Patriots | Key Patriots absent Thursday

Thu, 26 May 2016 15:17:29 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot), RB LeGarrette Blount (knee), RB Dion Lewis (knee), WR Danny Amendola (ankle, knee) and TE Rob Gronkowski (undisclosed) did not participate in organized team activities Thursday, May 26.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots are infamous for their vague injury reports and resting of players. Obviously they're going to take caution with the players listed above, though. As long as none of these guys suffer any setbacks this offseason, they should be good to go for the start of the regular season. Edelman and Gronk should both be viewed as fantasy starters at their respective positions, with more value in PPR formats. Lewis is an RB2 candidate in PPR formats if he can stay healthy, while Blount has RB3 potential if he, too, can keep his health. Amendola is the biggest injury risk; he shouldn't be viewed as more than a low-end WR4 to high-end WR5.

Patriots | Julian Edelman had surgery

Wed, 11 May 2016 12:36:15 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) recently underwent foot surgery but is still on pace to participate in training camp, according to sources. The surgery was a cleanup procedure for which Edelman was seen wearing a boot.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't sound like there's anything to worry too much about here, unless Edelman aggravates the issue during offseason work. As long as he's healthy heading into the season, Edelman should be drafted as a WR1 in PPR leagues, even with Tom Brady expected to be suspended for the first four games.

Patriots | Nate Washington could be cut

Mon, 09 May 2016 11:21:54 -0700

New England Patriots WR Nate Washington is not a lock for the final roster, in the opinion of ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss. Reiss indicated that only WRs Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Danny Amendola and Malcolm Mitchell are locks for the 53-man roster.

Fantasy Tip: It's interesting that a veteran like Washington wouldn't be a guarantee in the Patriots' relatively shallow receiver corps, especially considering Amendola's injury history. Washington should not be viewed as more than a WR5.

Patriots | Chris Hogan to line up outside

Sat, 12 Mar 2016 15:38:53 -0800

New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan is likely to be the team's "X" receiver with WR Julian Edelman at the "Z" receiver and WR Danny Amendola in the slot. Hogan is bigger and stronger than the other two, but he has some deep-ball skills.

Fantasy Tip: Hogan looks like a nice sleeper as it stands right now. He could very well move into the WR4 range before the season begins.

Patriots | Three key Patriots active Sunday

Sun, 24 Jan 2016 10:48:37 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Julian Edelman (foot) and Danny Amendola (knee) and TE Rob Gronkowski (knee, back) are all officially active for the AFC Championship against the Denver Broncos Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: There was really no doubt that these three would play despite their questionable tags. New England's passing game could be utilized early and often against the Broncos; Edelman ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) and Gronk ($8,000, 16.0%) have more upside, but Amendola ($6,100, 12.2%) is also worth a look if you're rostering a FantasyScore playoff team.

Patriots | Three Pats questionable

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 12:51:57 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (knee) and Julian Edelman (foot) and TE Rob Gronkowski (knee, back) were limited in practice all week and are questionable to face the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: All three players will suit up this weekend and could all have a big impact in the passing game. Amendola ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) might be overlooked by most and could thrive with Denver paying more attention to Edelman ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) and Gronkowski ($8,000, 16.0% of cap). It's hard not to like both Edelman and Gronk when they're healthy.

Patriots | Julian Edelman likes playoffs

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 09:19:31 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman has the most targets, catches and receiving yards in the playoffs since the start of the 2013 postseason.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) had 10 catches (16 targets) for 100 yards in the divisional round after having not played since Nov. 15. He's certainly healthy, and he's a great daily pick against the Denver Broncos this weekend. He's likely to draw a banged up Chris Harris Jr. in the slot, too.

Patriots | Three Patriots limited

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 14:26:41 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (knee) and Julian Edelman (foot) and TE Rob Gronkowski (knee, back) were all limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Jan. 21.

Fantasy Tip: All three players are acceptable picks on FantasyScore this weekend, with Amendola ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) being more of a sleeper of flex play. Gronk ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) has excellent history against the Denver Broncos and is worth paying up for.

Patriots | Three Patriots limited

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 14:53:00 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (knee) and Julian Edelman (foot) and TE Rob Gronkowski (knee, back) were all limited in practice Wednesday, Jan. 20.

Fantasy Tip: All three players will be fine for the AFC Championship against the Denver Broncos. Both Amendola ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) and Edelman ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) didn't face Denver in the earlier matchup this year, but both are acceptable daily plays even against a tough Broncos defense. Gronk ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) had a nice game against Denver before being hurt in Week 12, and tight ends have been a thorn in the Broncos' side.

Patriots | Julian Edelman readies for Denver

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 20:10:06 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman posted 10 grabs for 100 yards in the win over the Kansas City Chiefs last week, now he will set his sights on the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) missed the first meeting with the Broncos in Week 11 due to his foot injury. He looked fine last week, and didn't appear to have any ill-effects from the injury. He had at least four grabs and 50 yards in each of his 10 games this season, and Edelman has reached the end zone seven times. The short and intermediate stuff will be how New England moves against a stingy Denver pass defense, so look for plenty of grabs for Edelman similar to last weekend.
