Bills | LeSean McCoy could limited in Week 1

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 10:35:07 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) may not be in great "football shape" once Week 1 rolls around, according to a source. He's not at full speed in practice but is doing rehab work including light footwork, agility and cardio conditioning. A source told ESPN's Josina Anderson McCoy's MRI showed, what was described internally as, a "small tear," adding: "They say it tore in a spot where it couldn't have been any better for us. It tore in a spot that is kind of high up, surrounded by stronger muscles in the glutes and things like that."

Fantasy Tip: McCoy doesn't sound like a great daily play on FantasyScore for Week 1, but he's still a legit RB1 in traditional leagues. Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown could be one-week plays in the opener.

Bills | Concern LeSean McCoy won't be ready?

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 09:32:19 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) seems to be in some danger of missing the season opener Sept. 13. "Well we certainly expect him to be ready to go, I hope," coach Rex Ryan said Monday, Aug. 31. "If not then the next man has to step up. Boobie (Anthony Dixon) got a lot of reps out there today. Bryce Brown got a lot of reps today. So we will see. I am not going to put that all on one man. If he is not ready to go, he won't be in there."

Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on the situation if you're a McCoy owner, obviously. However, this also means that Dixon and/or Brown could be excellent one-week plays in traditional leagues and FantasyScore.

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 09:16:12 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) is doing conditioning drills on the side at practice Thursday, Aug. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Shady is a high-end RB1 that may not make it out of the first round.

Bills | Buffalo optimistic about LeSean McCoy

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 10:42:07 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) injured his hamstring in practice earlier this week, but head coach Rex Ryan is "cautiously optimistic" that the running back will return in time for Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. The team didn't reveal the results of McCoy's MRI exam, but Ryan said that McCoy's hamstring was intact and hadn't separated from the bone.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy's injury will worry fantasy football owners, but as long as he's healthy in time for the start of the regular season, he should remain an RB1 worth taking in the early rounds. McCoy should have a heavy workload in what will likely be a run-first team.

Bills | LeSean McCoy will be ready for opener

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 05:58:03 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) will be ready for Week 1, a source said after McCoy had an MRI.

Fantasy Tip: Shady's injury comes at a bad time and could be something that can linger. He's still a high-end RB1, but he has some worries involved as well.

Bills | LeSean McCoy will have MRI

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 16:47:41 -0700

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) will have an MRI on the hamstring injury that caused him to leave practice Tuesday, Aug. 18. The hamstring is not off the bone, however.

Fantasy Tip: It could have been worse, but McCoy could still be sidelined for a bit even if it's a strain. This situation will obviously need to be monitored, as the MRI will show the extent of the injury.

Bills | LeSean McCoy leaves early

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 16:12:15 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (leg) limped off the field Tuesday, Aug. 18, as he grabbed the back of his left leg. McCoy was looked at by team trainers and went to the locker room.

Fantasy Tip: This could very well be a hamstring injury, which can be extra annoying, especially for running backs. McCoy's status will obviously need to be monitored as training camp and the preseason continue. As it stands, McCoy is a low-end RB1 to high-end RB2, but this injury could set him back some if he misses any time. If McCoy does end up missing time, Fred Jackson will gain value, particularly in PPR leagues.

Bills | LeSean McCoy admits to rust

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 19:32:19 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy had six carries for 16 yards in a preseason game against the Carolina Panthers Friday, Aug. 14, and said after the game that he didn't play well and needs to knock of some rust.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy is set for a big workload with the Bills this season. He should be considered a RB1 in all formats and should slip past the second round.

Bills | Coach has high hopes for LeSean McCoy

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 12:00:39 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy has the ability to record 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards this season, according to head coach Rex Ryan. "LeSean McCoy is a special back, a very talented guy. His merits stand up for themselves, he's led the league in rushing, but he's a multi-dimensional guy," Ryan said. "He can dominate a game in the passing game and the running game, so that's what we're going to use him for, that Marshall Faulk - does he have 1,000 receiving and 1,000 rushing? That's a real possibility."

Fantasy Tip: McCoy is expected to be used a lot this season, and his value would receive a boost if he is involved in the passing game as well. McCoy should be selected in the first or second round in every draft this season.

