Rays | Logan Forsythe not in the lineup

Sun, 19 Apr 2015 09:09:55 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe is not in the starting lineup Sunday, April 19.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is receiving a day off after playing in each of the last five games. Tim Beckham ($1,800, $3.6% of cap) will be the starting second baseman Sunday and could be a cheaper option on FantasyScore.

Rays | Evan Longoria the DH Friday

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 13:36:42 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 3B Evan Longoria (hip) is serving as the designated hitter and batting fourth in the lineup against New York Yankees SP Adam Warren Friday, April 17. 2B Logan Forsythe is starting at third base and batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Longoria ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) was hit by a pitch and had to leave the game early Thursday. He hopes to return to third base Saturday. He should be a fine third base option for FantasyScore owners while going up against Warren and the Yanks.

Rays | Logan Forsythe fills in admirably

Tue, 07 Apr 2015 22:37:59 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe made the start at first base Tuesday, April 7, against the Baltimore Orioles with 1B James Loney (side) injured. Forsythe responded with a two-run home run and walk.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe is a solid FantasyScore play at just $2,700 (or 5.4% of cap) if he continues to see starts. It won’t take much to live up to salary expectations, and his inclusion in the lineup will free up salary to purchase more studs up top.

Rays | James Loney scratched

Tue, 07 Apr 2015 14:46:22 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 1B James Loney (side) was scratched from the lineup Tuesday, April 7, because he "tweaked his right side." The move was strictly precautionary. OF Brandon Guyer will serve as the designated hitter, 2B Logan Forsythe is being moved to first base, and OF Kevin Kiermaier will be inserted in center field.

Fantasy Tip: Loney ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) likely wasn't a daily fantasy baseball lineup staple to begin with against left-hander Wei-Yin Chen Tuesday night. Kiermaier, Guyer and Forsythe aren't particularly intriguing, either, at FantasyScore.

Rays | Nick Franklin out to start season

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 12:05:30 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Nick Franklin (oblique) is expected to start the season on the disabled list, and 2B Logan Forsythe will receive the majority of playing time at the keystone, according to manager Kevin Cash.

Fantasy Tip: Continue to check back for updates on Franklin's return timeline. In favorable matchups, Forsythe ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) could be a low-priced flier for FantasyScore players. Although, cap relief would likely be his best asset. When healthy, Franklin has power potential, but he is a .213 hitter through his first 502 at-bats. He is best left to the waiver wire in the majority of fantasy formats.

Rays | Activate Yunel Escobar, place Jake McGee on leave

Fri, 11 Jul 2014 12:27:07 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Yunel Escobar (shoulder) was activated from the disabled list Friday, July 11. In a corresponding move, RP Jake McGee was placed on paternity leave.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar's return to everyday shortstop duty pushes Logan Forsythe back to a bench role.

Rays | Yunel Escobar to return Friday

Wed, 09 Jul 2014 14:21:30 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays SS Yunel Escobar (shoulder) played five innings in a rehab game Wednesday, July 9, and he is expected to return from the disabled list Friday, July 11, according to manager Joe Maddon.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar's return will push Ben Zobrist back to second base and Logan Forsythe to a bench role.

Rays | Ben Zobrist to DL

Thu, 15 May 2014 15:15:13 -0700

The Tampa Bay Rays placed 2B Ben Zobrist (thumb) on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, May 15, and recalled INF Cole Figueroa from the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist dislocated his thumb sliding headfirst into second base yesterday and will need several weeks to heal. Sean Rodriguez is the likely candidate to take over most of the playing time at the keystone in Zobrist's absence, with Logan Forsythe mixing in occasionally. Figueroa will serve as middle infield insurance. Grab Rodriguez in AL-only or cavernous mixed leagues if you need MI help.
