Rays | Oswaldo Arcia scratched

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 08:45:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Oswaldo Arcia (illness) was scratched Wednesday, June 29, due to illness. SS Nick Franklin is now hitting sixth and playing right field.

Fantasy Tip: Franklin is 2-for-3 (.667) with three RBI against lefties this season, which isn't enough of a sample size to warrant a play against David Price today.

Rays | Corey Dickerson out Tuesday

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 12:26:45 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Corey Dickerson (thumb) will miss another game Tuesday, June 28, due to a sore left thumb. 2B Nick Franklin will take Dickerson's designated hitter spot and bat eighth against Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello.

Fantasy Tip: Dickerson shouldn't need the DL, but fantasy owners will miss his power production. Although he has a .209 batting average, Dickerson does have 13 home runs this season. Bench him for the time being until this is resolved. Franklin went 3-for-5 in the Monday, June 27, game and might be worth a DFS start.

Rays | Nick Franklin drives in five runs

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 21:08:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Nick Franklin went 3-for-5 with a double, two-run home run, two runs scored and three RBIs Monday, June 27, against the Boston Red Sox. He finished with a career-high five RBIs.

Fantasy Tip: Franklin likely bought himself another start with the big stat line. Right now he is only worth using in deeper AL-only fantasy leagues and in DFS play as a salary saver.

Rays | Corey Dickerson out of the lineup

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 13:02:51 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Corey Dickerson is not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Eduardo Rodriguez Monday, June 27. 2B Nick Franklin will serve as the designated hitter and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Franklin has gone hitless since being recalled earlier this month and is not a strong starting candidate for owners.

Rays | Logan Forsythe will be DH

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 13:43:14 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe will serve as the designated hitter against Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer Wednesday, June 22. OF Corey Dickerson will start in left field, while OF Taylor Motter will start in right field. 2B Nick Franklin will start at second base and is batting eighth. OF Jaff Decker is not in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe is hitting .260 with one home run and three RBI since returning from his injury. He should be a decent starting option for most owners. Dickerson should be an attractive player for owners looking for power, while Motter can be avoided in most leagues. Franklin has had only one at-bat since being recalled and is not a strong option at this point.

Rays | Logan Forsythe activated from DL

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 12:38:01 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) was activated from the disabled list Friday, June 10. In a corresponding move, 2B Nick Franklin was optioned to Class AAA Durham.

Fantasy Tip: Dating back to the beginning of last season, Forsythe owns a .286/.366/.457 slash line with 85 runs, 21 home runs, 80 RBI and 12 stolen bases. He is a viable starter at the keystone in the majority of seasonal leagues. Franklin can be replaced in all fantasy formats.

Rays | Brandon Guyer placed on DL

Sun, 05 Jun 2016 09:33:41 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Brandon Guyer (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday, June 5, because of a left hamstring strain. The team also recalled SS Nick Franklin from Triple-A Durham.

Fantasy Tip: Mikie Mahtook and Taylor Motter are options to start in left field while Guyer is sidelined. Both players are hitting under .140 over the last seven days and should only be used in AL-only leagues at this point. Franklin probably will have a utility role during his time with the team and could be a short-term option for owners in AL-only leagues.

Rays | Brad Miller not guaranteed everyday SS job

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 14:22:25 -0800

Tampa Bay Rays SS Brad Miller is not guaranteed the everyday shortstop job, according to sources in the know, as SS Tim Beckham and SS Nick Franklin could be in the mix.

Fantasy Tip: Whoever gets the upper hand here won't have a lot of traction on draft boards because the other two could still see a lot of playing time. Miller's downfall is a .756 on base plus slugging mark against righties and a .574 mark against left-handers.

Rays | Logan Forsythe a late scratch

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 15:00:52 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (foot) was a late scratch Friday, Oct. 2, and 2B Nick Franklin draws into the lineup at second base and is batting eighth against Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is still aiming to play again this season, but time is running out, and the setback Friday is concerning. Franklin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) owns a .167/.223/.323 slash line this season, and he is not worth your attention at FantasyScore Friday.

Rays | Logan Forsythe sitting against Miami

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 12:09:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (foot) is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Oct. 1. 2B Nick Franklin is starting at the keystone and batting ninth against Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: It isn't out of the question to replace Forsythe ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) in seasonal leagues, as his injury status is up in the air at this point. Those more patient can hold, but you'll want to check back for updates. Franklin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation flier at FantasyScore Thursday, and he is likely best avoided.
