Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin makes impact

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 22:02:59 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin caught three passes for 22 yards and a score in the first half of a preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks Friday, Aug. 21, and he added one carry for eight yards.

Fantasy Tip: Although Maclin has yet to connect with QB Alex Smith on a big play, he did manage to catch the first touchdown by a Kansas City receiver in more than a year. He should still be a useful QB2 in 2015 despite trading Philadelphia's high-powered offense for the Chiefs' more conservative approach.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin returns

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 06:36:35 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (neck) returned to practice Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin is a WR2, but he loses a bit of luster with the move from Philly to KC.

Chiefs | Alex Smith impressed with Jeremy Maclin

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 15:42:00 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin has impressed QB Alex Smith in practices this summer. "I feel like that's the ultimate tool. For coach (Andy) Reid, he just loves drawing up stuff and creating stuff, so Jeremy will be all over the field," Smith said. "He'll be inside, he'll be outside, deep, short, running the ball, throwing the ball. I mean Jeremy is a guy that can do so much." Head coach Andy Reid's schemes and offensive language remain largely the same from the time he and Maclin worked together with the Philadelphia Phillies, so Maclin doesn't need a ton of time to acclimate to his new offense.

Fantasy Tip: Kansas City's signing of Maclin drastically upgraded their receiving corps immediately. He's expected to be Smith's top target, and he could open up valuable running and receiving room for the rest of the team's offensive weapons. Consider Maclin a WR2 in 2015.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin injured

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 14:05:47 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (neck) did not practice Monday, Aug. 10, because of a neck strain.

Fantasy Tip: A neck strain is pretty low on the totem pole of serious injuries. He's the Chiefs' best receiver so Kansas City might wait to make sure he's fully healthy before Maclin practices or plays. Assuming full health, Maclin is in WR2 territory this year.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin stretching the field

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 17:17:59 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin caught a long pass from QB Alex Smith on the second play of training camp Saturday, Aug. 1, and he caught a few more deep balls during the day. "We've got a new weapon," Smith said. "We've got to test it out a little bit. We've known for a while what we've got with him."

Fantasy Tip: Maclin gives the Kansas City offense a dimension it lacked last season, and while he is unlikely to deliver as many explosive plays as he did in Philadelphia, he is still the No. 1 target for the Chiefs and should make a solid WR2.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin returns to practice

Thu, 11 Jun 2015 13:21:30 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin (foot) returned to practice as a full participant Thursday, June 11. He missed practice Wednesday, June 10, with inflammation in his foot.

Fantasy Tip: On paper, Maclin lost fantasy value when he went from Philadelphia to Kansas City. Maclin achieved 85 catches for 1,318 yards and 10 touchdowns with the Eagles last season. He won't see that same kind of production with Alex Smith and Co. Maclin immediately became the Chiefs' No. 1 wide receiver, however, and is still in WR2 territory.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin working with Alex Smith

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 12:15:05 -0700

Kansas City Chiefs WR Jeremy Maclin and QB Alex Smith played catch for the first time since Maclin was acquired this offseason. Maclin said everything was smooth and that he was simply trying to get a feel for how Smith threw the football. Smith said he believes Maclin's transition into the Chiefs' offense will be relatively smooth since he has already played for head coach Andy Reid in Philadelphia.

Fantasy Tip: It's unrealistic to expect a duplication of last season from Maclin, when he tallied career highs in catches (85), yards (1,318) and touchdowns (10). Kansas City's offense isn't as high octane as the Eagles' offense and it's centered more on Jamaal Charles. Maclin could still post WR2 numbers when all is said and done. Alex Smith is somewhat underrated as a fantasy quarterback, but he's still not starter worthy even with Maclin in town.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews to have bigger role

