Yankees | Nathan Eovaldi to start Wednesday

Tue, 30 Jun 2015 06:15:32 -0700

New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi will start Wednesday, July 1, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. SP Adam Warren has been shifted to the bullpen.

Fantasy Tip: Eovadi ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) has a 4.81 ERA and isn't much of an option on FantasyScore right now.

Yankees | Two candidates to start Saturday

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 22:34:26 -0700

New York Yankees SPs Nathan Eovaldi and Bryan Mitchell are two candidates to fill the vacant spot in the rotation Saturday, June 20, against the Detroit Tigers.

Fantasy Tip: Eovaldi ($4,800; or 9.6% of cap) was chased in the first inning last time out, so FantasyScore players canít really trust him at this point.

Yankees | Nathan Eovaldi rocked by former team

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 04:44:07 -0700

New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi lasted just two-thirds of an inning and gave up eight runs Tuesday, June 16, against the Miami Marlins.

Fantasy Tip: Eovaldi ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has struggled in interleague play, and this was a double whammy because Eovaldi faced his former team. You may want to leave Eovaldi off your roster despite a 5-2 record, mainly because of his interleague struggles.

Yankees | Nathan Eovaldi struggles in interleague play

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 10:05:30 -0700

New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi is 0-4 in 11 career interleague starts, and Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper and SS Ian Desmond both hit home runs off of him last month when he allowed five runs in 4 1/3 innings to the Nationals.

Fantasy Tip: Eovaldi ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is a dicey FantasyScore option Wednesday afternoon against the Nationals after allowing five runs to them in Washington the last time he faced them. Now he'll take them on in the hitter-friendly environment of Yankee Stadium.

Yankees | Michael Pineda to be skipped

Fri, 05 Jun 2015 13:44:09 -0700

New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda will have his next start skipped in order to preserve his innings for the season. SP CC Sabathia will now go Sunday, June 7, SP Masahiro Tanaka will pitch Tuesday, June 9, and SP Nathan Eovaldi will go Wednesday, June 10. Pineda's next start will come Friday, June 12.

Fantasy Tip: Pineda ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) is having a fine season with a 3.33 ERA and 9.7 strikeouts per nine innings over 11 starts. Instead he'll face the Baltimore Orioles in a week and should be a fine starting pitching option on FantasyScore. The way the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have been hitting, Sabathia on Sunday is a pretty big risk not worth taking.

Yankees | Nathan Eovaldi makes change to motion

Wed, 22 Apr 2015 12:27:49 -0700

New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi made a small adjustment to his pitching motion which allowed him to hold the Detroit Tigers to one run Tuesday, April 21. Pitching coach Larry Rothschild had Eovaldi keep his right arm closer to his body as he brought his arm back on his delivery. The adjustment helped the precision of his pitches.

Fantasy Tip: Eovaldi ($4,100, 4.2% of cap) has pitched pretty well so far this season and has struck out 14 batters in 17 1/3 innings over three starts. He is scheduled to pitch against the New York Mets in his next start, which could be a tough matchup since they rank in the top 10 in runs scored and batting average.

Yankees | Nathan Eovaldi racks up decent K total

Wed, 15 Apr 2015 21:11:43 -0700

New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi allowed two earned runs and eight hits with three walks and nine strikeouts over five innings in a no-decision against the Baltimore Orioles Wednesday, April 15.

Fantasy Tip: Eovaldi crushed fantasy owners in rotisserie formats in the WHIP category, but his nine punchouts were very pleasing to FantasyScore players at just $4,100 (or 8.2% of cap). His next probable start is set for April 21 in Detroit, so you might want to avoid against a solid hitting club on the road.

Yankees | Nathan Eovaldi's split a work in progress

Wed, 25 Mar 2015 11:35:47 -0700

New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi's new splitter has been described as a work in progress this spring by C Austin Romine. Eovaldi is also trying to refine his slider and curve ball in camp, and the Yanks are hoping it transforms him into a reliable rotation member in 2015. Pitching coach Larry Rothschild thought Eovaldi was rushing his offspeed pitches in his last outing.

Fantasy Tip: Eovaldi throws as hard as they come for a starting pitcher, but he allowed the most hits in the league last year with a fastball that was too straight. Adding in some wrinkles should help his strikeout numbers in the Bronx, but you'll likely need to practice patience with him, at least initially. Eovaldi is more of an AL-only asset, for now.

Yankees | Nathan Eovaldi working on splitter

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 12:52:45 -0800

New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi has been working on improving his splitter during spring training and hopes to make it a strikeout pitch this season along with his fastball and slider.

Fantasy Tip: Eovaldi is expected to be the No. 4 starting pitcher for the Yankees this season and could have a bigger role if he is able to improve on his pitches. Eovaldi could be an option in the later rounds of mixed league drafts because of his strikeout potential.

Yankees | Nathan Eovaldi working on offspeed pitches

Thu, 12 Feb 2015 13:40:12 -0800

New York Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi has already thrown several bullpen sessions at the team's minor league complex with pitching coach Larry Rothschild as he works on his offspeed pitches. Eovaldi went 6-14 with a 4.37 ERA in 33 starts (199 2/3 innings) for the Miami Marlins, and he averaged 95.5 mph on his fastball, which was fourth best in the majors. However, he also allowed a National League-high 223 hits.
