Yankees | Starlin Castro tattoos sixth HR

Thu, 26 May 2016 17:29:37 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro went 1-for-4 with his sixth home run of the season Thursday, May 26, against the Toronto Blue Jays. He finished with the team's only run scored and RBI for the game.

Fantasy Tip: Castro has cooled off after a hot April, but he's still been arguably the most consistent hitter in the Yankees lineup. As long as he can maintain his production, he'll continue to be one of the more useful second basemen in fantasy despite his lack of speed on the basepaths.

Yankees | Starlin Castro back in lineup

Tue, 10 May 2016 13:03:42 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro (rib cage) is back in the starting lineup Tuesday, May 10, against the Kansas City Royals.

Fantasy Tip: Castro's return was a little quicker than anticipated, so obviously you're out of luck if you benched Castro in weekly leagues. He is hitting second against Royals SP Kris Medlen, which will give him more opportunities to drive in runs and create offense. He's worth picking up in daily fantasy lineups.

Yankees | Starlin Castro out vs. Royals

Mon, 09 May 2016 12:41:23 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro (rib cage) is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 9. 3B Ronald Torreyes is starting at second base and batting ninth against Kansas City Royals SP Chris Young Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Castro left the game Sunday, May 8, after tweaking his rib cage diving into third base. The injury isn't expected to be serious, but you'll want to replace him where you can in seasonal lineups and even consider benching him in weekly leagues. Torreyes is 11-for-35 during his career and could be a potential low-priced flier for daily contests Monday. He is also a viable depth option for AL-only leagues.

Yankees | Starlin Castro exits with injury

Sun, 08 May 2016 22:16:18 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro (rib cage) left the game Sunday, May 8, after he tweaked his rib cage diving back into third base. Castro said he could have stayed in, but manager Joe Girardi didn't want to take any chances.

Fantasy Tip: Dustin Ackley could receive some time at second if Castro is out. He would be a very low-end consideration in DFS.

Yankees | Brett Gardner, Chase Headley sitting

Thu, 05 May 2016 12:52:52 -0700

New York Yankees OF Brett Gardner and 3B Chase Headley are not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 5. OF Aaron Hicks is starting in left field and batting seventh, while 2B Ronald Torreyes is at the hot corner and is hitting ninth against Baltimore Orioles SP Kevin Gausman. 2B Starlin Castro moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Gardner and Headley are really struggling right now and could see more bench time in the near future while the Yanks look to get going offensively. Downgrade them both in deep mixed and AL leagues. Hicks and Torreyes don't move the needle much for daily gamers, while Castro's value receives a slight boost with the move up the lineup.

Yankees | Starlin Castro batting second again

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 13:50:24 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro is batting second against Oakland Athletics SP Kendall Graveman Wednesday, April 20. It is the second consecutive game Castro has hit second.

Fantasy Tip: Castro would receive a sizable boost in fantasy value if he can land a permanent spot hitting in front of the heart of the New York lineup, but for now just view it as a fleeting bonus. Through his first 12 games of the season, Castro has a .298/.340/.511 slash line with nine RBI, and he is a viable option at second base or shortstop in the majority of seasonal leagues.

Yankees | Starlin Castro likes the Bronx

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 14:39:13 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro is hitting .480 (12-for-25) with two home runs and eight RBI in six games at Yankee Stadium as opposed to .118 (2-for-17) on the road in five games.

Fantasy Tip: Small sample size warning. While it isn't many games to draw conclusions, Castro looks very comfortable in home pinstripes, and the change of scenery has revived his fantasy value. Everyday playing time with the Yankees has Castro as a must-own everywhere.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury out vs. lefty

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 12:39:18 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is not in the lineup against Oakland Athletics left-handed SP Eric Surkamp Tuesday, April 19. OF Aaron Hicks is starting in center field and hitting seventh in the batting order. OF Brett Gardner is leading off, and 2B Starlin Castro moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Against Surkamp in New York, choosing several Yanks hitters for your daily lineups wouldn't be a bad strategy. Hicks is a low-end sleeper pick to save salary cap space, while Castro gains significant value moving to the top of the lineup.

Yankees | Starlin Castro off to fine start

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 10:40:38 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro is hitting .333 on the young season, and he has five extra-base hits in 41 at-bats. It took him 130 at-bats to reach five extra-base hits in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Castro has taken well to his change of scenery and has been an excellent value buy for fantasy owners so far in the first month of the season. Everyday playing time will no doubt help his cause all season long. Continue running with him in all starting lineups.