Fri, 03 Apr 2015 10:52:50 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews said the team won't really have a designated No. 1 receiver in place to replace the production that will be lost with WR Jeremy Maclin signing with the Kansas City Chiefs. "People ask me about being the No. 1 wide receiver; Forget it," Matthews said. "I want us to be a receiving corps. That's what I want it to be." Matthews was the team's second leading receiver in 2014 with 67 catches for 872 yards and eight touchdowns as the slot receiver. Matthews is likely to play more in 2015 and on the outside. Head coach Chip Kelly said he sees Matthews playing "a lot of different spots." Kelly is confident in Matthews and WR Josh Huff, and TE Zach Ertz and RB Darren Sproles could be used more in the passing game.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews should be in line for more production, at least in catches and yardage in 2015. He'll have a much more gifted quarterback in Sam Bradford throwing him passes, too. In Kelly's offense, though, there's opportunity for Huff and Riley Cooper to be successful in the right matchups.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin signs with Chiefs

Wed, 11 Mar 2015 10:11:22 -0700

Free-agent WR Jeremy Maclin (Eagles) officially signed with the Kansas City Chiefs Wednesday, March 11. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin will be the top receiving option in 2015, but his fantasy football value will likely take a hit this season as the Chiefs are a team did not throw a touchdown to a wide receiver in 2014.

Chiefs | KC to give Jeremy Maclin big money

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 11:05:12 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent WR Jeremy Maclin is expected to sign a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs that is close to the $10 million a year Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb received from the Packers, according to a source. Maclin could even receive a little more than Cobb received in his contract.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin has a chance to be the No. 1 wide receiver with the Chiefs, but this move will hurt his fantasy value since the Chiefs did not throw a touchdown to a wide receiver this past season. Maclin probably should be considered a No. 3 receiver entering fantasy drafts next season.

Chiefs | Jeremy Maclin expected to sign with KC

Sun, 08 Mar 2015 17:53:43 -0700

Impending free-agent WR Jeremy Maclin (Eagles) is expected to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: While the Chiefs certainly need help at receiver, the move will likely hurt Maclin's value. He will move from Chip Kelly's wide-open offense to a Kansas City passing attack didn't register a single touchdown to a receiver last year.

Texans | Houston pursuing Jeremy Maclin

Sat, 07 Mar 2015 11:52:22 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent Jeremy Maclin is being pursued by the Houston Texans to replace WR Andre Johnson.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Maclin and the Eagles are still far apart on a new deal, so Maclin could very well sign with a new team. His fantasy value would take a hit in Houston, however, as he goes from Nick Foles to a team who doesn't know who their starting quarterback is yet.

Eagles | Jeremy Maclin deal not close with Eagles

Wed, 04 Mar 2015 11:25:20 -0800

Impending free-agent WR Jeremy Maclin is not close to a contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fantasy Tip: There is a chance that Maclin could still be re-signed before free agency opens. He should be considered a fringe WR1 in 2015.

Eagles | Jeremy Maclin not tagged

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 14:00:05 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin did not receive the franchise tag before the deadline Monday, March 2. Maclin and the Eagles have been working on a long-term deal and have until Tuesday, March 10, to get one done or else Maclin will become a free agent.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin would be one of the top free agents on the market if he is not re-signed, though it's more likely that he will be retained. He was a WR1 last season and should be considered a fringe WR1 in 2015, especially with a healthy Nick Foles set to return.

Eagles | PHI faces tag decision on Jeremy Maclin

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 04:11:49 -0800

Free-agent WR Jeremy Maclin (Eagles) and the Philadelphia Eagles are trying to work out a new contract, but the team has until 4 p.m. Monday, March 2, to put the franchise tag on Maclin.

Fantasy Tip: This could go either way. Geoff Mosher of CSN Philly says it is likely the franchise tag will be applied, but both sides are trying to hammer out a deal before free agency opens on Tuesday, March 10. Maclin had 1,318 yards and scored 10 touchdowns on 85 catches, making him a solid WR1 in most formats.

Eagles | Jeremy Maclin unlikely for tag

Tue, 17 Feb 2015 10:03:19 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent WR Jeremy Maclin is unlikely to receive the franchise tag because of the kind of financial commitment it would entail. It's still likely that the Eagles will work out a long-term deal with him.

