Packers | Three catches for Jared Cook

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 18:05:00 -0800

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook posted three receptions for 19 yards on four targets in the Week 13 game against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: After hitting triple digits in receiving yardage with a score in Week 11 in Washington, Cook has just four grabs for 26 yards on six targets over the past two outings. He still cannot be trusted on a regular basis in most fantasy leagues.

Packers | Jared Cook held down on MNF

Mon, 28 Nov 2016 21:25:00 -0800

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook posted just one catch for seven yards in the Week 12 game against the Philadelphia Eagles Monday, Nov. 28. He was targeted twice.

Fantasy Tip: Cook went over 100 yards last week in Washington, but he was obviously held in check in this one. Inconsistency has been a huge problem over his career. He remains more of a TE2 in all fantasy leagues heading into Week 13 against the Houston Texans.

Packers | Jared Cook returns in style

Mon, 21 Nov 2016 09:42:20 -0800

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook returned from a seven-week absence due to a high-ankle sprain and playing 43-of-71 snaps in a Week 11 loss to the Washington Redskins. He finished with six catches on 11 targets for 105 yards and a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Remember when folks were pegging Cook as a late-round value pick this summer? He has always been capable of being one of the best fantasy tight ends in the league, but the quality of his quarterback play, lack of durability and his own inconsistency has almost always gotten in the way. Expect Cook to be a hot waiver-wire pickup this week, although he is a poor bet to produce in Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles' stingy tight end defense.

Packers | Jared Cook expected to play

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 08:06:30 -0800

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (ankle) is expected to be active for the team's Week 11 game. Cook has not played since Week 3 because of the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Cook may be eased back into the lineup since he has missed around two months because of the injury. Owners in all leagues probably should look for other options to use and can avoid Cook.

Packers | Jared Cook set to return Week 11

Fri, 18 Nov 2016 10:56:52 -0800

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (ankle) "looks likely to play" in Week 11 against the Washington Redskins, ending a seven-week absence due to a high-ankle sprain.

Fantasy Tip: Cook was a bit of a preseason darling, presumably to serve as the same kind of threat in between the hashes that Jermichael Finley used to, but the timing of this injury pretty much nixed that. With Davante Adams emerging alongside Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, Cook is unlikely to be much of a factor in fantasy down the stretch.

Packers | Jared Cook takes part in practice

Wed, 16 Nov 2016 14:18:09 -0800

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Cook has a very good chance to play in Week 11, but owners will need to check on his status later in the week. He probably will have a limited role in his first game back and can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Packers | Jared Cook limited

Wed, 09 Nov 2016 15:08:02 -0800

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Cook has not played since September because of his injury but may have a chance to play in Week 10. He probably would have a limited role in the passing game if he is active and can be avoided in fantasy leagues.

Packers | Jared Cook progressing

Tue, 01 Nov 2016 21:35:12 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (ankle) took a "big step" as he works his way back from injury, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. While it's unclear if Cook will practice this week, McCarthy indicated he is making progress.

Fantasy Tip: Cook wasn't doing a lot prior to his injury. That being said, the tight end position has more or less fallen off the map in Green Bay without him. His return might create some opportunities on offense, but until he's healthy there's no reason to even consider scooping him up.

Packers | Jared Cook won't practice this week

Tue, 25 Oct 2016 13:08:22 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (ankle) said he will not resume practicing this week as he continues to nurse a sprained right ankle.

Fantasy Tip: Cook hasn't played since Week 3, and Richard Rodgers has done little to warrant starter consideration. Green Bay's tight end situation is any easy one to avoid, at least until Cook returns.

Packers | Jared Cook out four to six weeks

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 06:54:12 -0700

Updating previous reports, Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (ankle) is expected to miss four to six weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Cook and Richard Rodgers have been borderline useless in fantasy thus far, but that has to change with the inconsistent offense. Rodgers is a matchup play while Cook is out.

Packers | Jared Cook misses practice

Wed, 05 Oct 2016 14:29:57 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Cook is dealing with a high ankle sprain and probably will not be able to play in Week 5. Richard Rodgers likely will start at tight end but is not a strong fantasy option since he has only five receptions and 56 yards this season.

Packers | No progress for Jared Cook

Mon, 03 Oct 2016 09:42:46 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (ankle) will not practice Monday, Oct. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Cook suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 3 against the Detroit Lions and obviously did not improve much during the team's bye in Week 4. He shouldn't be expected to return to practice for at least another couple of weeks either, so owners in most leagues are justified in dropping him as they begin to deal with bye-week crunches. Richard Rodgers should see more snaps in his absence and makes for an interesting TE2 option.

Packers | Jared Cook has high ankle sprain

Tue, 27 Sep 2016 05:41:57 -0700

Updating previous reports, Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (ankle) has a high ankle sprain that could cost him some time.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers have a bye in Week 4, but Cook and counterpart Richard Rodgers are only fringe options to own in fantasy at this point.

Packers | Jared Cook's injury not season-ending

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 10:08:27 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (ankle) was spotted on crutches and in a boot after being carted to the locker room during a Week 3 win over the Detroit Lions. The team is still the process of determining whether Cook will be sidelined for multiple weeks or whether he'll be able to return after Green Bay's bye in Week 4.

Fantasy Tip: Cook was a few inches away on a pair of targets from having an explosive first half versus the Lions, including the play which resulted in his injury when a defender rolled up on him on the downhill throw. Still, it will be hard for even the most fervent Cook owners to hold him now, especially if he is forced to miss multiple weeks. Richard Rodgers should become a near full-time player in Cook's absence and should be considered a streaming option in Week 5 versus the New York Giants.