Bills | LeSean McCoy's toe a non-issue

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 15:44:17 -0700

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy's (toe) toe injury is of no concern, and he looked great in practice Thursday, Aug. 6.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy is a fair target late in the first round in all types of leagues, but he'll also need to continue catching plenty of passes out of the backfield in order to be worth the squeeze in point-per-reception formats. Will he get that in Buffalo?

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 12:34:29 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (toe) fully participated in practice Thursday, Aug. 6. McCoy sat out team drills for a few days because of a toe injury.

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 09:48:57 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (toe) has not been participating in team drills over the last few days because of a toe injury.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy likely will be able to fully participate in practice in a few days and should be fine moving forward. McCoy is expected to receive a lot of carries this season and should be selected in the first round or two in most drafts.

Bills | LeSean McCoy amps it up

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 07:40:38 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy increased his workload Wednesday, Aug. 5, after receiving a lighter load the previous two days.

Fantasy Tip: Shady is a surefire RB1 and shouldn't fall to the second round of drafts.

Bills | LeSean McCoy adjusting to having a FB

Mon, 03 Aug 2015 06:20:12 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy is adjusting to having a fullback in front of him for the first time since college. Bills head coach Rex Ryan believes in a physical style of football that requires a lead blocker, in this case FB Jerome Felton.

Fantasy Tip: It may take some getting used to on McCoy's part, but it will save him a few big hits and could spring several long runs throughout the year. He remains an RB1 somewhere in the late first or early second rounds.

Bills | LeSean McCoy scares opponents?

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 18:25:51 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy strikes more fear into defenses than Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray, according to a top personnel executive. "I'll take McCoy over Murray every time," the personnel executive said. "When you played the Eagles, you feared McCoy. He was the guy who scared you the most. When you played Dallas, you didn't fear Murray. He's good. But you didn't fear him. You feared Dez (Bryant), or (Tony) Romo, but not Murray."

Fantasy Tip: Both McCoy and Murray have RB1 potential. McCoy is probably the safer bet because he is in line for a workhorse role in Buffalo, but Murray is a high-end RB2 at the very least.

Bills | LeSean McCoy has struggled vs. AFC East

Tue, 07 Jul 2015 16:22:19 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy hasn't seen a lot of action against AFC East teams in his career. However, when he has played against them, he hasn't seen much success. In four career games against AFC East opponents, McCoy has averaged only 62.8 rushing yards per game and 3.8 yards per carry. He has, however, scored seven times in those four games.

Fantasy Tip: The AFC East usually boasts one of the best defensive conferences in the league every year. McCoy will have plenty of opportunities to improve on those yardage numbers in 2015 as he'll play against the three divisional opponents twice each. While he has struggled in the past, he should still be regarded as a low-end RB1.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (neck) participated in organized team activities Wednesday, June 3.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy has been dealing with a neck injury but looks to be fine since he is back at practice. McCoy is expected to receive a lot of work under head coach Rex Ryan and likely will be selected in one of the first few rounds in fantasy leagues.

Bills | LeSean McCoy at 300 carries?

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 08:10:56 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy is expected to receive 300 carries this season, according to teammate RB Fred Jackson. "I don't know exactly what my role is going to be, Jackson said. "They say that they want Shady (McCoy) to get 300-plus carries next year. So that's a guy you're feeding the ball all the time. So I'll be ready when my number is called."

Fantasy Tip: McCoy's status as an RB1 seems to be gaining steam into the upper echelon. We still can't see taking him higher than the fifth running back with the uncertainty of the parts around him. Jackson's stock is pretty dormant right now, but he's a solid RB4 and insurance for Shady owners.

Bills | LeSean McCoy limited Wednesday

Wed, 27 May 2015 18:48:44 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (neck) was limited during organized team activities Wednesday, May 27, because of a neck injury. Head coach Rex Ryan said McCoy's injury is not serious.

Fantasy Tip: The team likely will take things slow with McCoy since he does not need to participate in offseason workouts. He should see plenty of playing time since Ryan wants to be able to run the ball. McCoy likely will be a first-round option in most drafts this upcoming season.

Bills | LeSean McCoy, Fred Jackson to split third downs?

