Patriots | Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola progress

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 08:39:31 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) an WR Danny Amendola (ankle, knee) ran hills Friday, July 29, and appear close to returning to practice.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman is coming off of a broken foot and will be without Tom Brady for the first four games. Those issues are enough to push him down into the high-end WR2 range in fantasy. Amendola has been a bit of a fantasy tease, but he has struggled to stay on the field and remain a consistent fantasy threat. He'll have potential for big games occasionally, but he's best left to the WR5 area.

Patriots | Julian Edelman should be good to go

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 11:08:04 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) is expected to be removed from the Physically Unable to Perform list in the near future.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman avoided a serious injury, but we don't really know just how much he'll be able to practice yet. He probably won't miss the start of the regular season, but an eye should be kept on his progress throughout training camp and preseason. Edelman is a borderline WR1 in PPR leagues.

Patriots | Three notable Pats put on PUP list

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 16:13:35 -0700

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (ankle, knee) and Julian Edelman (foot) and RB Dion Lewis (knee) were all placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, July 25.

Fantasy Tip: Amendola has had trouble staying on the field throughout his career and is an untrustworthy fantasy football commodity. Leave him to the waiver wire in standard leagues. Keep an eye on Edelman's progress this fall, but if he's ready for Week 1, he should be firmly in WR2 territory with more intrigue in PPR leagues. Despite a strong season for Lewis in 2015 before his injury, his injury makes him extremely risky. Not to mention the fact he's never had more than 50 carries in a season in the NFL. He's running back depth in deeper leagues and could be a flex option in certain weeks in PPR formats.

Patriots | Julian Edelman feeling better

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 14:11:42 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) said his injured foot is feeling better, but he is not sure when he will be cleared to practice.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman should have a decent chance to be ready for the start of the regular season, but owners should keep an eye on the situation. His fantasy value will take a hit since Jimmy Garoppolo is starting the first four games, but he should still be a solid starting option for owners.

Patriots | Julian Edelman absent at minicamp

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 19:39:45 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) has been absent for the first two days of practice at minicamp as he continues to recover from a foot injury.

Fantasy Tip: His absence isn't a surprise, as he had surgery recently and he isn't expected to be ready until training camp. Barring any setbacks he will once again be a WR1 in most fantasy formats, especially leagues which reward points per reception (PPR).

Patriots | Key Patriots absent Thursday

Thu, 26 May 2016 15:17:29 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot), RB LeGarrette Blount (knee), RB Dion Lewis (knee), WR Danny Amendola (ankle, knee) and TE Rob Gronkowski (undisclosed) did not participate in organized team activities Thursday, May 26.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots are infamous for their vague injury reports and resting of players. Obviously they're going to take caution with the players listed above, though. As long as none of these guys suffer any setbacks this offseason, they should be good to go for the start of the regular season. Edelman and Gronk should both be viewed as fantasy starters at their respective positions, with more value in PPR formats. Lewis is an RB2 candidate in PPR formats if he can stay healthy, while Blount has RB3 potential if he, too, can keep his health. Amendola is the biggest injury risk; he shouldn't be viewed as more than a low-end WR4 to high-end WR5.

Patriots | Julian Edelman had surgery

Wed, 11 May 2016 12:36:15 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) recently underwent foot surgery but is still on pace to participate in training camp, according to sources. The surgery was a cleanup procedure for which Edelman was seen wearing a boot.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't sound like there's anything to worry too much about here, unless Edelman aggravates the issue during offseason work. As long as he's healthy heading into the season, Edelman should be drafted as a WR1 in PPR leagues, even with Tom Brady expected to be suspended for the first four games.

Patriots | Nate Washington could be cut

Mon, 09 May 2016 11:21:54 -0700

New England Patriots WR Nate Washington is not a lock for the final roster, in the opinion of ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss. Reiss indicated that only WRs Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Danny Amendola and Malcolm Mitchell are locks for the 53-man roster.

Fantasy Tip: It's interesting that a veteran like Washington wouldn't be a guarantee in the Patriots' relatively shallow receiver corps, especially considering Amendola's injury history. Washington should not be viewed as more than a WR5.

