Giants | SF interested in Mike Leake

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 18:45:52 -0700

The San Francisco Giants have expressed interest in Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake.

Fantasy Tip: Even though San Francisco appears to have a surplus of starters, they are considering acquiring Leake ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) because several of their pitchers have age or injury concerns. Leake is 8-5 with a 3.78 ERA through 20 starts this season.

The Chicago Cubs have some interest in Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake but would prefer not to make a deal for a rental player.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) has a 1.80 ERA with 16 strikeouts through 20 innings over his last three starts. The Cubs have the potential to make it a long day for Leake, though. He is worth considering as a No. 2 starting pitcher at FantasyScore Wednesday.

Blue Jays | TOR interested in Mike Leake

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 10:27:13 -0700

The Toronto Blue Jays have expressed interest in trading for Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) is 7-5 with a 3.95 ERA but has struggled against American League clubs, going 1-1 with an 8.36 ERA in three starts versus the junior circuit this season. On the other hand, he is 4-2 with a 2.57 ERA in nine outings this year away from the hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park. As long as he's pitching on the road, he makes a good midrange value in FantasyScore.

Reds | Mike Leake does it all

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 21:16:22 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake allowed one run on four hits over six innings and drove in three runs in a win over the Cleveland Indians Friday, July 17.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) followed up a great start before the All-Star break with another soldi outing, and although he can be prone to an occasional dud, he can make a useful value play at FantasyScore when he draws a friendly matchup.

Astros | Houston interested in Mike Leake?

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 09:25:15 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake is believed to be coveted by the Houston Astros as the trade deadline approaches. The Astros have an excess of outfielders and seem to be willing to deal from a position of strength, including OFs Domingo Santana and Preston Tucker.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) would be a backup plan for the Astros if they can't land Johnny Cueto or Cole Hamels. Houston isn't exactly an upgrade over hitter-friendly Great American Ballpark, but Leake's fantasy value should be helped by a trade out of Cincy, as he's sporting a 5.92 ERA at home this year.

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 09:24:24 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake has been told the team intends to trade him before the July 31 trade deadline.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) could definitely benefit from an exit from Great American Ball Park. He has a 5.92 ERA at home while possessing a 2.57 ERA on the road.

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 19:19:12 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake allowed three hits and struck out 10 over eight scoreless innings in a win over the Miami Marlins Friday, July 10.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) is now 5-1 with a 1.33 ERA in six starts against the Marlins. He is prone to the occasional rough outing, but he can make a solid value play at FantasyScore against weaker opponents.

Royals | KC interested in Mike Leake

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 06:08:59 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake has drawn trade interest from the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) would highly benefit from exiting Great American Ball Park. Opposing hitters hit just .246 off him, but he was allowed 13 home runs, which contributes to his 4.01 ERA. He has a 3.00 ERA and a .199 opponents' batting average on the road while those numbers blimp to 5.18 and .293 at home. He's a good road starter on FantasyScore at a midrange price.

Yankees | Cole Hamels willing to join Yanks

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 16:56:32 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels is willing to waive his no-trade clause in order to play for the New York Yankees. The Yankees appear to have Cincinnati Reds SPs Johnny Cueto and Mike Leake near the top of their wish list this summer, too. "The opportunity to play for a team that could ultimately get to the World Series is what every guy hopes for and what every guy works for, starting with the offseason and spring training," Hamels said. Yankees OF Aaron Judge and SP Luis Severino intrigue the Phillies, although it looks like Severino won't be dealt.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) remains an elite fantasy starting pitcher despite playing for the lowly Phillies. He'd certainly receive a boost to his value with a move out of Philly and to a contending team with a respectable offense to back him. Buying Hamels right now would be ideal if you can convince his current owner to part with him.
