Indians | Zach McAllister lands on disabled list

Thu, 07 Jul 2016 19:28:06 -0700

Cleveland Indians P Zach McAllister (hip) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list because of discomfort in his right hip.

Fantasy Tip: This could have explained the 28-year-old right-hander's struggles in his last appearance versus the Detroit Tigers Wednesday, July 6, when he allowed four runs in just one-third of an inning. He is 2-2 with a 5.40 ERA in 30 appearances this season and isn't worth stashing outside of AL-only fantasy leagues.

Indians | Danny Salazar to stick in rotation

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 15:22:20 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar's start Saturday, April 18, will not be a spot start, according to manager Terry Francona. The team feels that SP Zach McAllister can be a "weapon" out of the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: Salazar is a very attractive cheap FantasyScore option tomorrow against the offensively-challenged Minnesota Twins. Strongly consider him. McAllister can now be ditched in AL-only leagues, while Salazar will be a popular addition in single-universe and deep mixed leagues this weekend.

Indians | Final two rotation spots announced

Sun, 29 Mar 2015 15:02:08 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP T.J. House and Zach McAllister have nailed down the fourth and fifth pitching spots in the rotation.

Fantasy Tip: House was a decent bet to land the fourth spot, but the fifth spot was between McAllister and Danny Salazar. House is a late-round selection in AL leagues, but McAllister could be removed if he has a bad start and Salazar pitches better in the minors. Keep an eye on how the season starts.

Indians | T.J. House all but handed No. 4 spot

Mon, 23 Mar 2015 13:38:12 -0700

Cleveland Indians SP T.J. House is the front-runner to be the fourth starter in the rotation. Danny Salazar, Zach McAllister and Josh Tomlin continue to battle for the fifth spot.

Fantasy Tip: House ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is a late-round flier for mixed leagues, but keep in mind, he pitched better last season with the Indians than he ever did in the minors. House's first start projects to be against the Detroit Tigers, which isn't an ideal spot for FantasyScore contests. However, Detroit could be without a couple middle-of-the-order bats, if Miguel Cabrera and/or Victor Martinez aren't ready to play yet. So House could have upside, especially at his price point. Continue to check back for updates on the battle for the fifth starter, but Salazar is deserving of a late-round selection in mixed leagues based on his high-strikeout potential.

Indians | Cleveland has rotation openings

Mon, 16 Mar 2015 14:18:18 -0700

Cleveland Indians SPs T.J. House, Danny Salazar, Zach McAllister, Josh Tomlin, Shaun Marcum and Bruce Chen will battle for the two open spots in the team's starting rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Expect Salazar and House to break camp with the jobs. While Tomlin and McAllister tip the scales slightly in AL-only formats, the other two hold no fantasy value. Last season, Salazar failed to follow up his monster 2013 second half and even spent time in the minors. He possess a high-end arsenal of pitches and significant upside, especially in the punch-out department, but shouldn't be viewed as anything more than a late-round flier in mixed leagues. House is a flier in deep mixed leagues, but he is likely be left to AL-only formats. He was better with Cleveland, than he was throughout his entire time at Class AAA, which highlights the risk associated with his fantasy stock.

Indians | Zach McAllister to be part of staff

Sun, 22 Feb 2015 19:10:05 -0800

Cleveland Indians SP Zach McAllister is expected to break camp with the team due to the fact he is out of options, and he proved last season he could pitch out of the bullpen as well as serve as a starter. "I think he's really excited to know he's going to be on the ballclub," manager Terry Francona said Sunday, Feb. 22.

Fantasy Tip: McAllister's role is yet to be determined, therefore his fantasy outlook is up in the air at the moment. If he works in a long relief role he is only worth a look in rotisserie formats for help in the ERA and WHIP categories. If he can win a rotation job he will obviously have more appeal.

Indians | Bruce Chen to get crack at rotation

Wed, 18 Feb 2015 00:09:31 -0800

Cleveland Indians SP Bruce Chen will get a crack at the starting rotation this spring, but Chen will have plenty of competition for the fifth spot. Danny Salazar, T.J. House and Zach McAllister will also compete for the job.

Indians | Several Indians to battle for last rotation job

Tue, 16 Dec 2014 20:36:47 -0800

Cleveland Indians SPs Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco, Trevor Bauer and Gavin Floyd comprise the first four spots of the rotation, according to general manager Chris Antonetti. That leaves SPs T.J. House, Zach McAllister, Danny Salazar and Josh Tomlin in a battle for the fifth rotation job once spring training rolls around. McAllister is out of options and could open in the bullpen if he fails to secure a rotation spot.
