Giants | Brandon Belt drives in four

Fri, 01 Jul 2016 05:16:02 -0700

San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt drove in four runs Thursday, June 30, in a 12-6 win over the Oakland Athletics.

Fantasy Tip: It has been another solid season for Belt (.300-10-42), and the best part is he appears to have cut down on the strikeouts. Belt has 57 in 78 games after ending last year with 147 whiffs. Belt should be played in all formats.

Giants | Brandon Belt stays hot in June

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 23:48:23 -0700

San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a run scored and three RBI against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday, June 24.

Fantasy Tip: After a middling month of May (.280-2-8), Belt has been a steady producer in June, hitting safely in 17 of his 19 starts and going for 25-for-73 (.343) with five home runs and 13 RBI. Belt is a solid option in all leagues.

Giants | Three Giants take a seat

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 08:02:51 -0700

San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt, OF Angel Pagan and OF Gregor Blanco are out of the lineup Thursday, June 23. OF Mac Williamson is hitting third, C Trevor Brown hits fifth and OF Jarrett Parker hits seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Williamson is hitting .182 on the year, but he's a stud of a basement play today hitting ahead of Buster Posey, who shifted to first base. Brown is hitting .238 this month, but he has some upside for his place in the lineup against Jonathon Niese. Parker doesn't deserve much consideration against the lefty.

Giants | Brandon Belt slugs 10th home run

Sun, 19 Jun 2016 14:05:38 -0700

San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and scored twice against the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, June 18.

Fantasy Tip: Belt posted a nearly identical line against Tampa Bay on Friday and is batting .358 with five home runs and 10 RBI this month, with three homers and six RBI alone since last Sunday. The 28-year-old Texas native is hitting .305 for the season and has nearly as many walks (44) as strikeouts (45), so he's obviously seeing the ball very well. Keep him active as the red-hot Giants visit the struggling Pittsburgh Pirates for four games beginning on Monday.

Giants | Brandon Belt starting Friday

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 13:06:04 -0700

San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt (ankle) is in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer Friday, June 17, and is batting third.

Fantasy Tip: Belt has been on a hot streak over the last few weeks and has at least one hit in 14 of his last 16 games. Belt should be a starting option in all leagues as long as he is producing at the plate.

Giants | Brandon Belt says he's starting Friday

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 17:37:23 -0700

San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt (ankle) is walking without a limp and the swelling is "pretty much" gone. He said he plans to return to the starting lineup Friday, June 17.

Fantasy Tip: Well, this is certainly news his fantasy owners want to hear after the 28-year-old had to miss one game as a result of being hit by a pitch on Tuesday. Belt is having a nice sixth year in the big leagues and can confidently be returned to starting lineups across all fantasy leagues.

Giants | Brandon Belt hopeful for Friday

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 11:49:26 -0700

San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt (ankle) is hopeful to return to the lineup Friday, June 17, and felt iffy to pinch hit Wednesday, June 15.

Fantasy Tip: Conor Gillaspie is in for him Wednesday, but he's hitting .158 on the year. He's not a good option against Jimmy Nelson today. Belt is an upper-middle option when he returns.

Giants | Brandon Belt out Wednesday

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 10:48:19 -0700

San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt (ankle) is limping and is having his ankle iced as he sits out of the starting lineup Wednesday, June 15. He was hit by a pitch Tuesday, June 14.

Fantasy Tip: Belt is hurting but shouldn't be out for too much longer. Keep tabs on his recovery, though. He's having a fine year with a .301/.412/.514 slash line and eight home runs and 33 RBI. He's a starting fantasy first baseman in all formats when healthy. Conor Gillaspie is replacing him at first base today and isn't much of a daily fantasy option.

Giants | Brandon Belt homer wins Sunday

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 23:05:00 -0700

San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning Sunday, June 12, as the Giants topped the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2-1. Belt had a .298-7-29 line entering the game.

Fantasy Tip: Barring injury, Belt should be in all fantasy lineups. He is one of the better hitting first baseman in either league. Belt is also on pace for less than 100 strikeouts, which would be below the 147 he hit last season.

Giants | Brandon Belt hitting third

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 15:03:20 -0700

San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt is hitting third Saturday, June 11, with 3B Matt Duffy down to the fifth spot.

Fantasy Tip: Belt is hitting third against left-hander Scott Kazmir. This speaks volumes for his progression as a hitter. He hit .263 against lefties from 2013-15, and he's hitting .286 against southpaws this season. He's a solid option in the upper-middle area of the position. Duffy is hitting just .200 this month but remains a fringe target in DFS.
