Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper, who has struggled at the plate since coming back from thumb surgery, will not be demoted to the minors, according to manager Matt Williams.
Fantasy Tip: You have to wonder if Harper's thumb is responsible for his poor performance since his return from the DL. It's entirely plausible. The Nats won't send Harper down, but if his struggles continue, perhaps they give him more days off. For now, if you have the luxury, consider benching him until we see some life from his stick.

Washington Nationals manager Matt Williams wants OF Bryce Harper to bunt less frequently for base hits and would rather see him swing away. "It depends on a lot of things, health, how his thumb is feeling," Williams said. "It depends on what the situation dictates for that particular game. More often than not, I would like to see him swing the bat. Because he just has the opportunity to do something special. If he feels like the guy's playing him back far enough that he can do that and get on base, given the right situation, okay. But then again, there's times where I want him to swing, too." Williams added that he had already discussed this with Harper.

Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper, who is 4-for-28 with one extra-base hit, four walks and 11 strikeouts since returning from the disabled list, said he knew it would take time to get his timing back. Manager Matt Williams has noticed Harper being jumpy at the plate. "He's close," Williams said. "He popped that ball up (Wednesday) night. He was right on that one. He's right on the other pitches, too. His second at-bat last night was a first-pitch changeup. His path was good. His timing was good. It was just a changeup. It's coming. I know he doesn't want to hear that but he really is coming."
Fantasy Tip: Harper should remain in your starting lineups, as he could start to break out at any moment.

Washinton Nationals OF Bryce Harper, 3B Ryan Zimmerman and C Wilson Ramos have combined for just three home runs in 306 plate appearances since their respective returns from the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: Ramos and Harper should begin to see a few more balls clearing fences, as they get a few more at-bats and gain confidence and comfort at the plate. Zimmerman's shoulder injury has zapped his power in the past, so fantasy owners should begin to be a little concerned about him going forward.
