Rays | Logan Forsythe placed on disabled list

Sat, 14 May 2016 12:36:07 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a hairline fracture in his left shoulder blade. He is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks. In a corresponding move, RP Danny Farquhar has been recalled from Class AAA Durham.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe was injured after being hit in the upper part of his back by a pitch from Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez Monday, May 9. He was batting .308 with four home runs and 12 RBI through 29 games and should be stashed in all fantasy formats. Tim Beckham will continue to see most of the action at the keystone position in his absence but he should be viewed as little more than middle infield depth in AL-only leagues.

Rays | Still no Logan Forsythe

Fri, 13 May 2016 14:33:12 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) remains out of the starting lineup Friday, May 13. SS Tim Beckham is starting at the keystone and is hitting seventh against Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill.

Fantasy Tip: Beckham is extremely limited offensively and has only five hits in 34 at-bats (.147) off the bench for the Rays in 2016. He's an extreme desperation play in daily formats at shortstop. Forsythe could be back any day now and deserves to be put back in all traditional starting lineups when he's ready.

Rays | Logan Forsythe out Wednesday

Wed, 11 May 2016 09:58:19 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) is out of the lineup Wednesday, May 11, with OF Brandon Guyer hitting leadoff again. 1B Logan Morrison draws a start, and he's hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Guyer is hitting .321, but he has two homers, three doubles, four RBI, nine runs and no steals. That doesn't give him much upside in DFS against Taijuan Walker. The average is cool, but singles don't do it in daily games. LoMo is hitting .120 with no RBI in 75 at-bats. Pass on him.

Rays | Logan Forsythe eyeing Friday

Tue, 10 May 2016 17:05:35 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) is feeling better and is available Tuesday, May 10, but he's looking to return to the lineup Friday, May 13.

Fantasy Tip: Tim Beckham is likely to fill in at second base until Forsythe returns, but he's a light-hitting middle infielder with very little fantasy intrigue. Forsythe has carried over his breakout year from 2015 into this season, and the leadoff spot has meshed nicely with him. Make sure to return him to your starting lineups as soon as he's back in Tampa's lineup.

Rays | Logan Forsythe out Tuesday

Tue, 10 May 2016 15:15:58 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 10. SS Tim Beckham will take his place at second base and bat seventh opposite Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe was injured on Monday night after getting drilled by a Felix Hernandez pitch, so it's understandable to see him out of the lineup here. Fortunately, it doesn't look like it will require a stint on the disabled list. Beckham should rack up starts for as long as he's out, but he's certainly no one to add, having very minimal upside, if any.

Rays | Logan Forsythe day to day

Mon, 09 May 2016 23:08:42 -0700

Updating earlier reports, Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) had X-rays, which were negative, and he's day to day with a bruised shoulder.

Fantasy Tip: Tim Beckham could see a start if Forsythe is forced to miss time. The former top prospect has yet to get it going though, and he's not much of a DFS flyer at this time.

Rays | Logan Forsythe sent for X-rays

Mon, 09 May 2016 21:16:56 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (shoulder) left the game Monday, May 9, against the Seattle Mariners due to a bruised left shoulder. He will have X-rays as a precaution.

Fantasy Tip: If Forsythe is forced to miss any time, Tim Beckham might see more at-bats for Tampa Bay. The Rays offense can ill-afford to lose Forsythe, as he has been the table setter while posting a strong batting average and decent power numbers.

Rays | Logan Forsythe checks out early

Mon, 09 May 2016 20:13:19 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (undisclosed) left the game Monday, May 9, against the Seattle Mariners due to an undisclosed injury. SS Tim Beckham took over for Forsythe at second base.

Fantasy Tip: The source and severity of Forsythe's injury is not yet known, but we'll keep you updated. He has been a pleasant surprise for the Rays, posting a strong average with occasional pop.

Rays | Another XBH for Logan Forsythe

Fri, 06 May 2016 23:46:34 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored Friday, May 6, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to push his average to .316.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe entered the game on a mini slide, but he remains one of the biggest fantasy surprises in the American League. He is hitting .316 with nine doubles, a triple, four homers and 10 RBIs in 98 at-bats.

Rays | Logan Forsythe reaches four times

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 21:49:11 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe went 3-for-3 with a solo home run, walk and two RBIs Saturday, April 30, against the Toronto Blue Jays. He is hitting .388 over his past 11 games.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe wrapped up April with a .341 average, four homers and 10 RBIs. He is a must-start fantasy option in AL-only fantasy play, and a useful option in deeper mixed formats due to his positional versatility.
