Indians | Jason Kipnis could start in three-hole

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 13:31:07 -0800

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis could bat third to start the season with OF Michael Brantley (shoulder) projected to miss approximately the first month of the season.

Fantasy Tip: For the first month of the season, should Kipnis hit third, he projects to see more RBI opportunities and likely score fewer runs. However, it isn't a huge difference maker for his fantasy value. Kipnis bounced back with an All-Star season in 2015, and he checks out as a high-end option at the keystone and is worth a look in the early middle rounds of drafts entering 2016. Brantley is a speculative grab and stash outside the top-100 picks.

Indians | Jason Kipnis not an OF option

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 19:11:39 -0800

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis played outfield in college and early in his career in the minor leagues. However, even with the team light in the outfield with OF Michael Brantley (shoulder) recovering from surgery, general manager Chris Antonetti said Kipnis is not considered as an option to help out in the outfield, even if just temporary.

Fantasy Tip: Kipnis fantasy owners would love the extra eligibility and flexibility, but it doesn't appear to be something you'll need to worry about.

Indians | Jason Kipnis not starting Sunday

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 12:07:42 -0700

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis is not in the starting lineup against Boston Red Sox SP Rick Porcello Sunday, Oct. 4. INF Jose Ramirez will bat fifth and play second base.

Fantasy Tip: After a dismal first half, Ramirez ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is batting .259 with five home runs and 19 RBIs in 158 at-bats since the All-Star break. He could be worth considering as a FantasyScore value play.

Indians | Jason Kipnis returns

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 14:27:25 -0700

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis (shoulder, neck) is hitting third Saturday, Oct. 3, against Boston Red Sox SP Craig Breslow.

Fantasy Tip: Kipnis ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) hasn't hit lefties particularly well this year, but he has a .320-0-2 line the last week. He's at a very good price on FantasyScore.

Indians | Jason Kipnis out of lineup Friday

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 19:38:13 -0700

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis (shoulder, neck) was not in the starting lineup against the Boston Red Sox Friday, Oct. 2. He has been battling shoulder and neck issues for several weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Kipnis ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has been performing well while playing through the pain, going 10-for-30 at the plate over the past week. That being said, the nagging injuries make him a risky play for FantasyScore this weekend.

Indians | Jason Kipnis returns to lineup

Sat, 19 Sep 2015 12:16:21 -0700

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis will bat leadoff against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon Saturday, Sept. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Kipnis ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has an unfavorable matchup tonight, so FantasyScore owners should avoid using him. He is just 9-for-59 at the plate this month and is hitless in 10 career at-bats versus Rodon.

Indians | Jason Kipnis sitting vs. White Sox

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 13:34:46 -0700

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis is not in the starting lineup Friday, Sept. 18. SS Jose Ramirez is starting at second base and batting ninth against Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Kipnis ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has hit a wall since returning from injury Tuesday, Aug. 18, with a .571 OPS. At this stage of the fantasy season, it isn't out of the question to look for an upgrade. Ramirez ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) owns a .208/.279/.325 slash line against lefties, and he is an ill-advised FantasyScore option Friday.

Indians | Jason Kipnis playing through stiff neck

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 14:26:11 -0700

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis (neck) has been dealing with a stiff neck the past few days, which is why he is serving as the designated hitter Monday, Sept. 14, according to manager Terry Francona.

Fantasy Tip: Kipnis ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) owns a sub-.200 batting average with a .563 OPS over his 23 games since returning from the disabled list Tuesday, Aug. 18. He remains a must-own player in all fantasy leagues, but it wouldn't be out of the question to bench him and avoid him at FantasyScore, especially since he clearly isn't 100%.

Indians | Jason Kipnis resting Monday

Mon, 07 Sep 2015 09:06:38 -0700

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis is out of the lineup Monday, Sept. 7, with 2B Mike Aviles hitting second.

Fantasy Tip: Aviles ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has the misfortune of facing Chris Sale today and isn't a great FantasyScore option.

Indians | Jason Kipnis serving as DH

Sat, 29 Aug 2015 12:24:29 -0700

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis will bat leadoff and serve as the designated hitter against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Garrett Richards Saturday, Aug. 29. INF Jose Ramirez will play second base and bat ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Over the past week, Kipnis ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is 7-for-21 with a home run and six RBIs. Ramirez ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is only batting .200 through 70 games this season and is not a viable FantasyScore option.
