Royals | KC interested in Mike Leake

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 06:08:59 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake has drawn trade interest from the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) would highly benefit from exiting Great American Ball Park. Opposing hitters hit just .246 off him, but he was allowed 13 home runs, which contributes to his 4.01 ERA. He has a 3.00 ERA and a .199 opponents' batting average on the road while those numbers blimp to 5.18 and .293 at home. He's a good road starter on FantasyScore at a midrange price.

Yankees | Cole Hamels willing to join Yanks

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 16:56:32 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels is willing to waive his no-trade clause in order to play for the New York Yankees. The Yankees appear to have Cincinnati Reds SPs Johnny Cueto and Mike Leake near the top of their wish list this summer, too. "The opportunity to play for a team that could ultimately get to the World Series is what every guy hopes for and what every guy works for, starting with the offseason and spring training," Hamels said. Yankees OF Aaron Judge and SP Luis Severino intrigue the Phillies, although it looks like Severino won't be dealt.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($9,000, 18.0% of cap) remains an elite fantasy starting pitcher despite playing for the lowly Phillies. He'd certainly receive a boost to his value with a move out of Philly and to a contending team with a respectable offense to back him. Buying Hamels right now would be ideal if you can convince his current owner to part with him.

Royals | KC looking at trade options

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 16:36:02 -0700

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist and Cincinnati Reds SPs Johnny Cueto and Mike Leake are on the radar of the Kansas City Chiefs as the trade deadline nears this summer, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: None of these three players would likely see a drastic boost in their fantasy value with a move to KC, although Cueto and Leake would definitely be a bit more attractive throwing pitches in a pitching-friendly environment instead of Great American Ballpark. AL-only owners definitely should take notice of potential NL targets crossing leagues this summer. Save your FAAB money.

Yankees | Yanks interested in Mike Leake?

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 17:59:18 -0700

The New York Yankees have been rumored to be interested in Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake, although they are unwilling to part with one of their top prospects, such as P Luis Severino or OF Aaron Judge.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) will be a free agent after the season, which explains why the Yankees are hesitant to part with a big-name prospect in exchange for him. Entering play Friday, June 19, he was 3-4 with a 4.35 ERA in 13 starts.

Reds | CIN adjusts rotation

Thu, 18 Jun 2015 17:38:26 -0700

The Cincinnati Reds have adjusted their starting rotation following the rainout Thursday, June 18, against the Detroit Tigers. SP Mike Leake will pitch Friday, against the Miami Marlins, SP Anthony DeSclafani will go Saturday, against the Marlins and SP Michael Lorenzen will pitch the series finale Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: All three Reds' starters carry sizable risk on FantasyScore, with that risk being elevated at the hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati. With the Marlins in town, however, any of the three could be considered in GPP tournaments.

Reds | Mike Leake strong against Bucs

Tue, 05 May 2015 21:50:44 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake is scheduled to face the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday, May 6. He is 4-0 with a 2.95 ERA over his past nine outings against the Pirates.

Fantasy Tip: Normally Leake ($4,700; 9.4% of cap) would be a good play in FantasyScore, but he is up against Gerrit Cole ($8,700; 17.4% of cap) who won the National League Pitcher of the Month for April.

Reds | Michael Lorenzen to start Wednesday

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 14:27:32 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Michael Lorenzen will be called up to make his major league debut against the Milwaukee Brewers Wednesday, April 29, pushing SP Mike Leake back to Thursday, April 30.

Fantasy Tip: Lorenzen will be a cheap commodity at FantasyScore in his major league debut, and against the struggling Brew Crew, he could be a fantastic profit play to outsmart your competition. It's unclear if this is just a spot start or if he'll remain in the rotation. Lorenzen was 2-1 with a 2.84 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 19 innings for Triple-A Louisville this year.

Reds | Mike Leake likes facing Cubs

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 15:28:03 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake is 4-0 with a 2.45 ERA in his last six starts against the Chicago Cubs, who he faces Friday, April 24.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is 0-1 with a 3.92 ERA and 1.11 WHIP while fanning 13 in 20 2/3 innings in 2015. The Cubs lineup has more upside and pop than in recent years, though, and Leake is more of a low-end starting pitching option at FantasyScore tomorrow night.

Reds | Mike Leake likes to face Bucs

Mon, 06 Apr 2015 22:19:32 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake will face the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday, April 8. He is 4-0 with a 2.75 ERA in his past eight starts against the Pirates, and he hasn't lost to the Bucs since May 5, 2012.

Fantasy Tip: Leake is a tremendous bargain for FantasyScore owners at just $3,900 (or 7.8% of cap) for Wednesday's slate of MLB games. Take advantage.

Reds | Cincy announces rotation

Wed, 18 Mar 2015 11:22:38 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SPs Johnny Cueto, Mike Leake, Anthony DeSclafani, Jason Marquis and Raisel Iglesias will comprise the team's starting rotation to enter the regular season. SP Paul Maholm is competing for a bullpen spot.

Fantasy Tip: Cueto is really the only pitcher in this five that deserves heavy fantasy baseball attention as an ace for your fake staff. The others are all likely just NL-only targets, with DeSclafani and Iglesias possessing intriguing upside.