Tue, 31 Mar 2015 15:05:45 -0700

Buffalo Bills RBs LeSean McCoy and Fred Jackson could split third-down snaps. Head coach Rex Ryan said Jackson wouldn't be in on all of the third-down plays and that RB Anthony Dixon would also get some playing time.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy is obviously still the Buffalo running back to own and will be the team's bellcow running back, as Ryan has said. Jackson should still provide some value, especially in point-per-reception leagues, but he won't be nearly as effective as he was last season.

Eagles | Chip Kelly favors one-cut runners

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 06:58:57 -0700

The Philadelphia Eagles traded RB LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills because head coach Chip Kelly desires a one-cut running back, according to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. Lurie praised McCoy as a player, but the move was not financially driven. Kelly felt he could garner more production from a different running back or two. Lurie used the term "power spread" on multiple occasions to describe Kelly's offense. RBs DeMarco Murray, Darren Sproles and Ryan Mathews figure to share the work.

Fantasy Tip: Murray was one of the best players in fantasy last season, but there's almost no way he can repeat that kind of performance with two other legit backs wanting the ball. With Sproles an elite receiver from the RB position, Murray may find it difficult to repeat his 57 receptions from a year ago. Murray still rates as a mid-to-low RB1. Sproles is a capable RB3 in PPR leagues. Mathews' role is a little cloudy, but he is likely a low-end RB3 for now.

Bills | LeSean McCoy trade was quick

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 10:31:26 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy was acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles March 4, and Bills head coach Rex Ryan said the trade took 30 minutes to wrap up. "The trade for LeSean happened really quick," Ryan said at the NFL owners meetings. "We were all sitting there. We were having organizational meetings. ... And all of the sudden we get this call from Philadelphia and I think that was when the trade started. Probably 30 minutes later, the trade was done."

Fantasy Tip: Shady moves to a ground-and-pound approach in Buffalo under Ryan, but the move is likely a mixed bag for his 2015 fantasy value. To be safe, he's better viewed as a high-end RB2 with potential for more depending on how Buffalo uses McCoy and Fred Jackson together.

Bills | LeSean McCoy Buffalo's bellcow

Tue, 24 Mar 2015 07:31:51 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy was referred to as the team's "bellcow" by head coach Rex Ryan. Ryan said that McCoy and RB Fred Jackson could see time on third downs.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like the team will feature McCoy heavily, which helps shed doubt on Jackson's involvement. Jackson's value falls to the high-end RB4 territory, while Shady is best served as a midrange RB1.

Bills | Rex Ryan committed to the run

Sat, 21 Mar 2015 15:57:52 -0700

Buffalo Bills RBs LeSean McCoy and Fred Jackson are expected to receive a lot of carries in head coach Rex Ryan's offense. Ryan went as far as to say: "we're going to run it 50 times if we can on you."

Fantasy Tip: This really doesn't change much because it's not often that you can run the ball effectively 50 times against another NFL team. Shady McCoy is a mid-to-low RB1 right now, while Jackson's fantasy appeal is a little clouded. He could be a low-end RB2 or a high-end RB3.

Bills | Buffalo officially adds LeSean McCoy

Tue, 10 Mar 2015 14:12:55 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy has officially been traded to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for LB Kiko Alonso.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy should see a lot of work in the offense after the team gave him a new contract. He should be involved in the running and passing game next season. He likely will be an option in the first round of drafts and should be a weekly start.

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy has agreed to a new five-year deal worth $40 million. McCoy will make $16 million in the first year of the contract and will receive $26.5 million in guaranteed money as part of the contract.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy should see a lot of playing time after receiving a big contract from the Bills. He probably will be selected in the first round of fantasy drafts next season and should be a weekly starting option.

Bills | LeSean McCoy to receive new deal

Sun, 08 Mar 2015 09:24:08 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy has agreed to a new five-year deal with the Bills, according to a source. McCoy will receive more guaranteed money up front as part of the new deal.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy could receive a majority of the carries with the Bills this season, but he probably will have to share some carries with other running backs on the roster. McCoy likely will be a candidate to be selected in the first round of drafts next season.

Bills | LeSean McCoy nearing new deal

Sat, 07 Mar 2015 13:28:05 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy is likely to have a new contract when the 2015 league year begins Tuesday, March 10.

Fantasy Tip: Shady's down year and his questionable new offense likely puts him into the mid-to-late portions of the first round in traditional drafts. Rex Ryan loves to run the ball, but McCoy will likely share the load with Fred Jackson.