Patriots | Chris Hogan to line up outside

Sat, 12 Mar 2016 15:38:53 -0800

New England Patriots WR Chris Hogan is likely to be the team's "X" receiver with WR Julian Edelman at the "Z" receiver and WR Danny Amendola in the slot. Hogan is bigger and stronger than the other two, but he has some deep-ball skills.

Fantasy Tip: Hogan looks like a nice sleeper as it stands right now. He could very well move into the WR4 range before the season begins.

Patriots | Three key Patriots active Sunday

Sun, 24 Jan 2016 10:48:37 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Julian Edelman (foot) and Danny Amendola (knee) and TE Rob Gronkowski (knee, back) are all officially active for the AFC Championship against the Denver Broncos Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: There was really no doubt that these three would play despite their questionable tags. New England's passing game could be utilized early and often against the Broncos; Edelman ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) and Gronk ($8,000, 16.0%) have more upside, but Amendola ($6,100, 12.2%) is also worth a look if you're rostering a FantasyScore playoff team.

Patriots | Three Pats questionable

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 12:51:57 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (knee) and Julian Edelman (foot) and TE Rob Gronkowski (knee, back) were limited in practice all week and are questionable to face the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: All three players will suit up this weekend and could all have a big impact in the passing game. Amendola ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) might be overlooked by most and could thrive with Denver paying more attention to Edelman ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) and Gronkowski ($8,000, 16.0% of cap). It's hard not to like both Edelman and Gronk when they're healthy.

Patriots | Julian Edelman likes playoffs

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 09:19:31 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman has the most targets, catches and receiving yards in the playoffs since the start of the 2013 postseason.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) had 10 catches (16 targets) for 100 yards in the divisional round after having not played since Nov. 15. He's certainly healthy, and he's a great daily pick against the Denver Broncos this weekend. He's likely to draw a banged up Chris Harris Jr. in the slot, too.

Patriots | Three Patriots limited

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 14:26:41 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (knee) and Julian Edelman (foot) and TE Rob Gronkowski (knee, back) were all limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Jan. 21.

Fantasy Tip: All three players are acceptable picks on FantasyScore this weekend, with Amendola ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) being more of a sleeper of flex play. Gronk ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) has excellent history against the Denver Broncos and is worth paying up for.

Patriots | Three Patriots limited

Wed, 20 Jan 2016 14:53:00 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (knee) and Julian Edelman (foot) and TE Rob Gronkowski (knee, back) were all limited in practice Wednesday, Jan. 20.

Fantasy Tip: All three players will be fine for the AFC Championship against the Denver Broncos. Both Amendola ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) and Edelman ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) didn't face Denver in the earlier matchup this year, but both are acceptable daily plays even against a tough Broncos defense. Gronk ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) had a nice game against Denver before being hurt in Week 12, and tight ends have been a thorn in the Broncos' side.

Patriots | Julian Edelman readies for Denver

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 20:10:06 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman posted 10 grabs for 100 yards in the win over the Kansas City Chiefs last week, now he will set his sights on the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) missed the first meeting with the Broncos in Week 11 due to his foot injury. He looked fine last week, and didn't appear to have any ill-effects from the injury. He had at least four grabs and 50 yards in each of his 10 games this season, and Edelman has reached the end zone seven times. The short and intermediate stuff will be how New England moves against a stingy Denver pass defense, so look for plenty of grabs for Edelman similar to last weekend.

Patriots | No X-rays for Julian Edelman

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 18:10:22 -0800

Updating an ongoing story, New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman said he did not have X-rays taken following a 27-20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs Saturday, Jan. 16. It was previously reported that Edelman was seen headed to the X-ray room.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Edelman should be good to go for the conference title game, and on the heels of his 10-catch performance in the divisional round, he should be considered a WR1 candidate at FantasyScore.

Patriots | Julian Edelman ready to play?

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 17:51:59 -0800

Updating a previous story, New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (undisclosed) was seen heading for X-rays Saturday, Jan. 16, but he said he feels "good enough to be ready for next week."

Fantasy Tip: It still isn't clear what Edelman needed X-rays for, but he led the Patriots with 10 catches for 100 yards in the divisional round, and as long as he is able to play in the conference title game, he should be one of the top receivers available at FantasyScore.

Patriots | X-rays for Julian Edelman

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 17:18:21 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (undisclosed) was seen heading for X-rays following a 27-20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in the divisional round of the playoffs Saturday, Jan. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Stay tuned for updates on the nature and severity of his injury, but Edelman had 10 catches for 100 yards in the win and should be one of the best receivers available at FantasyScore next week if he is able to play.

