Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2B Grant Green may need to earn a spot as a utility player this spring in order to have a place on the active roster. Green believes he can play second base, third base, shortstop and the outfield corner spots, if needed.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia said 2B Howie Kendrick (knee) will go on the disabled list, likely Saturday, Aug. 10.
Fantasy Tip: This is a considerable loss for your second base position, as Kendrick was hitting .301 with 11 homers and six stolen bases. Prospect Grant Green figures to take most of the playing time now at the keystone. Green should be owned in all AL-only universes and in the deepest of mixed leagues.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim recalled 2B Grant Green from the minors Tuesday, Aug. 6, and optioned RP Daniel Stange to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: Green will be insurance at the keystone in case Howie Kendrick (knee) needs to go on the disabled list. Green is worth adding in AL-only leagues for now.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim recalled 3B Chris Nelson from the minors Wednesday, July 31.
Fantasy Tip: Nelson is expected to be the team's new starting third baseman after they shipped Alberto Callaspo to the Oakland Athletics last night. Grant Green could eventually become another option at the hot corner, but for now, it's Nelson's job to lose. He's only worth adding in AL-only leagues.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim acquired 2B Grant Green from the Oakland Athletics Tuesday, July 30, in exchange for 3B Alberto Callaspo. Green will report to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Fantasy Tip: The Angels moved a big salary, and Callaspo is under contract for next season, too. Tommy Field replaced Callaspo at third base Tuesday, and Green could potentially be used there at some point, too. The team might be inclined to promote 3B Chris Nelson from Salt Lake. He is hitting .323 with six homers and 24 RBI in 33 games for the Bees.

Oakland Athletics 2B Eric Sogard will serve as the backup to SS Jed Lowrie at shortstop after SS Adam Rosales was designated for assignment. 2B Grant Green could also receive some playing time at shortstop.

The Oakland Athletics will promote 2B Grant Green from Class AAA Sacramento to start Monday, July 8. He's likely to platoon with Eric Sogard as the minority end against left-handed arms. A corresponding move for Green's call-up will be announced tomorrow.
Fantasy Tip: Green had a .318-11-49 line in 352 at-bats in Triple-A play this year. He's been playing the keystone all season after trying to stick as a shortstop and outfielder. An easy transition to the bigs would solve a major problem for this offense. Green could earn the right to everyday at-bats and aid deep-mixed owners in search of middle-infield help.

Two scouts said the Oakland Athletics are willing to trade 2B Jemile Weeks, who has spent the entire season with Triple-A Sacramento, but their asking price is high. Weeks has seen a lot of action as the designated hitter, with 2B Grant Green receiving the bulk of the playing time for Sacramento at second base.

Oakland Athletics 2B Eric Sogard will see the bulk of playing time at second base with 2B Scott Sizemore (knee) out for the year. INF Andy Parrino was called up over 2B Jemile Weeks because of his versatility. SS Hiroyuki Nakajima could work out at second base with Triple-A Sacramento now, too, and it might be a better fit for him at the big league level than shortstop, Susan Slusser speculates. Weeks and 2B Grant Green could also be used at the keystone at some point this year.
Fantasy Tip: Right now, Sogard is the only player worth owning at this spot, but only in AL-only formats. Weeks may be the best speculative add in those same leagues if he can prove to the club that he deserves another shot. This very well could be a revolving door, though, so don't invest a ton.