Bills | LeSean McCoy ready to move on

Wed, 04 Mar 2015 20:08:32 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy is "ready to move on" a day after he was informed the Philadelphia Eagles planned to trade him to the Bills, a source close to the running back said Wednesday, March 4.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy remains an RB1 for fantasy owners heading into 2015, but he is no longer in the conversation for top pick on draft day, especially as long as Fred Jackson remains healthy. The good news for Bills fans is that McCoy has come to grips with the deal and now sounds positive about his new team. He might come to enjoy the offense of Rex Ryan quite a bit more than that of Chip Kelly's, as Rex loves the ground and pound style.

Bills | Buffalo to restructure LeSean McCoy

Wed, 04 Mar 2015 17:02:08 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy will reportedly be given a revised contract with his new team. McCoy is currently without any guaranteed money in 2016, which would change. The Bills plan to "take very good care of him," according to a source familiar with the team's thinking.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear how McCoy's unhappiness with his trade to Buffalo might affect things, but a restructuring of his contract is a good place to start for the Bills to appease him. His move to Buffalo is a mixed bag for his fantasy value, since Fred Jackson and Bryce Brown are also in the picture. Consider him a high-end RB that could come at a reasonable discount.

Bills | LeSean McCoy unhappy with trade

Wed, 04 Mar 2015 07:54:30 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy is unhappy with the trade to the Bills, according to a source close to him. "He's a Pennsylvania kid. He's never played football outside of Pennsylvania," the source said. "So of course he's not happy. Sounds like it's pretty final to me unless LeSean is refusing to go to Buffalo." When the source was asked if McCoy was going to make the trade difficult, they said: "he's not going to make it easy, that's for sure."

Fantasy Tip: McCoy didn't appear to fit Chip Kelly's offense very well, and the offensive line was pretty rough at times. Rex Ryan is known to run the ball often. Shady might not be used as a receiver as much, but that could actually bode well for him through the course of 16 games. He's still a low-end RB1, but he might actually come at a slight discount because of his down year and the clouded outlook of Buffalo's offense.

Bills | LeSean McCoy will be costly for BUF

Tue, 03 Mar 2015 15:58:06 -0800

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy has two years left on his current contract that will cost $6.9 million and $7.6 million, respectively.

Fantasy Tip: The Bills needed another running back with C.J. Spiller becoming a free agent, and McCoy is a dynamic back, but he's not coming cheap. Still, as long as McCoy stays healthy, he should remain in RB1 territory with Buffalo.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy to be traded

Tue, 03 Mar 2015 15:39:53 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy will reportedly be traded for Buffalo Bills LB Kiko Alonso.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy will inevitably start with C.J. Spiller on his way out and Fred Jackson aging; although, Jackson will likely still cut into some of McCoy's time. Jackson was used frequently in the passing game in 2014, while McCoy regressed in that area in Philadelphia. As for the Eagles, Darren Sproles figures to see a nice boost in fantasy value, while Chris Polk becomes a sleeper candidate.

Philadelphia Eagles impending free-agent WR Jeremy Maclin had a career year in 2014, but the team may have trouble re-signing him due to salary cap issues. The Eagles may not be able to retain both Maclin and RB LeSean McCoy. McCoy is under contract for another three years, but his salary cap number increases to $11.9 million in 2015, unless he restructures his current deal. If the Eagles cannot re-sign Maclin, they would have to commit more than $12 million for using the franchise tag on him.

Eagles | Chris Polk the goal-line back?

Thu, 18 Dec 2014 10:18:47 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Chris Polk appears to have become the team's goal-line back of late, and two of the three snaps he played in Week 15 led to short rushing touchdowns. On another snap inside the five-yard line, RB Darren Sproles took the ball for a TD. The Eagles have struggled in the red zone this year, and they think Polk's size and power gives him an advantage at the goal line. "Some of the short-yardage stuff, Polk's obviously a little bit more powerful back, so they've been giving him some of the runs in short-yardage in a couple games, especially last game," RB LeSean McCoy said. McCoy has 10 carries inside the five-yard line this year and has three touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: Polk ($3,300) is a very deep flex play, at best, at FantasyScore, and the matchup against the Washington Redskins isn't a good one for either Polk or LeSean McCoy ($7,100) in Week 16.

