Yankees | Brian McCann resting against lefty

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 10:25:54 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is not in the lineup against Boston Red Sox left-handed SP Henry Owens Wednesday, Sept. 1. C J.R. Murphy is receiving the start and is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) doesn't have a bad line for a backup catcher (.279-1-11), but he lacks power and is a lotto ticket on FantasyScore mainly as a source of salary cap relief.

Yankees | Brian McCann not starting Tuesday

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 13:12:36 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is out of the starting lineup Tuesday, Aug. 25, against the Houston Astros. C J.R. Murphy is hitting seventh against Astros SP Dallas Keuchel.

Fantasy Tip: With Alex Rodriguez serving as DH for this game, McCann ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is taking a seat. Murphy ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has little fantasy value.

Yankees | Alex Rodriguez sitting again

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 08:26:39 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez is not in the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer Sunday, Aug. 23. C Brian McCann will serve as the designated hitter and is batting fourth, while C J.R. Murphy will start at catcher and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) should return to the lineup in the near future. Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) has only two hits in his last six games and probably could be avoided on FantasyScore.

Yankees | Alex Rodriguez will not start

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 08:24:13 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez is not in the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Danny Salazar Saturday, Aug. 22. C Brian McCann will serve as the designated hitter and is batting fourth, while C J.R. Murphy will start at catcher and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) probably is receiving a day off and should play in the next game or two. Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting only .222 this month and is not the best option for owners on FantasyScore.

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is out of the lineup Wednesday, Aug. 19, with C J.R. Murphy hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) faces Ervin Santana and isn't a potent enough offensive option to use on FantasyScore.

Yankees | Brian McCann not playing Saturday

Sat, 15 Aug 2015 08:12:45 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is not in the starting lineup against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada Saturday, Aug. 15. C J.R. Murphy will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: McCann ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) is coming off a night game, so he is likely receiving a day off. Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) has a solid .283 batting average in limited playing time this season and could be an option for owners on FantasyScore looking to save some money.

Yankees | No Brian McCann vs. Red Sox

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 13:52:01 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Yankees C Brian McCann (knee) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 5. C J.R. Murphy is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Boston Red Sox SP Steven Wright Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Continue to check back for updates on McCann ($4,900, 9.8% of cap), as there should be a clearer indication of the severity of his injury sooner than later. McCann has been a solid options in all formats this year with 44 runs, 18 home runs, 65 RBI and a .255/.325/.477 slash line. Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) has held his own when given an opportunity with a .286/.327/.398 line over 108 plate appearances, and FantasyScore players could have an upside source of cap relief on their hands Wednesday.

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 13:34:27 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is out of the starting lineup Saturday, Aug. 1, against the Chicago White Sox and LHP John Danks. C J.R. Murphy will start behind the plate and hit seventh in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting a modest .250 against left-handed pitching this season, but he'll offer cap relief for FantasyScore owners willing to punt the catcher position.

Yankees | Trio of lefties out for Yanks

Fri, 31 Jul 2015 16:37:35 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner, C Brian McCann and 2B Stephen Drew are all out of the lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon Friday, July 31. OF Chris Young is starting in right field and hitting second, C J.R. Murphy is behind the plate and hitting seventh and SS Brendan Ryan is at second base and hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: The only one worth considering at FantasyScore is really Young ($3,000, 6.0% of cap), who excels against lefties. He's in a prime lineup spot to capitalize and return great profit for his daily owners, too. Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) and Ryan ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) are strictly desperation sources of salary cap relief.

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 16:43:54 -0700

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is not in the lineup against Texas Rangers left-handed SP Martin Perez Tuesday, July 28. C J.R. Murphy is starting and hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting .271 (23-for-85) but has only one home run and eight RBI and has limited offensive upside. He's mainly a source of salary cap relief for the desperate at FantasyScore.
