Rays | Logan Forsythe drives in three runs

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 21:10:39 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe went 3-for-5 with a double, two-run home run, two runs scored and three RBIs Monday, June 27, against the Boston Red Sox to push his average to .297.

Fantasy Tip: After a rough patch Forsythe has gotten untracked, going 6-for-13 with two doubles, a home run, three runs scored and three RBIs over the past three games. He has emerged as a must-start in all AL-only fantasy leagues and some mixed formats, and he has been a valuable contributor for DFS owners.

Rays | Logan Forsythe will be DH

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 13:43:14 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe will serve as the designated hitter against Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer Wednesday, June 22. OF Corey Dickerson will start in left field, while OF Taylor Motter will start in right field. 2B Nick Franklin will start at second base and is batting eighth. OF Jaff Decker is not in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe is hitting .260 with one home run and three RBI since returning from his injury. He should be a decent starting option for most owners. Dickerson should be an attractive player for owners looking for power, while Motter can be avoided in most leagues. Franklin has had only one at-bat since being recalled and is not a strong option at this point.

Rays | Logan Forsythe collects three hits

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 21:52:24 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe went 3-for-6 with a double, a triple and a run scored against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, June 15.

Fantasy Tip: This was Forsythe's third multi-hit performance since being activated from the DL five games ago. His .305-4-14 line isn't stellar, but between that and what he showed last year he holds reserve value even in standard mixed leagues.

Rays | Logan Forsythe, Steve Pearce back in

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 13:43:09 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) and 1B Steve Pearce (elbow) are both back in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers Friday, June 10. Forsythe is starting at second base and is hitting leadoff, while Pearce is at first base and is batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe has found a home in Tampa and in the leadoff spot for the Rays, and he was hitting a cool .308 with four home runs, 12 RBI and three steals before his injury. Safely return him to starting lineups in all formats. Pearce has dealt with an elbow issue recently but is slashing to the tune of .321/.403/.537 with eight homers and 21 RBI. He's unlikely to hit that well going forward, but he's a decent value selection in daily leagues and can help with power in deep mixed and AL-only leagues.

Rays | Logan Forsythe activated from DL

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 12:38:01 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) was activated from the disabled list Friday, June 10. In a corresponding move, 2B Nick Franklin was optioned to Class AAA Durham.

Fantasy Tip: Dating back to the beginning of last season, Forsythe owns a .286/.366/.457 slash line with 85 runs, 21 home runs, 80 RBI and 12 stolen bases. He is a viable starter at the keystone in the majority of seasonal leagues. Franklin can be replaced in all fantasy formats.

Rays | Logan Forsythe could return next week

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 18:14:10 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) will begin a two or three-game rehab assignment with Class AAA Durham later this week. If all goes well, he could be activated from the disabled list early next week.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe was batting .308 with four home runs and 12 RBI through 29 games before being sidelined with a fractured left shoulder in early May. He should remain stashed in all fantasy formats and owners should not hesitate to reinsert him into their lineups once he is activated.

Rays | Logan Forsythe making progress

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 14:13:11 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) will progress to batting practice and a full on-field workout Monday, June 6, and Tuesday, June 7, at Tropicana Field. It is possible he could start a rehab assignment by the end of the week.

Fantasy Tip: Good news for Forsythe and his owners, as the 29-year-old has been out for about a month now with a left shoulder fracture. Coming off an outstanding breakout season last year, the former San Diego Padre was out to a fine start in 2016 before enduring the injury with a .308/.398/.523 line in 29 ballgames. He can safely be deployed immediately upon his return.

Rays | Logan Forsythe progressing

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 17:15:57 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) advanced from taking swings off a tee to tossed balls Thursday, June 2. He is aiming to return in the middle of June from his left shoulder fracture.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe has been on the disabled list for almost a month now, but at least it looks like he's getting closer to returning. He had seemingly picked up where he left off from his breakout campaign a year ago, as he had posted a solid .308/.398/.523 line with four homers in his first 29 ballgames. He has the chance to end up as one of the higher-ranked second basemen in fantasy.

Rays | Logan Forsythe takes swings

Tue, 31 May 2016 16:45:02 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) took swings off a tee again Tuesday, May 31, and also took groundballs and turned double plays. Forsythe is hoping to return in mid-June.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe should immediately return to starting second base duties and the leadoff role when he's ready. He's been a mainstay in Tampa's lineup and was hitting .308 with four home runs and 12 RBI before his injury. He also runs a bit and contributes nicely across all categories. Keep him stashed everywhere.

Rays | Logan Forsythe targeting next week

Thu, 26 May 2016 10:02:13 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) is feeling better and is targeting the next homestand (June 10 through the 19) to return from the disabled list. He took ground balls Wednesday, May 25, his first baseball activities since being injured May 9.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe has really come into his own with the Rays at the leadoff spot, and he was sporting a .308/.398/.523 slash line with four home runs and 12 RBI before his injury. He should be stashed everywhere. Steve Pearce will lose some fantasy luster with Forsythe returning, as he has been filling in at the keystone. The power bat could move to first base and platoon with Logan Morrison.
