Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton (shoulder) is set to return from a sprained right shoulder in Week 3 versus the Philadelphia Eagles, but he will do so in a timeshare with Sammie Coates and Darrius Heyward-Bey.
Fantasy Tip: It's impossible to know at this point whether the Steelers plan on making this a permanent arrangement or are only trying to bring him back slowly, but what is clear is that Wheaton is no more than a low-end flex for the time being. He is certainly still worth a bench spot and could move into the WR3 discussion as the year progresses.
Sat, 10 Sep 2016 12:30:08 -0700
Pittsburgh Steelers WRs Sammie Coates and Darrius Heyward-Bey likely will share playing time at outside receiver in Week 1 since WR Markus Wheaton (shoulder) has been ruled out. WR Eli Rogers will be the slot receiver.
Fantasy Tip: It is not known how Coates and Heyward-Bey will be used, but they probably will not receive a lot of targets during the game and can be avoided in most leagues. Rogers should be more involved in the passing game and could be a decent option in daily fantasy leagues.
Thu, 30 Jun 2016 14:43:26 -0700
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Darrius Heyward-Bey could remain high on the Steelers' depth chart this season, mainly due to his speed. Heyward-Bey has reached up to 25 miles per hour while running this offseason.
Fantasy Tip: Heyward-Bey is pretty fast and all, but his fantasy value remains minimal, although Martavis Bryant's suspension does increase it somewhat. He should only be drafted as a deep flier in 2016.
Thu, 26 May 2016 18:42:41 -0700
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown beat CB Artie Burns for a pair of touchdowns in the first day of OTAs Thursday, May 26, and WR Darrius Heyward-Bey said he believes a 2,000-yard season is possible for Brown.
Fantasy Tip: Brown is a first-round option in any format, and he should be in the mix for the No. 1 overall pick in PPR leagues.
Tue, 22 Mar 2016 11:45:06 -0700
The Pittsburgh Steelers' No. 2 wide receiver job is up for grabs between WRs Markus Wheaton, Darrius Heyward-Bey and Sammie Coates this year, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. Wheaton seems like the favorite for the spot, but Tomlin also sees Coates as a potential breakout candidate in 2016.
Fantasy Tip: With Martavis Bryant suspended for the year, Wheaton's value surely rises in fantasy circles, and he could be a low-end WR2 commodity if he wins the job behind Antonio Brown. Coates is a deep threat who will have more value in standard-scoring formats. Draft him as a WR5 with upside for more.
Mon, 07 Mar 2016 10:47:14 -0800
Free-agent WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (Steelers) agreed to terms with the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday, March 7, on a three-year deal worth $3.8 million, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: Heyward-Bey had a smaller role in the offense this season and finished the season with 314 yards and two touchdowns. Heyward-Bey likely will be used more on special teams next season and should not be an option in most fantasy leagues.
Fri, 13 Nov 2015 11:22:50 -0800

Sun, 08 Nov 2015 12:23:20 -0800
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (knee) is questionable to return to Week 9's game against the Oakland Raiders after suffering a knee injury.
Fantasy Tip: Heyward-Bey ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) was targeted twice but had zero catches against his former team and wasn't a great FantasyScore option to begin with this afternoon.
Sun, 27 Sep 2015 16:42:41 -0700
Pittsburgh Steelers WRs Darrius Heyward-Bey and Markus Wheaton had little production in Week 3 against the St. Louis Rams. Heyward-Bey had three grabs for 19 yards, while Wheaton had two catches for 16 yards. Both were targeted three times.
Fantasy Tip: DHB ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) and Wheaton ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) weren't great FantasyScore options to start, but now that Le'Veon Bell is another receiving option back from suspension, and the team is without Ben Roethlisberger for a while, their fantasy appeal has lessened dramatically.
Tue, 08 Sep 2015 20:41:45 -0700
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Sammie Coates is considered to be the No. 5 wide receiver by beat writer Ed Bouchette, behind WRs Darrius Heyward-Bey for the No. 3 wideout job.
Fantasy Tip: Coates, the rookie out of Auburn, is also believed to be behind Tyler Murphy, according to Bouchette. Coates has plenty of upside, but he has a while to go before he makes a splash in fantasy.
Wed, 02 Sep 2015 14:34:12 -0700
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Darrius Heyward-Bey has been playing with a lot of confidence, according to QB Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger said he and Hewyard-Bey have developed somewhat of a rapport with each other since working out in Georgia together. Roethlisberger said he believes Heyward-Bey will step up and play fine when WR Martavis Bryant is suspended.
Fantasy Tip: Heyward-Bey's workload should increase during the first four weeks of the season, but he'll probably play sparingly once Bryant returns. Leave him off your fantasy rosters.
Wed, 02 Sep 2015 06:34:03 -0700
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Darrius Heyward-Bey will have a bigger role with WR Martavis Bryant suspended the first four games.
Fantasy Tip: Sammie Coates will likely be the No. 4 on the depth chart then. DHB's fantasy value is very minimal, but he's in the WR5 conversation.
Thu, 27 Aug 2015 17:38:49 -0700
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Darrius Heyward-Bey could be the No. 3 wide receiver if WR Martavis Bryant has to sit out the first four weeks of the regular season.
Fantasy Tip: Heyward-Bey did not have much of a role in the offense last season and received most of his time on special teams. He probably would not receive a lot of targets in the first four games and should not be an option in drafts.