Eagles | Shady opens practice on sidelines

Wed, 17 Dec 2014 21:56:05 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy opened practice on the sidelines Wednesday, Dec. 17, while RB Chris Polk opened with first-team reps. After practice McCoy did not seem too concerned. "We rotate all the time," McCoy said. "(Running backs coach Duce Staley) pulled me out. (RB Darren Sproles) wasn't in either." Shady played a season-low 34 of 55 offensive snaps in Week 15 against the Dallas Cowboys, his fewest in two seasons under head coach Chip Kelly.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain if this means anything, but FantasyScore owners should avoid McCoy at $7,100 (or 14.2% of the cap) until there is more clarity in the Philadelphia backfield.

Sun, 07 Dec 2014 15:49:14 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy passed former RB Wilbert Montgomery as the franchise all-time leading rusher in Week 14 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy (personal) did not practice Friday, Dec. 5. McCoy was excused for personal reasons.

Fantasy Tip: This should be no concern for McCoy this weekend, but check his status on game day just to be sure. McCoy will cost $7,500 in FantasyScore this week and should be considered for your roster.

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy ran for a season-high 159 yards and a score on 25 carries in a 33-10 victory over the Dallas Cowboys Thursday, Nov. 27.

Sun, 23 Nov 2014 15:04:42 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy is averaging 95 yards per game and 4.5 yards per carry over the past seven weeks.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy started slowly, but he is starting to show why owners in weekly fantasy leagues nabbed him in the first round. FantasyScore owners have been enjoying discount prices on McCoy, but the more productive he is, the more his price tag will rise in coming weeks.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy finally shows up

Sun, 23 Nov 2014 14:00:31 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy carried 21 times for 130 yards and a rushing touchdown in Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans, and he added one reception for just one yard.

Fantasy Tip: Shady was hounded by reporters questioning if he has lost a step, and he responded with his third 100-yard in the past six outings. He has also found the end zone twice in the past three games after managing just one touchdown through the first eight games. McCoy is still a dangerous option in FantasyScore when the matchup is favorable such as Sunday against Tennessee's leaky rush defense.

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy said he is the same player he was last season even though he is only averaging 3.7 yards per carry this season, which is the lowest in his career.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy led the NFL in rushing in 2013 with 1,607 yards but has rushed for only 729 yards so far this season. McCoy will be facing a Tennessee Titans defense that has struggled against running backs this season. McCoy costs $6,900 on FantasyScore and should be a solid starting option against the Titans.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy's futility worst of career

Fri, 14 Nov 2014 06:25:21 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy averaged fewer than 2 yards per carry for the third time this season with 12 carries for 19 yards against the Carolina Panthers in Week 10. McCoy had two games of fewer than 2 yards per carry in his career before this season.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy ($7,200; 14.4% of your cap) figures to have a good chance for a big game against the futile Green Bay Packers run defense this week. However, the Panthers ranked 26th in the league. He's a boom or bust RB1 on FantasyScore this week.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy practicing

Thu, 06 Nov 2014 08:16:52 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy (illness) is participating in practice Thursday, Nov. 6.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy appears to be improving after missing practice Wednesday, Nov. 5, because of the illness. He probably will be able to play in Week 10 and should be a solid starting option if owners on FantasyScore are willing to spend $7,200 on him.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy out with illness

Wed, 05 Nov 2014 11:13:29 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy (illness) missed practice with an illness Wednesday, Nov. 5, but he should be back Thursday, Nov. 6, and ready to go for the team's Week 10 game against the Carolina Panthers Monday, Nov. 10.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy ($7,200) will be fine for Monday night against the Panthers, a defense that has surprisingly been pretty awful all season long. McCoy isn't a bad option for FantasyScore lineups, and the team could lean more on the ground game with Mark Sanchez in at quarterback.

Eagles | LeSean McCoy hits century mark

Sun, 12 Oct 2014 20:37:13 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy carried 22 times for a season-high 149 yards in Week 6 against the New York Giants, although he was held out of the end zone again. He also chipped in with two receptions for five yards.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners finally saw Shady get untracked, but now the team faces a bye in Week 7. McCoy might have the carries all to himself once the team returns, as Darren Sproles left with a knee injury in Sunday's game.
