Giants | Mike Leake pegged for Sunday

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 15:33:44 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Mike Leake will start against the Texas Rangers Sunday, Aug. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) is a low-end starting pitcher who is worth owning in the majority of leagues. Owners should be selective with his starts, though, and a road game against Texas isn't an ideal spot for Leake. FantasyScore players should consider him a risky No. 2 starting pitcher Sunday.

Giants | Tim Hudson bumped from rotation

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 08:12:31 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson will be bumped from the rotation after the Giants acquired SP Mike Leake from the Cincinnati Reds. Leake is 9-5 with a 3.56 ERA in 21 starts this year, including 4-0 with a 0.60 ERA in his last four starts. Leake could join the Giants as early as Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: Hudson can now be dropped in all formats. Leake ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) was already on the rise in fantasy circles before this trade, and his value is now boosted further with this move to a very friendly pitching environment in San Fran. He becomes a much more acceptable play on FantasyScore, too.

Reds | Mike Leake sent to SF

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 08:08:02 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake was traded to the San Francisco Giants Thursday, July 30, in exchange for 3B Adam Duvall and P Keury Mella.

Fantasy Tip: With Leake out of the Cincy rotation, another spot opens up. Is it possible the Reds will recall top pitching prospect Robert Stephenson to fill the spot? Dynasty and keeper league owners should already be all over Stephenson, and those in deep mixed leagues may want to follow suit.

Giants | Mike Leake acquired

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 22:08:09 -0700

The San Francisco Giants have acquired SP Mike Leake from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for 1B Adam Duvall and SP Keury Mella Thursday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) has been excellent in July, and he should be able to maintain the momentum and remain a solid value play at FantasyScore for at least a little while now that he is staying in the NL. However, his career numbers suggest he will cool at some point.

Reds | Mike Leake market narrowing

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 21:25:15 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake is expected to be traded to the San Francisco Giants or New York Yankees.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) has been a bargain at FantasyScore lately, and if he is traded, staying in the NL with the Giants would likely allow him to maintain his current fantasy value.

Blue Jays | Toronto looking for starting pitching

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 10:56:45 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yovani Gallardo, Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake, San Diego Padres SPs Andrew Cashner and Tyson Ross, Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers, Miami Marlins SP Dan Haren and Detroit Tigers SP David Price are all on the radar of the Toronto Blue Jays as the trade deadline approaches.

Fantasy Tip: All of these names would be significant upgrades to the Blue Jays' current staff. However, for some, a move to hitter-friendly Toronto would be a downgrade to their fantasy value.

Blue Jays | TOR scouting wide variety of pitchers

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 12:43:44 -0700

The Toronto Blue Jays are looking at several pitchers in their quest to land a starter, according to baseball sources. Pitchers mentioned include Chicago White Sox SP Jeff Samardzija, Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake, Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco, Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers, San Diego Padres SP's Andrew Cashner and Tyson Ross.

Fantasy Tip: The Blue Jays are trying long and hard to improve their starting pitching, and other pitchers like Mat Latos and Dan Haren are also on this list. The odds of the Blue Jays landing one of these starters might be quite nice, thanks to how wide the net is.

Tigers | Detroit interested in Mike Leake?

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 10:56:19 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake could draw interest from the Detroit Tigers if they determine this week that they have a realistic shot at the American League Wild Card race.

Fantasy Tip: A trade of Leake ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) to the American League Central is unlikely to change his fantasy value all that much. If you're in an AL-only league and in need of upgrades, you should definitely be looking to save your FAAB money for players that cross over in trades later this week.

Dodgers | LA interested in Yovani Gallardo, Mike Leake?

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 10:16:46 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Yovani Gallardo or Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake could be fallback options for the Los Angeles Dodgers if they lose out on Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels or Detroit Tigers SP David Price.

Fantasy Tip: There's no question that both Gallardo ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) and Leake ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) would benefit greatly from a move away from extreme hitter's parks to the pitching-friendly environment of Chavez Ravine in Los Angeles.

Giants | SF interested in Mike Leake

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 18:45:52 -0700

The San Francisco Giants have expressed interest in Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake.

Fantasy Tip: Even though San Francisco appears to have a surplus of starters, they are considering acquiring Leake ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) because several of their pitchers have age or injury concerns. Leake is 8-5 with a 3.78 ERA through 20 starts this season.