Sun, 01 Mar 2015 07:52:24 -0800
Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent WR Darrius Heyward-Bey will not re-sign with the Steelers this offseason.
Tue, 23 Dec 2014 07:14:45 -0800
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant has been promoted to WR2 on the depth chart over WR Darrius Heyward-Bey.
Fantasy Tip: Bryant has been fairly useless in fantasy after his midseason breakout. He's a boom candidate as a flex in Week 17, but the bust possibility is quite real.
Fri, 07 Nov 2014 12:14:27 -0800
Pittsburgh Steelers S Troy Polamalu (knee), LB Ryan Shazier (ankle), CB , S Shamarko Thomas (hamstring) all did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 7, and have been ruled out. DE Cameron Heyward (non-injury related), WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (hamstring), DE Brett Keisel (non-injury related), S Michael Mitchell (not injury related), C Maurkice Pouncey (non-injury related) and LB Jason Worilds (abdomen) all fully practiced and are probable for Week 10.
Tue, 21 Oct 2014 09:48:08 -0700
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Martavis Bryant cut into WR Markus Wheaton's workload in Week 7 against the Houston Texans, and QB Ben Roethlisberger took three "shot" plays down the field to Bryant. The team is unsettled at receiver behind WR Antonio Brown, with WRs Wheaton, Lance Moore and Darrius Heyward-Bey fighting for targets. It was the first game in which Bryant was active this year.
Fantasy Tip: Bryant had a fine showing on Monday night in his first game this year. However, the second and third options behind Brown are hard to predict right now, making them nothing more than risky flex plays based on matchups.
Fri, 26 Sep 2014 11:17:44 -0700

OG Ramon Foster (ankle) is listed as questionable, while RB Dri Archer (ankle), WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (illness), DE Brett Keisel (non-injury) and SS Troy Polamalu (non-injury) are listed as probable. Fri, 05 Sep 2014 13:31:46 -0700
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Lance Moore (groin) did not practice Friday, Sept. 5, and has been ruled out for Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns. It'll open up snaps for WRs Justin Brown and/or Martavis Bryant (shoulder), but Bryant is unlikely to play because of a shoulder ailment. That means Brown and WR Darrius Heyward-Bey will likely be used alongside WRs Antonio Brown and Markus Wheaton. Browns CB Joe Haden is likely to lock on to Brown for the majority of the game, meaning the other receivers could see good opportunities to make an impact.
Fantasy Tip: Wheaton presents an excellent buying opportunity at FantasyScore against the Browns at a price of $3,700 (7.4% of cap) - the basement salary for a wideout.
Wed, 27 Aug 2014 22:01:17 -0700
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Darrius Heyward-Bey appears to be in good shape for a roster spot, as the team will likely keep six receivers on the 53-man roster. WRs Antonio Brown, Markus Wheaton, Lance Moore, Martavis Bryant, Justin Brown and Heyward-Bey are expected to comprise the group.

Mon, 07 Jul 2014 15:59:32 -0700
Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers WRs Justin Brown, Darrius Heyward-Bey and Derek Moye are still battling for the No. 5 wide receiver job. WRs Antonio Brown, Lance Moore, Markus Wheaton and Martavis Bryant hold the top four spots on the depth chart.
Fantasy Tip: There isn't a lot of fantasy value to go around after Brown, Wheaton and Moore. Bryant is worthy of a late-round flier in deep leagues, given his size in comparison to the Steelers other receivers, and potential end zone usage. Heyward-Bey should stick with the team, leaving recently-drafted Brown to beat out Moye, who failed to see much playing time in 2013, after breaking camp as an undrafted free agent.
Fri, 20 Jun 2014 20:43:59 -0700

Pittsburgh Steelers WRs Antonio Brown, Markus Wheaton and Lance Moore are expected to be the team's top three wideouts, with WR Martavis Bryant likely a lock to also make the roster. Wed, 02 Apr 2014 10:30:01 -0700
The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed free-agent WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (Colts) to a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton had just two catches for seven yards while playing 45 snaps in Week 14 against the Cincinnati Bengals. In the last four weeks, Hilton has just 17 catches for 135 yards. Hilton had back-to-back 100-yard receiving games following WR Reggie Wayne's (knee) injury, but since then, opposing secondaries are clamping down on Hilton and giving him more double coverages. "I'm seeing double teams. Sometimes they roll the coverage my way. It just means guys got to step up, which they did, so we're moving in the right direction. (LaVon) Brazill, DHB (Darrius Heyward-Bey) made a big play and Da'Rick (Rogers) making plays, so as long as they continue to keep doing that, we should be fine."
Fantasy Tip: As a result, Da'Rick Rogers and LaVon Brazill have seen more opportunities. Rogers has benefitted the most, so maybe his emergence will draw some attention off of Hilton. Until then, temper your expectations with Hilton as more of a weak WR2.
Thu, 05 Dec 2013 10:04:16 -0800
Signs are pointing toward Indianapolis Colts WR Da'Rick Rogers moving ahead of WR Darrius Heyward-Bey on the team's depth chart at wide receiver. Rogers made his debut with the team in Week 13 and played in 13 offensive plays. "We've got four guys on the 53-man roster right now at the wide receiver position and we've got to do a great job of playing to their strengths," head coach Chuck Pagano said. "We're going to need them all." Heyward-Bey has been targeted 26 times in the last five games but has just nine catches for 96 yards.
Fantasy Tip: As Mike Chappell notes, Rogers or LaVon Brazill could overtake DHB on the depth chart and be utilized more often in the final four games of the regular season. They both have more upside than DHB, as well. Take note if you've been holding onto Hewyard-Bey as the No. 2 opposite T.Y. Hilton. It's probably time to cut bait.
Fri, 22 Nov 2013 12:27:40 -0800
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 22, and is listed as probable for Week 12.

Thu, 21 Nov 2013 15:26:15 -0800
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (ankle) practiced in full Thursday, Nov. 21.
Fantasy Tip: DHB should mainly be on your roster for depth purposes. He's a borderline flex play in cavernous leagues.
Wed, 20 Nov 2013 13:11:12 -0800
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 20.
