Rangers | Jurickson Profar won't need surgery

Mon, 24 Mar 2014 08:49:32 -0700

Texas Rangers 2B Jurickson Profar (shoulder) won't need surgery to fix a slight tear in the teres major muscle in his right shoulder, and he's expected to have four to six weeks of limited baseball activities before easing back into a throwing program. Profar injured his shoulder Saturday, March 22, while making a relay throw. The team is unsure if they'll use SSs Joshua Wilson or Adam Rosales to replace Profar at second base.

Fantasy Tip: Profar should be fine for the second half of the season, but he likely won't make much of an impact before the All-Star break. If you're in a deep league, you might not be able to afford cutting him if you have DL spots to play with. None of the replacements at the keystone on Texas' roster are worth bidding on.

Rangers | Jurickson Profar out

Sun, 23 Mar 2014 15:19:04 -0700

Texas Rangers 2B Jurickson Profar (shoulder) will miss 10-12 weeks with a torn teres major muscle.

Fantasy Tip: This is tough news for the kid, who was having a decent spring. He can be dumped in mixed leagues. Adam Rosales is in line to take over at second base, but he presents very little value outside of depth in AL-only leagues.

Rangers | Jurickson Profar not playing D yet

Fri, 07 Mar 2014 13:55:59 -0800

Texas Rangers 2B Jurickson Profar (shoulder) is expected to play in the field "sometime after the middle of the month," according to manager Ron Washington. Profar was 2-for-4 with a grand slam as the designated hitter Thursday, March 6. "He's throwing in drills now and he's up to 100-something feet so once we can get him out there to 190 feet where he can throw and keep the ball with some velocity on it, we'll get him out there," Washington said. "At least, he's throwing in the drills now and that's a good thing."
