Pittsburgh Steelers WR Darrius Heyward-Bey appears to be in good shape for a roster spot, as the team will likely keep six receivers on the 53-man roster. WRs Antonio Brown, Markus Wheaton, Lance Moore, Martavis Bryant, Justin Brown and Heyward-Bey are expected to comprise the group.

Mon, 07 Jul 2014 15:59:32 -0700
Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Steelers WRs Justin Brown, Darrius Heyward-Bey and Derek Moye are still battling for the No. 5 wide receiver job. WRs Antonio Brown, Lance Moore, Markus Wheaton and Martavis Bryant hold the top four spots on the depth chart.
Fantasy Tip: There isn't a lot of fantasy value to go around after Brown, Wheaton and Moore. Bryant is worthy of a late-round flier in deep leagues, given his size in comparison to the Steelers other receivers, and potential end zone usage. Heyward-Bey should stick with the team, leaving recently-drafted Brown to beat out Moye, who failed to see much playing time in 2013, after breaking camp as an undrafted free agent.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed free-agent WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (Colts) to a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Fantasy Tip: Heyward-Bey likely will not start this upcoming season and likely will serve as depth for the Steelers. He probably will be only a waiver wire possibility in 2014 if he makes the team.

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton had just two catches for seven yards while playing 45 snaps in Week 14 against the Cincinnati Bengals. In the last four weeks, Hilton has just 17 catches for 135 yards. Hilton had back-to-back 100-yard receiving games following WR Reggie Wayne's (knee) injury, but since then, opposing secondaries are clamping down on Hilton and giving him more double coverages. "I'm seeing double teams. Sometimes they roll the coverage my way. It just means guys got to step up, which they did, so we're moving in the right direction. (LaVon) Brazill, DHB (Darrius Heyward-Bey) made a big play and Da'Rick (Rogers) making plays, so as long as they continue to keep doing that, we should be fine."
Fantasy Tip: As a result, Da'Rick Rogers and LaVon Brazill have seen more opportunities. Rogers has benefitted the most, so maybe his emergence will draw some attention off of Hilton. Until then, temper your expectations with Hilton as more of a weak WR2.
Thu, 05 Dec 2013 10:04:16 -0800
Signs are pointing toward Indianapolis Colts WR Da'Rick Rogers moving ahead of WR Darrius Heyward-Bey on the team's depth chart at wide receiver. Rogers made his debut with the team in Week 13 and played in 13 offensive plays. "We've got four guys on the 53-man roster right now at the wide receiver position and we've got to do a great job of playing to their strengths," head coach Chuck Pagano said. "We're going to need them all." Heyward-Bey has been targeted 26 times in the last five games but has just nine catches for 96 yards.
Fantasy Tip: As Mike Chappell notes, Rogers or LaVon Brazill could overtake DHB on the depth chart and be utilized more often in the final four games of the regular season. They both have more upside than DHB, as well. Take note if you've been holding onto Hewyard-Bey as the No. 2 opposite T.Y. Hilton. It's probably time to cut bait.

Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 22, and is listed as probable for Week 12.

Thu, 21 Nov 2013 15:26:15 -0800
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (ankle) practiced in full Thursday, Nov. 21.
Fantasy Tip: DHB should mainly be on your roster for depth purposes. He's a borderline flex play in cavernous leagues.

Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Fri, 08 Nov 2013 12:18:33 -0800

Thu, 07 Nov 2013 14:09:41 -0800
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (shoulder) practiced in full Thursday, Nov. 7.
Fantasy Tip: DHB shouldn't be in any danger of missing the game this week. He's a weaker flex option for your fantasy lineups.

Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (shoulder) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Mon, 04 Nov 2013 09:35:24 -0800
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (head) was being evaluated for a concussion after the team's Week 9 game, but head coach Chuck Pagano said Heyward-Bey was cleared.
Fantasy Tip: This is something to keep an eye on during the week. If he can't play in Week 10, Griff Whalen and Coby Fleener will become more important options in the passing game.
Fri, 01 Nov 2013 13:27:09 -0700
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (hamstring) did not practice Friday, Nov. 1, and is questionable for Week 9.
Fantasy Tip: DHB should receive more opportunities with Reggie Wayne (knee) out for the year, but his availability is in question this week. The Houston Texans have been solid at locking down opposing wideouts recently, too. Consider him a weak WR3 or flex option this weekend.
Thu, 31 Oct 2013 15:22:40 -0700
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 31.
Fantasy Tip: Owners should check on Heyward-Bey's practice participation Friday, Nov. 1, to get a better idea of his status for the game. If he is able to play, he should be considered a No. 3 wide receiver or a flex option.
Mon, 28 Oct 2013 19:37:45 -0700
Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano is uncertain who will step up as the team's No. 3 wide receiver behind WRs Darrius Heyward-Bey and T.Y. Hilton with WR Reggie Wayne (knee) done for the season. WRs LaVon Brazill and Griff Whalen are expected to battle for the job.
Fantasy Tip: The winner of the No. 3 battle is still not a recommended fantasy option at this point. Brazill has speed to burn, and seems like he should be the favorite, but unless Heyward-Bey or Hilton also go down, don't waste the roster spot.
Mon, 28 Oct 2013 19:15:22 -0700
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey is expected to step up and produce, as he is technically the team's No. 1 wide receiver following the season-ending injury to WR Reggie Wayne (knee).
Fantasy Tip: Heyward-Bey has managed just 18 catches for 190 yards so far this season, and despite his projected spot on the team's depth chart following the Wayne injury, he should still be viewed as nothing more than a WR3/4 or flex fantasy play in most leagues.
Fri, 20 Sep 2013 11:55:28 -0700