Fantasy Tip: Back to full health in 2014, Maclin proved to us that he can be a solid WR2 in point-per-reception leagues again. Regardless of if he re-signs with the Eagles, he should remain in that territory for fantasy football owners.

Eagles | Negotiating with Jeremy Maclin

Sat, 31 Jan 2015 00:47:11 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin confirmed negotiations between his representation and the Eagles are ongoing. The veteran receiver is likely seeking a five-year deal worth over $10 million per year, but he also could receive the franchise tag.

Eagles | Tough financial decisions ahead

Thu, 29 Jan 2015 11:28:23 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent WR Jeremy Maclin had a career year in 2014, but the team may have trouble re-signing him due to salary cap issues. The Eagles may not be able to retain both Maclin and RB LeSean McCoy. McCoy is under contract for another three years, but his salary cap number increases to $11.9 million in 2015, unless he restructures his current deal. If the Eagles cannot re-sign Maclin, they would have to commit more than $12 million for using the franchise tag on him.

Eagles | Chip Kelly hopes Jeremy Maclin returns

Mon, 29 Dec 2014 13:44:49 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but head coach Chip Kelly said he hopes the Eagles will be able to re-sign Maclin.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin played very well this season with 1,318 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns and should receive a nice deal in free agency. Maclin probably will be a starter with whichever team he signs with and probably should be a middle-round option in 2015 fantasy drafts.

Eagles | Jeremy Maclin wants to stay in Philly

Tue, 23 Dec 2014 13:27:38 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin wants to remain with the team, although he's set to be a free agent next season. "This is a great place to be," Maclin said. "Everything that (owner Jeff) Lurie or Howie (Roseman, the GM) and Chip (Kelly, the head coach) has ever told me has always been true. Why wouldn't I want to be here? This is the place that drafted me. I want to end my career here. If we can get something worked out when the time is right, that's what will happen."

Fantasy Tip: Maclin had a great bounce-back season in 2014 after not playing at all last year due to a knee injury. If he remains in Philadelphia next year, a lot of his fantasy value will depend on what happens at the QB position. For Week 17, Maclin ($5,555) has a pretty decent matchup against the New York Giants, but how much he may play in a game that matters little is a big question.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez missing big plays?

Sat, 20 Dec 2014 18:02:20 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez missed a few opportunities to connect on deep balls in a 27-24 loss against the Washington Redskins Saturday, Dec. 20, WR Jeremy Maclin said after the game.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez's longest completion of the night went for 26 yards, and if he did miss some big plays, he still managed to finish with 374 yards and two scores. He should remain a solid value pick at the quarterback position at FantasyScore when the Eagles face the Giants in Week 17.

Eagles | Jeremy Maclin draws Richard Sherman

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 07:49:33 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin is expected to be lined up across from Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman often in Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin ($6,900; 13.8% of your cap) has a tough matchup, which could open things more for Jordan Matthews ($6,600; 13.2%). Matthews could wind up being the better play on FantasyScore. However, if there were ever a time for TE Zach Ertz ($3,200; 6.4%) to come alive, it's this week.

Eagles | Jeremy Maclin comes up big again

Sun, 02 Nov 2014 13:13:49 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin posted six receptions for 158 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 9 game against the Houston Texans. He is the first player with back-to-back games of at least 150 receiving yards and multiple touchdown catches since WR Miles Austin (Cowboys) in 2009.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin lost Nick Foles to injury, but he jelled nicely with Mark Sanchez, too. If Foles misses time, that could affect Maclin's fantasy outlook somewhat. However, he faces a favorable matchup against the Carolina Panthers in Week 10, so FantasyScore owners won't want to discard him.

Sun, 02 Nov 2014 11:21:16 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin caught three passes for 122 yards and one touchdown in the first half of the team's Week 9 game.

