Tue, 25 Aug 2015 18:11:25 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Randal Grichuk (elbow) has yet to resume any baseball activities, although he is back in St. Louis with the big club.

Fantasy Tip: Grichuk ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) does not appear to be close to a return, so FantasyScore players need not bother with him until at least September.

Cardinals | Randal Grichuk out until September

Tue, 18 Aug 2015 09:10:55 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Randal Grichuk (elbow) won't return from the disabled list until at least September 1 and probably later. He's dealing with a low-grade muscle strain and a low-grade sprained ligament in his elbow, but general manager John Mozeliak said the team's biggest concern is the muscle strain. Grichuk said his injury only bothered him when throwing.

Fantasy Tip: Grichuk needs to be held onto in all leagues. With him out, Brandon Moss ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) will play left field regularly, allowing Mark Reynolds ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) to start regularly at first base again. Both players have similar power but struggle to make contact and strike out often. They can be useful in deeper leagues for those in need of home runs, but don't count on them for much else.

Cardinals | Randal Grichuk unsure of timetable

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 13:33:40 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Randal Grichuk (elbow) said he is dealing with a low-grade muscle and ligament strain in his elbow. He will be shut down for a while, and he isn't sure how much time he will miss.

Fantasy Tip: From the sounds of it, Grichuk ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) will not be back when his 15-day DL stint is up. Keep tabs on his progress, though, and check back for an updated timetable. Peter Bourjos ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) should fill in in a starting outfield role in the meantime. He's worth a pickup in deeper leagues if you need some stolen bases.

Cardinals | Randal Grichuk lands on DL

Mon, 17 Aug 2015 13:09:47 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Randal Grichuk (elbow) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow strain Monday, Aug. 17, and the team recalled OF Tommy Pham from Class AAA Memphis in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Grichuk deserves to be held in all fantasy formats while he's on the DL. Peter Bourjos ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) figures to see more everyday playing time with Grichuk out, and Pham could serve as the fourth outfielder. Bourjos has speed but has struggled to reach base in a reserve role this season. Consider him a sleeper option on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Randal Grichuk playing with foot injury

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 12:59:58 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Randal Grichuk (foot) has been playing through a left foot injury for several weeks and receiving daily treatments to reduce some of the muscle discomfort.

Fantasy Tip: The sore foot hasn't been an issue for Grichuk's ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) bat, as he has a .319/.369/.611 slash line with 19 runs, seven home runs and 22 RBI over his past 30 games. At his current FantasyScore salary, there is a lot of value in Grichuk's fantasy stock, and he has emerged as a solid No. 2 outfielder in all seasonal leagues.

Cardinals | St. Louis reworks top of the lineup

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 13:36:09 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 3B Matt Carpenter is leading off with OF Randal Grichuk batting second and 2B Kolten Wong hitting third against Colorado Rockies SP Chris Rusin Thursday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: There isn't a lot of value shifting with the swap between Carpenter ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) and Wong ($5,300, 10.6% of cap), but Grichuk ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) had been hitting lower in the lineup of late. Grichuk stands to receieve a huge fantasy boost if he can lock into a spot closer to the top of the St. Louis lineup. All three are worth consideration for FantasyScore usage, but Rusin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is a lefty with a respectable 3.38 ERA over his past seven games, including five outings at Coors Field.
