelly. "He obviously has a big-time arm, he's got an NFL arm, he's got NFL feet, he's really, really smart, he's sharp, great work ethic, very athletic. He had all the things we're looking for in a quarterback," Kelly said. "He's a hell of a quarterback and we're excited that we got him."

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez likely will be the team's starting quarterback for most of the remaining games. Sanchez may not be a starting option each week for fantasy owners, but he could be a starting option depending on the match up.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez sharp as replacement

Sun, 02 Nov 2014 15:22:46 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez threw for 202 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Week 9 against the Houston Texans, coming on for an injured QB Nick Foles (collarbone) in the first quarter. Sanchez also tossed two interceptions in his first action since Dec. 30, 2012, when he was a member of the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez will be a popular low-cost addition in FantasyScore in Week 10 if Foles cannot go and Sanchez draws the start, especially since the Carolina Panthers present a fairly favorable matchup.

Eagles | Open to trade offers on Mark Sanchez

Sun, 17 Aug 2014 23:37:28 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly has told reporters he would be open to trade offers for QB Mark Sanchez, presumably to let Sanchez have a chance at the No. 1 job with another team. Kelly also added that does not mean Sanchez will be dealt, as they need his depth-chart experience behind QB Nick Foles, but the team is always looking to improve.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez solid in debut

Fri, 08 Aug 2014 19:27:56 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez completed seven of his 10 pass attempts for 79 yards in his team debut in the preseason opener Friday, Aug. 8, against the Chicago Bears.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez relieved starter Nick Foles, working ahead of Matt Barkley, the quarterback he is battling for the primary backup job. Neither Sanchez nor Barkley will have any fantasy appeal unless Foles goes down with a long-term injury.
