Rangers | Martin Perez tabbed for ALDS loss

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 04:23:54 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez lost Game 3 of the American League Division Series on Sunday, Oct. 11, as he dropped a 5-1 decision to the Toronto Blue Jays. Perez gave up four runs and six hits while pitching into the sixth inning.

Fantasy Tip: Granted, Perez ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) surrendered only one big mistake, and that was Troy Tulowitzki's three-run homer. All in all, it wasn't a bad outing. Still, Perez doesn't carry as much weight as a pitcher like Cole Hamels does in FantasyScore circles, so be cautious.

Blue Jays | Russell Martin out of ALDS Game 3 lineup

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 14:22:35 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays C Russell Martin is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Oct. 11, for Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the Texas Rangers. C Dioner Navarro will bat seventh against Rangers SP Martin Perez.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) has a higher batting average against the left, but 18 of Martin's 23 homers have come against right-handed pitching. Navarro ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has a similar average (.278-3-5 against lefties), so he may be a decent option if you're trying to save some cap room.

Rangers | Martin Perez tabbed for Game 3

Thu, 08 Oct 2015 09:41:33 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez will start Game 3 of the division series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Fantasy Tip: The Blue Jays had the highest OPS (.818) against left-handers this season, making Perez ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) an extremely risky FantasyScore pick in the divisional round.

Rangers | Martin Perez has been good at home

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 09:21:28 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez has three straight wins in his last four starts at home with a 2.28 ERA in those starts. Perez allowed two unearned runs in six innings against the Houston Astros his last time out. He faces the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: The Angels have been pretty bad against lefties all season long but swung the bats better during a playoff push in September. There's still a lot on the line here, so Perez ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is a risk/reward play on FantasyScore tonight.

Rangers | Martin Perez to be skipped

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 19:40:47 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez will not make his next scheduled start Wednesday, Aug. 26, as the team tries to limit his innings.

Fantasy Tip: With Perez ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) being skipped, check back to see who will fill in case there is some sleeper potential at FantasyScore for his replacement.

Rangers | Martin Perez tagged with loss

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 19:26:27 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez (1-3) allowed three runs on six hits over five innings in a loss to the Detroit Tigers Thursday, Aug. 20, with three walks and four strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) had allowed just five earned runs in his previous 20 1/3 innings entering the game. He will look to bounce back in his next start against the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Rangers | Martin Perez still searching for win

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 18:22:00 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez allowed four runs - three earned - and six hits while allowed four walks over six innings in a no-decision Wednesday, July 22, against the Colorado Rockies. Perez hasn't had a win in 15 months, spending a majority of that time on the sidelines recovering from Tommy John surgery last May.

Fantasy Tip: Perez ($4,200; or 8.4% of cap) hasn't been that crisp, but he has also missed quite a bit of time so FantasyScore players will want to avoid him until he starts ticking off wins and pitching with more efficiency.

Rangers | Martin Perez loses in return

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 20:50:13 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez (elbow) allowed three runs on nine hits over five innings in a loss to the Houston Astros Friday, July 17, in his first start since returning from Tommy John surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Perez has not pitched since May 2014, so give him a few starts before to see where his command and endurance are at before deciding whether or not to use him at FantasyScore.

Rangers | Martin Perez starting Friday

Mon, 13 Jul 2015 14:38:31 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez (elbow) is starting against the Houston Astros Friday, July 17.

Fantasy Tip: It'll be Perez's season debut. He posted a 4.95 ERA, a 1.45 WHIP and a 7.6 K/9 over four starts during his rehab assignment with Class AAA Round Rock. He has nice pedigree, and the 24-year-old lefty has been pitching professionally since 2008. Still, he is an extremely risky start in daily contests Friday. He tips the scales in deep mixed leagues, though, and is worth a speculative flier.

Rangers | Martin Perez close to returning

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 09:14:25 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez (elbow) could make one last rehab start before returning from the disabled list after the All-Star break. Perez allowed two runs on seven hits in six innings Tuesday, July 7, at Class AAA Round Rock. Perez has a 3.66 ERA, 21 strikeouts and three walks in 19 2/3 innings in the minors.

Fantasy Tip: Perez should be stashed in as many leagues as possible. Expect growing pains fresh off Tommy John surgery, but he has a high ceiling.