Patriots | Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman active

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 12:05:37 -0800

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (knee, back) and WR Julian Edelman (foot) are both active for the divisional playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs Saturday, Jan. 16.

Fantasy Tip: It would have been hard to believe Gronkowski ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) and Edelman ($7,300, 14.6%) missing a game of this magnitude. Edelman will be wearing extra protection, but Gronk could be somewhat limited with knee and back issues. Both are worth a FantasyScore start despite their ongoing ailments.

Patriots | Julian Edelman to have added protection

Sat, 16 Jan 2016 08:58:55 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) will wear orthotics to brace his injured foot during the divisional round playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs Saturday, Jan. 16, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) should be able to play against the Chiefs and should have a big role in the passing game. He will be facing a solid Kansas City defense but should still be a decent option for owners on FantasyScore.

Patriots | Julian Edelman questionable

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 13:38:17 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 15, and is listed as questionable for the divisional round playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs Saturday, Jan. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) appears to have a good chance to play against the Chiefs, but owners will need to make sure he is active. He should see a solid amount of targets during the game and is a solid starting option for owners on FantasyScore.

Patriots | Two New England receivers limited

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 14:06:00 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (knee) and Julian Edelman (foot) were limited in practice Thursday, Jan. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) and Amendola ($6,700, 13.4%) are both expected to play versus the Kansas City Chiefs despite their limited statuses. Edelman is a good play despite a less than ideal matchup. Amendola is more of a WR3 option.

Patriots | Danny Amendola, Julian Edelman limited

Wed, 13 Jan 2016 14:59:38 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (knee) and Julian Edelman (foot) were both limited in practice Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Both Amendola ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) and Edelman ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) shouldn't be limited against the Kansas City Chiefs. With the Pats having their full receiving offense back, Amendola is more of a deep sleeper now. Edelman, on the other hand, hasn't played since Nov. 15. He's still valuable as a receiver to build your daily lineup around in the divisional round, though.

Patriots | Julian Edelman will not be limited

Mon, 11 Jan 2016 15:21:03 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) said he will not be limited during the divisional round playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs Saturday, Jan. 16. Edelman was running and cutting during practice Monday, Jan. 11, and worked with QB Tom Brady during the bye week. Edelman should help the team's third-down offense because the team converted 50% of their opportunities when Edelman was on the field and only 33% when Edelman was sidelined.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman has not played since the middle of November because of the injury but should have a role in the passing game against the Chiefs. Edelman will be a risky option for owners because of his injury, but he could be a decent starting option since he should receive a solid amount of targets if he is healthy enough to play.

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) has been cleared to play in the divisional round of the playoffs. He'll be wearing a steel plate in his left shoe to prevent flexing and re-fracturing his foot.

Fri, 01 Jan 2016 09:18:22 -0800

Fantasy Tip: Brandon LaFell ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is a midrange option against the Miami Dolphins.

Patriots | Top three WRs limited for Patriots

Thu, 31 Dec 2015 15:49:55 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (knee), Julian Edelman (foot) and Brandon LaFell (foot) were limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to monitor the situation over the next few days to see which receivers will be able to play against the Miami Dolphins. LaFell ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) was the only one of the three able to play in Week 16 and was held to one catch. Amendola ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) and Edelman ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) missed the last game and their statuses are uncertain for Week 17.

Updating a previous report, New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) was able to practice on a limited basis Wednesday, Dec. 30, but beat writer Tom E. Curran still believes Edelman is a longshot to play in Week 17 against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players will want to avoid Edelman and wait to see him officially return and make it through a full game without any setbacks before trusting him again.

Patriots | Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola limited

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 14:48:48 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Julian Edelman (foot) and Danny Amendola (knee) were both limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Both players are expected to be questionable against the Miami Dolphins with home-field advantage throughout the playoffs on the line, but Amendola ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) closer than Edelman ($7,300, 14.6% of cap). If either of them play, they'll be solid FantasyScore choices against a weak Dolphins D. If neither play, Keshawn Martin ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) qualifies as a great deep sleeper choice.