Fantasy Tip: It is Maclin's second straight 100-yard receiving game, and he will look to add to his stats in the second half. Maclin has looked good this season and likely is a weekly starting option for owners.

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 17:48:57 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin posted 12 receptions for 187 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 8 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin's performance might have been even better had he not left the game briefly to get checked for concussion. After a violent collision with two defenders, he was left bleeding from the ear. He checked out fine and returned to the game.

Eagles | Jeremy Maclin returns to game

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 15:30:15 -0700

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin (head) was able to return to the Week 8 game against the Arizona Cardinals after leaving earlier to be evaluated for concussion.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin is apparently better, because the team is also using him on punt returns again. He returned a punt in the third quarter and was upended onto the sports drink table of the Cardinals, slide off and over into a puddle. He was fine after that, too, so fantasy owners can breathe a sigh of relief.

Fri, 24 Oct 2014 21:32:18 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin might be called upon to return punts in Week 8 against the Arizona Cardinals if RB Darren Sproles (knee) is unable to play.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners never like to see their player risking injury on special teams, especially when there is nothing to gain. Regardless, Maclin is a must-start against a very suspect Arizona pass defense. FantasyScore owners will love him at $6,700 (or 13.4 percent of the cap).

Eagles | Jeremy Maclin sees room to improve

Sat, 04 Oct 2014 17:31:40 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin is on pace for 84 catches, 1,456 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, but he said he still feels that he and QB Nick Foles need to improve their chemistry, especially on deep routes. "Unfortunately we haven't been on the same page much, but we'll continue to grow and get it going," Maclin said.

Fantasy Tip: While Foles' struggles with longer passes aren't ideal, the fact that Maclin has remained a strong option at receiver despite missing out on several big-play opportunities gives him plenty of upside on top of his already-solid production. Maclin will take up 13.8% of the cap ($6,900) in Week 5.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin (hamstring) practiced in full for the third straight day Friday, Oct. 3, and is probable for Week 5 against the St. Louis Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin will cost you $6,900 (13.8% of cap) at FantasyScore against the Rams. Against a tough St. Louis defensive front, Philly's depleted offensive line will be tested. If Nick Foles isn't given much time to throw, Maclin may struggle to receive looks in the passing game.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin (hamstring) participated in practice Monday, Aug. 18, after missing the second preseason game with a hamstring injury. He is expected to play in the third preseason game.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like Maclin should be ready for the start of the regular season unless he suffers a setback at some point. He should have a sold role in the passing game and likely will have more value in point-per-reception leagues. Maclin should be considered a No. 3 wide receiver in most leagues.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin (hamstring) is out of practice Thursday, Aug. 14, and is unlikely to play in the second preseason game Friday, Aug. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Maclin's injury isn't considered serious. His absence should give Jordan Matthews another chance to impress the team after a disappointing showing in the first game. Maclin is a solid WR3. Matthews is a WR5 with upside if he wins the slot role.

Eagles | Jeremy Maclin leaves practice

Wed, 13 Aug 2014 09:23:48 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin (hamstring) was not able to finish practice Wednesday, Aug. 13, because of a hamstring injury. Maclin said the injury is not serious and hopes to play in the second preseason game. He also had ice on his surgically repaired knee but did not say if that was a precautionary move.

Fantasy Tip: It does not appear like Maclin will miss much time because of the injury. He is coming off a lost 2013 season but should be a solid part of the passing game this season. He should probably be considered a No. 3 wide receiver that will come off the board in the middle rounds.

Eagles | Jeremy Maclin starts

Fri, 08 Aug 2014 21:12:32 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin (legs) was able to start the preseason game against the Chicago Bears Friday, Aug. 8. He finished with one grab for 15 yards before departing.

Fantasy Tip: It was Maclin's first game action since Dec. 2012, and it was good to see him get game time after he missed some practice time earlier in the week. If he can return to his pre-injury form, he might be quite a steal on draft day for fantasy owners taking him in the later rounds.