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 12:59:33 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (ankle) did not return to his team's game Sunday, Sept. 25, against the Detroit Lions due to an ankle injury.

Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on this situation and how it looks for Cook moving forward. Richard Rodgers could benefit from increased playing time if Cook can't go next week.

Packers | Jared Cook waiting for his chance

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 10:45:49 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook is unconcerned about his lack of Week 1 production and suggested some of the plays that were called for him against the Jacksonville Jaguars were scrapped because the Jaguars provided safety help over the top, opening up chances for teammates. "It's fun, man. It's hard for the defense to be right, you know? It's hard for them to single out one guy and go after one guy, or single out two guys and go out two guys. It's a fun offense to be a part of because any given day, or any given Sunday, anybody is going to get off," Cook said.

Fantasy Tip: Despite his lackluster Week 1 showing, Cook remains a strong hold as a high-upside TE2 in an offense that views him as the downfield threat it hasn't had since Jermichael Finley. Owners can expect another slow game versus the Minnesota Vikings this week, but he has mouthwatering matchups versus the Detroit Lions and New York Giants over the next two weeks.

Packers | Jared Cook gets comfortable with QB

Tue, 23 Aug 2016 18:56:08 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook will play his first preseason game with QB Aaron Rodgers Friday, Aug. 26, against the San Francisco 49ers. The two have developed a rapport with one another since Cook came off the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list Aug. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Cook is behind Richard Rodgers on the depth chart, so fantasy owners can leave him to the waiver wire into the regular season. However, he still has plenty left in the tank and could be a key contributor if Richard Rodgers suffers some sort of long-term injury.

Packers | Jared Cook impresses in first practice

Tue, 09 Aug 2016 23:52:38 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (foot) made a positive impression during his first training camp action, hauling in several impressive grabs in practice on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Signed to a free-agent deal during the offseason, Cook is competing with holdover Richard Rodgers for the No. 1 tight end job. If he can outlast Rodgers, Cook would be an interesting reserve with upside.

Packers | Jared Cook returns from PUP list

Tue, 09 Aug 2016 15:25:41 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (foot) has been cleared and is coming off the Physically Unable to Perform list Tuesday, Aug. 9, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Green Bay's tight end situation still isn't set in stone with Cooks' return. Richard Rodgers and Cook will battle for the starting position. Whoever wins the job could make for a nice sleeper this year, but shouldn't be viewed as a starting fantasy tight end.

Packers | Jared Cook nearing a return

Sun, 07 Aug 2016 18:41:18 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (foot) might return from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list next week, QB Aaron Rodgers said Sunday, Aug. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Cook will be behind Richard Rodgers on the depth chart, so his fantasy appeal is limited to the deepest of formats unless Rodgers suffers some sort of long-term injury.

Packers | No timetable for Jared Cook

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 22:58:27 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (foot) does not have a timetable for a return from foot surgery, although a league source said Tuesday, July 26, that he might be on track to return by the second week of preseason.

Fantasy Tip: Cook is behind Richard Rodgers on the depth chart, and not expected to be a fantasy target for most owners unless Rodgers suffers some sort of a long-term injury.

Packers | Some Packers may not practice

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 11:19:27 -0700

Green Bay Packers WR Jordy Nelson (knee) and TE Jared Cook (foot) and others may initially be held out of training camp practices.

Fantasy Tip: It would behoove the Packers to take it easy with Nelson, who is coming off a torn anterior cruciate ligament. If Nelson doesn't suffer any setbacks, though, he's primed for another WR1 season. Meanwhile, it's still unclear if Cook will be starting at tight end for Green Bay. Richard Rodgers could take that spot, but neither should be pursued as a fantasy starter.

Packers | Richard Rodgers starter over Jared Cook?

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 16:44:40 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Richard Rodgers is expected to start over TE Jared Cook, not just in 2016, but for the next few seasons, according to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. An advantage Rodgers has this season is that he is in better shape after weighing up to 272 pounds last year.

Fantasy Tip: The tight end position has been fairly underwhelming in Green Bay for a few years now. Rodgers and Cook could very well play as a committee together when all is said and done. Neither should be drafted as a starting fantasy tight end.

Packers | Richard Rodgers embracing Jared Cook

Sat, 02 Jul 2016 18:05:58 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Richard Rodgers said he is working to improve as an all-around player, and he views the addition of TE Jared Cook as an opportunity to learn from a veteran.

Fantasy Tip: Rodgers caught eight touchdowns last year, but a healthy Jordy Nelson will push him down the pecking order in the passing game. At best, he is a backup fantasy tight end.

Packers | No long-term concern about Jared Cook

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 22:17:31 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (foot) is nursing a foot injury, but the team is not concerned about his outlook heading into the season. "Jared Cook, we have no long-term concern with his situation. It will be good to have him back," head coach Mike McCarthy said Monday, June 6.

Fantasy Tip: The injury to Cook's foot, as well as the presence of Richard Rodgers, limits the fantasy appeal of Cook, even in an offense with Aaron Rodgers. It might take an injury to Richard Rodgers before Cook is worth a look across the board in fantasy.

Packers | Jared Cook's injury not a concern

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 13:00:27 -0700

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook (foot) is not expected to have long-term issues with his foot injury, according to head coach Mike McCarthy. Cook does not have a timetable for a return yet, but doctors do feel good about his return.

Fantasy Tip: Even though the injury isn't considered a long-term concern, the situation is still a little bit unsettling. Given the injury and his past lack of success, he should not be taken as a TE1 even in one of the NFL's most prolific offenses.