Sun, 15 Sep 2013 15:01:04 -0700
Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said Sunday, Sept. 15, that WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (shoulder) went down hard on his shoulder in the Week 2 game against the Miami Dolphins, forcing him from the game. Heyward-Bey is scheduled for an MRI.
Fantasy Tip: Heyward-Bey can safely be dropped in most fantasy leagues, as he has done next to nothing through his first two games. If he misses time, WR Griff Whalen might continue to fill in as the No. 3 receiver, but his fantasy appeal is rather minimal.
Wed, 28 Aug 2013 08:57:37 -0700
The Indianapolis Colts have kept WR Darrius Heyward-Bey as a starter over speedy WR T.Y. Hilton, and the teams cites Heyward-Bey's blocking skills in the run game as a major factor.
Fantasy Tip: Still, while Hilton is expected to be on the field in passing-only situations, he still has bigger play ability. Plus, this isn't engraved in stone, and could change as the season progresses. However, initially, Hilton might get off to a little bit of a slow start. As far as Heyward-Bey, he should still be nothing more than a WR3/4 or flex option with little upside.
Thu, 08 Aug 2013 09:46:16 -0700
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (knee) is sore after practice Tuesday, Aug. 6. Heyward-Bey did not suffer a setback, according to head coach Chuck Pagano. Heyward-Bey is expected to do more in practice Thursday, Aug. 8.
Tue, 06 Aug 2013 16:30:46 -0700
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (knee) was able to return to practice Tuesday, Aug. 6.
Fantasy Tip: The former Raider is vying with T.Y. Hilton for the starting job opposite Reggie Wayne, although both are likely to see plenty of action in Indianapolis' vertical attack. Hilton is the better fantasy option at this point.
Mon, 05 Aug 2013 13:35:51 -0700
The Indianapolis Colts do not believe WR Darrius Heyward-Bey's (knee) knee injury is serious.
Mon, 05 Aug 2013 12:35:03 -0700
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (knee) will miss time because of a sprained medial collateral ligament.
Sun, 04 Aug 2013 22:31:18 -0700
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey (knee) was diagnosed with a sprained left knee Sunday, August 4, and it's unclear how much time he might miss. The injury occurred during the afternoon session at Indianapolis' training camp. Heyward-Bey was then taken to the training tent at Anderson University and watched the rest of practice with the knee wrapped in ice.
Fantasy Tip: Uh oh. This could be a disaster for Indianapolis if the worst-case scenario comes true. Bey was looking for a fresh start following several seasons in Oakland that all but left him a draft bust, and he was looking good so far. Reggie Wayne and T.Y. Hilton are the primary Indianapolis receivers, but if Bey misses a chunk of time Indy will need a No. 3 wideout.
Wed, 31 Jul 2013 10:17:56 -0700
Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton is battling WR Darrius Heyward-Bey for the No. 2 receiver spot in training camp. Offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton has used Hilton all over the field, lining up outside on the left and right, and also in the slot. Hilton is also expected to serve as the team's primary punt returner.
Fantasy Tip: Hilton has big-play ability, leading the team with seven touchdown grabs in his rookie season, and a strong 17.2 yards per reception. Hilton is solid WR3 or flex play in most standard leagues, and he has even more value in those formats which reward longer touchdowns. Hilton is also a strong WR2 play in leagues which reward individual return yardage.
Tue, 30 Jul 2013 09:01:04 -0700
Indianapolis Colts WR LaVon Brazill admitted he made a mistake in the offseason, and he now has a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy to start the season as a result. Brazill said he needs to decide between "money and marijuana." That isn't his only battle. He is also vying for the fourth receiver spot behind WRs Reggie Wayne, Darrius Heyward-Bey and T.Y. Hilton, so his roster spot isn't necessarily a given.
Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners will want to avoid Brazill to start the season, even if he wins the No. 4 job, due to his four-game suspension. He has big-play ability, but with plenty of depth at the position, it will likely take an injury or two to open up a more prominent role for the former Ohio Bobcat.
Sun, 28 Jul 2013 09:25:12 -0700
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey lined up with the first-team offense during practice Sunday, July 28. WR T.Y. Hilton may be used as the No. 3 receiver.
Sun, 16 Jun 2013 08:26:14 -0700

Wed, 03 Apr 2013 10:08:41 -0700
Indianapolis Colts WR Darrius Heyward-Bey said part of the reason he signed with the Colts was because QB Andrew Luck is on the team. "It's a confidence thing," Heyward-Bey said. "You know (Luck) is going to be your quarterback. There's no question about that. In Oakland, there were times when we weren't sure going in week-by-week. We had to adjust on the fly. Knowing Andrew is back there, it feels good."
