Rays | Logan Forsythe signs two-year pact

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 10:22:33 -0800

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe avoided arbitration by signing a two-year, $10.25 million deal with an option for 2018 Friday, Jan. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe broke out with a .281-17-68 season last year, and he's a sneaky option in the upper-middle of a thin position.

Rays | TB close to signing Logan Forsythe

Thu, 14 Jan 2016 17:33:18 -0800

The Tampa Bay Rays are reportedly close to signing 2B Logan Forsythe to a two-year deal which would buy out his remaining arbitration-eligible seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe hit .281 with 17 home runs and 65 RBIs in 153 games last season while establishing career highs in most major offensive categories and earning team MVP honors. He is one of the better fantasy options available at the keystone position and should be selected in the early rounds of AL-only fantasy drafts and the middle rounds of drafts for mixed leagues.

Rays | Logan Forsythe not in lineup Sunday

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 11:21:21 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (foot) remains out of the starting lineup Sunday, Oct. 4. INF Tim Beckham will bat seventh and play second base against Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle.

Fantasy Tip: Although Beckham ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is 4-for-11 against Buehrle in his career, the lefty is only expected to pitch two innings this afternoon, so that he can reach the 200-inning mark for the 15th consecutive year. Beckham is just 2-for-17 over the past seven days and is not a recommended option in FantasyScore today.

Rays | Logan Forsythe a late scratch

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 15:00:52 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (foot) was a late scratch Friday, Oct. 2, and 2B Nick Franklin draws into the lineup at second base and is batting eighth against Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is still aiming to play again this season, but time is running out, and the setback Friday is concerning. Franklin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) owns a .167/.223/.323 slash line this season, and he is not worth your attention at FantasyScore Friday.

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (foot) is starting at second base and batting fourth against Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle Friday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: With Forsythe ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) manning the keystone defensively, there isn't as much concern about his injury. He has owned southpaws all season with a .599 slugging percentage, and Forsythe checks out as a high-end value play at FantasyScore Friday.

Rays | Logan Forsythe sitting against Miami

Thu, 01 Oct 2015 12:09:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (foot) is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Oct. 1. 2B Nick Franklin is starting at the keystone and batting ninth against Miami Marlins SP Jose Fernandez Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: It isn't out of the question to replace Forsythe ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) in seasonal leagues, as his injury status is up in the air at this point. Those more patient can hold, but you'll want to check back for updates. Franklin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation flier at FantasyScore Thursday, and he is likely best avoided.

Rays | No Logan Forsythe against Boston

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 14:48:12 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Sept. 23. 2B Nick Franklin is starting at second base and batting ninth against Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has been one of the biggest surprises in fantasy baseball this season with 68 runs, 17 home runs, 65 RBI and a .284/.362/.450 slash line. His .981 OPS against southpaws is especially appealing for FantasyScore players in the right matchups. Franklin ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) owns a .153/.209/.294 line this season, and he cannot be started with confidence in any fantasy format.