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 08:37:36 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) will not play in Week 16's game against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) was limited in practice all week and appears likely to return to action during Week 17's game versus the Miami Dolphins. Remove him from all fantasy lineups.

Patriots | Julian Edelman doubtful vs. the Jets

Fri, 25 Dec 2015 13:19:38 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) was a limited participant in practice Friday, Dec. 25, and he is listed as doubtful for the Week 16 game against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) is a huge risk in all fantasy formats this week. It would seem unlikely he plays, and while the Pats aren't the most predictable team in the league, Week 17 has been the return date discussed most recently.

Patriots | Three Pats receivers limited

Thu, 24 Dec 2015 12:46:24 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (knee), Julian Edelman (foot) and Brandon LaFell (foot) all were limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Knowing the Patriots, all three will be questionable against the New York Jets. Edelman ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) is probably the least likely to play, so he's the biggest risk. Amendola ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) and LaFell ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) are shaky daily options even if they play, though.

Patriots | Three Pats receivers limited

Wed, 23 Dec 2015 17:14:11 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (knee), Julian Edelman (foot) and Brandon LaFell (foot) were all limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 23. Edelman took part after sitting in the walkthrough Tuesday, Dec. 22, which typically means that player isn't in the game plan. Edelman has missed five games with a broken foot.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) is likely to rest up for another week, so don't plan on having him in any lineups. Amendola ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) is questionable, as well, and may be limited even if he does play. LaFell ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) had one of his better games last week and could quietly be an excellent value pick on FantasyScore if both Edelman and Amendola are out in Week 16.

Patriots | Julian Edelman could return in Week 17

Sun, 20 Dec 2015 08:04:46 -0800

The rehab process for New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) is reportedly going well enough where he could return to action in Week 17's game against the Miami Dolphins, in order to get acclimated for the playoffs.

Fantasy Tip: Danny Amendola ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) makes a viable alternative to Edelman ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) as long as he is sidelined, although his fantasy value will drop considerably once he returns.

Patriots | Julian Edelman doubtful to play

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 15:30:34 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) is doubtful to play against the Tennessee Titans in Week 15 after being limited in practice Friday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) is getting closer, though, and has a real shot to play in Week 16. Take advantage of Danny Amendola ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) on FantasyScore for at least another week. With running back troubles, James White ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) has appeal in a flex spot in PPR leagues like FantasyScore if New England throws often.

Patriots | Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola limited

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 14:12:18 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Julian Edelman (foot) and Danny Amendola (knee) were both limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 17. Edelman's status for Week 15 against the Tennessee Titans will be updated Friday, Dec. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) will likely be questionable and could be a game-time decision. It'd be tempting to use him in traditional leagues if he makes his way back, but it's safest to avoid him for one more week in daily games. Amendola's ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) stock will come down considerably if Edelman returns.

Patriots | Julian Edelman limited Wednesday

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 13:44:36 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: It was already reported that Edelman ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) looked crisp and quick in practice today, so it looks like he'll be able to play this weekend against the Tennessee Titans. He could be a little rusty, though, and is still priced pretty high on FantasyScore, so look at your options before deciding on Edelman.

Patriots | Julian Edelman looks quick in practice

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 10:13:38 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) looked "crisp and quick" in practice Wednesday, Dec. 16, according to The Boston Globe's Jim McBride.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) sounds like he has a chance to play against the Tennessee Titans this week. With his large price tag, though, he doesn't make the best FantasyScore investment. He'd be a huge addition in your traditional league playoffs, though, if you stashed him or were able to grab him off waivers.

Patriots | Julian Edelman won't return this week

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 13:29:10 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) has been ruled out for Week 14 against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman made some progress by practicing Friday, but he's got a ways to go to get back on the field for games. Continues stashing him in traditional leagues, since there is a chance he could make it back before the end of the regular season. Danny Amendola ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) remains profitable in daily games until Edelman returns.

Patriots | Julian Edelman a ways away

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 09:46:00 -0800

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot) looked gimpy while jogging Friday, Dec. 11, and is a ways away from returning.

Fantasy Tip: There's no guarantee that Edelman ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) makes it back before the end of the regular season, but you need to hang onto him just in case if you're playing for a championship. In the meantime, Danny Amendola ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) fantasy value is maxed out, and Scott Chandler ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) is a great value pick with Rob Gronkowski still beat up.
