|Blue Jays | Drew Storen the closer in Toronto?|
Mon, 01 Feb 2016 14:17:09 -0800
Toronto Blue Jays RP Drew Storen looks to be the likely closer for the Blue Jays in 2016 over RP Roberto Osuna, although Toronto could have a competition for the role deep into spring training. There is no rush to make a decision. Storen has more experience as a closer and will be paid $8.375 million. Osuna is a former starter, too, and it could be attractive to have the option of using him for multiple innings as a setup man. RP Aaron Sanchez is a dark horse candidate, but it looks like he'll have the chance to win a starting job this spring.
Fantasy Tip: You'll have to keep a close eye on the competition this spring, but if you're drafting before then, speculate on Storen once the top closers come off the board. Whoever loses the job will lose significant fantasy value as a reliever.

|Blue Jays | Drew Storen lands north of $8 million|
Fri, 15 Jan 2016 09:52:38 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Storen was a capable closer before the Nats relegated him to setup duty with the arrival of Jonathan Papelbon. He could close in Toronto and would be a decent RP2.

|Blue Jays | TOR closer situation remains uncertain|
Sun, 10 Jan 2016 09:17:00 -0800
Fantasy Tip: It looks like we'll have to wait until spring training camp to see how this battle is resolved. Osuna saved 20 games in 68 relief appearances while posting a 2.58 ERA during his rookie season, with 75 strikeouts over 69 2/3 innings. Storen earned 29 saves in 58 games for Washington last season, with a 3.44 ERA and 67 strikeouts over 55 innings before being demoted to a setup role after the Nats acquired Jonathan Papelbon. For now, keep both relievers on your radar in AL-only and deep mixed fantasy leagues.

|Nationals | Ben Revere joins Washington|
Sat, 09 Jan 2016 05:08:00 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Revere may have a chance to be the starting center fielder for the Nationals if they are not sold on Michael Taylor being an everyday player. Revere will help owners with his batting average and stolen bases this upcoming season and could be a late-round option in drafts.

|Blue Jays | Toronto adds Drew Storen|
Sat, 09 Jan 2016 05:05:57 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Storen probably will receive a chance to win the closer job for the Blue Jays during spring training, so owners should monitor the situation. He likely would receive plenty of save opportunities if he wins the job and could be a solid middle-round option in most mixed leagues.

|Nationals | Cubs interested in Drew Storen|
Tue, 15 Dec 2015 13:22:06 -0800
Washington Nationals RP Drew Storen is drawing interest from the Chicago Cubs, who are seeking to fortify the back-end of their bullpen. The Houston Astros also discussed possibly adding Storen before trading for RP Ken Giles from the Philadelphia Phillies.
Fantasy Tip: It's not much of a surprise to see Storen attracting potential suitors for his services, as he's still just 28 years old and was doing an excellent job as Washington's closer last year with 29 saves before being replaced by trade deadline acquisition Jonathan Papelbon. If Storen is able to resume closing again somewhere else, he should be a desired fantasy target for his overall body of work.

|Nationals | Nats looking at Mark Melancon|
Wed, 09 Dec 2015 15:29:29 -0800
The Washington Nationals have talked to the Pittsburgh Pirates about RP Mark Melancon, but the talks are not serious, according to a source. The Nationals would have to make another trade of either RPs Jonathan Papelbon or Drew Storen before talks for Melancon could get serious.
Fantasy Tip: Melancon had a career year in 2016 and it will be hard for him to match that in 2016. That doesn't mean he won't be worth grabbing as one of the more coveted closer's in fantasy drafts, but beware of some regression in terms of ERA and WHIP.

|Nationals | No bullpen changes expected for Nationals|
Mon, 07 Dec 2015 14:43:20 -0800
Washington Nationals RPs Jonathan Papelbon and Drew Storen are in the plans for the 2016 season, according to general manager Mike Rizzo. While Rizzo noted a deal is possible if it made baseball sense, "we're not looking to dump anybody."
Fantasy Tip: Papelbon struggled in the closer role after joining the Nationals with just seven saves, a 3.04 ERA and a 6.1 K/9. However, it is likely he starts the season in the role. Storen, similarly, pitched great until Papelbon arrived, as Storen recorded 29 saves with a 1.73 ERA before losing his closing job. Whoever leaves spring training as the closer checks out as a mid-tier option at the position.

|Astros | Houston looking at Mark Melancon|
Mon, 07 Dec 2015 10:27:52 -0800
The Houston Astros continue to search for closer on the trade market, and they are highly interested in Pittsburgh Pirates RP Mark Melancon. Washington Nationals RP Drew Storen could be a fallback option.
Fantasy Tip: Regardless of where Melancon is closing in 2016, his fantasy price will be elevated thanks to his 51-save season in 2015 in which he had an ERA of 2.23 in 76 2/3 innings. That was likely Melancon's peak, so be careful not to overspend for him in a season in which it'll be hard to reproduce those numbers. However, if he's closing in either Pittsburgh or Houston, he should be able to give you a healthy number of saves.

|Nationals | Jonathan Papelbon, Drew Storen available?|
Tue, 10 Nov 2015 09:59:58 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Papelbon served as the closer for the Nats after being acquired, which killed Storen's fantasy value. Storen only has appeal in a ninth-inning role, so he could be back on the fantasy radar if Papelbon is dealt again.
