Tigers | Justin Upton out of lineup Sunday

Sun, 22 May 2016 09:38:15 -0700

Detroit Tigers OF Justin Upton, C James McCann and Jose Iglesias are not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer Sunday, May 22. OF Steven Moya will play left field and bat sixth, C Jarrod Saltalamacchia will start behind the plate and bat eighth and INF Andrew Romine will play shortstop and bat ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Saltalamacchia is batting just .163 over the last four weeks and Romine is just 1-for-16 at the plate this year, so both players should be avoided in all fantasy formats. Moya is 7-for-19 (.368) with three extra-base hits and is worth considering as a productive means of salary cap relief in DFS.

Tigers | Jose Iglesias not in Tuesday lineup

Tue, 10 May 2016 12:51:30 -0700

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 10, against the Washington Nationals. SS Andrew Romine will bat eighth against Nationals SP Joe Ross.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be a normal night off for Iglesias, who played in four straight games prior to Tuesday. Romine carries no value in daily fantasy leagues, with one hit in his last 13 at-bats. Your best bet is to look elsewhere for a shortstop.

Tigers | Three Detroit regulars out

Thu, 05 May 2016 11:25:35 -0700

Detroit Tigers C James McCann, SS Jose Iglesias and OF Anthony Gose are not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 5. C Jarrod Saltalamacchia is doing the catching and hitting seventh, 3B Mike Aviles is at the 6 and is batting eighth, and SS Andrew Romine is in center field and is hitting ninth against Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer.

Fantasy Tip: Salty got hot with regular playing time when McCann was on the DL, but has only four hits in his last 29 at-bats (.138). He's a low-end catching option if you're looking to save salary cap space. Aviles and Romine are desperation daily picks and should be avoided.

Tigers | Jose Iglesias returns to lineup

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 09:06:57 -0700

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias is back in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Tyler Duffey Saturday, April 30, batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Although Iglesias is hitting .284 through his first 67 at-bats this year, he's only worth using in AL-only fantasy leagues because he's not much of a contributor for counting stats.

Tigers | Mike Aviles starting vs. Twins

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 12:41:57 -0700

Detroit Tigers INF/OF Mike Aviles is starting at shortstop and batting seventh against Minnesota Twins SP Phil Hughes Friday, April 29. SS Jose Iglesias is not in the starting lineup Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles hasn't played much this season and is just 3-for-16 without an extra-base hit. He is nothing more than a desperation flier in all fantasy formats Friday. Iglesias is a respectable contact hitter with a .298/.349/.360 slash line dating back to last season, but you can't rely on him for counting stats, and he should be left to cavernous mixed and AL-only formats.

Tigers | Jose Iglesias batting second

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 07:27:58 -0700

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias is batting second against Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco Sunday, April 24.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias has climbed the lineup with Miguel Cabrera and Justin Upton sitting Sunday. It isn't a great matchup to take a flier on Igelsias in daily contests, though. Carrasco has allowed just two runs on eight hits through his past two outings.

Tigers | Jose Iglesias sitting out

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 09:18:39 -0700

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias is not in the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Corey Kluber Saturday, April 23. SS Andrew Romine will start at shortstop and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Romine has received only five at-bats so far this season and is not a strong fantasy option for any owners.

Tigers | Three Tigers take a seat

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 07:10:01 -0700

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias, OF Anthony Gose and C Jarrod Saltalamacchia are out of the lineup Thursday, April 14. OF Tyler Collins is hitting sixth, C Bobby Wilson is hitting seventh and SS Andrew Romine is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: The trio is a combined 1-for-5 (.200) this season, and none of them provide enough upside for a DFS start. Furthermore, Jordan Zimmermann is hitting ninth in the National League park, which means the bottom of Detroit's order is even more questionable. That could affect Ian Kinsler in the leadoff spot. Kinsler is on a .355-3-8 tear and remains a daily consideration, but his RBI upside is minimal today.

Tigers | Jose Iglesias avoids arbitration

Fri, 15 Jan 2016 16:48:54 -0800

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year deal with the team Friday, Jan. 15. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias missed around the last month of the 2015 season but still posted a solid .300 batting average. Iglesias should not be a big fantasy option this season but could be selected in AL-only leagues.
