Yankees | Starlin Castro batting second again

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 13:50:24 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro is batting second against Oakland Athletics SP Kendall Graveman Wednesday, April 20. It is the second consecutive game Castro has hit second.

Fantasy Tip: Castro would receive a sizable boost in fantasy value if he can land a permanent spot hitting in front of the heart of the New York lineup, but for now just view it as a fleeting bonus. Through his first 12 games of the season, Castro has a .298/.340/.511 slash line with nine RBI, and he is a viable option at second base or shortstop in the majority of seasonal leagues.

Yankees | Starlin Castro likes the Bronx

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 14:39:13 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro is hitting .480 (12-for-25) with two home runs and eight RBI in six games at Yankee Stadium as opposed to .118 (2-for-17) on the road in five games.

Fantasy Tip: Small sample size warning. While it isn't many games to draw conclusions, Castro looks very comfortable in home pinstripes, and the change of scenery has revived his fantasy value. Everyday playing time with the Yankees has Castro as a must-own everywhere.

Yankees | Jacoby Ellsbury out vs. lefty

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 12:39:18 -0700

New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury is not in the lineup against Oakland Athletics left-handed SP Eric Surkamp Tuesday, April 19. OF Aaron Hicks is starting in center field and hitting seventh in the batting order. OF Brett Gardner is leading off, and 2B Starlin Castro moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Against Surkamp in New York, choosing several Yanks hitters for your daily lineups wouldn't be a bad strategy. Hicks is a low-end sleeper pick to save salary cap space, while Castro gains significant value moving to the top of the lineup.

Yankees | Starlin Castro off to fine start

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 10:40:38 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro is hitting .333 on the young season, and he has five extra-base hits in 41 at-bats. It took him 130 at-bats to reach five extra-base hits in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Castro has taken well to his change of scenery and has been an excellent value buy for fantasy owners so far in the first month of the season. Everyday playing time will no doubt help his cause all season long. Continue running with him in all starting lineups.

Yankees | Starlin Castro loving life in the Bronx

Sat, 16 Apr 2016 13:51:30 -0700

New York Yankees SS Starlin Castro went 3-for-5 and stole his two first bases of the season against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday, April 16. Castro is 11-for-20 at home this season, as opposed to 2-for-17 on the road.

Fantasy Tip: Taken one step further, Castro's only two hits on the road came in the same game - April 9 against the Detroit Tigers. Nevertheless, the end result is a .342 average, two homers and nine RBI through 10 games, which is more than most fantasy owners could have hoped for from Castro in his first two weeks as an American Leaguer. Keep him active in all leagues, but DFS players should note the home/road splits.

Yankees | A-Rod, Beltran out Friday

Fri, 08 Apr 2016 07:47:44 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez and OF Carlos Beltran are out of the lineup Friday, April 8. 2B Starlin Castro is hitting third, and OF Dustin Ackley is hitting fifth and playing first base with 1B Mark Teixeira in at DH.

Fantasy Tip: Castro is an attractive DFS option, but Ackley isn't one to trust against Jordan Zimmermann.

Yankees | Starlin Castro off to great start

Thu, 07 Apr 2016 16:15:31 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro went 2-for-4 with another home run against the Houston Astros Thursday, April 7, and he is 7-for-12 with two home runs and eight RBI in his first three games with the Yankees.

Fantasy Tip: We know it's just the first series of the season, but you can't argue that Castro looks to be very comfortable in his new home in the Bronx. With eligibility at shortstop and second base, Castro may wind up being one of the biggest middle infield bargains in fantasy in 2016 if he can keep it up.

Yankees | Starlin Castro sets Bronx Bombers record

Wed, 06 Apr 2016 22:36:03 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro had a home run and drove in five runs Wednesday, April 6, against the Houston Astros. He has a record seven RBIs through his first two games with the team, a new record for a player in his first two games with the team.

Fantasy Tip: Castro has stepped into the lineup and been a stud in his first two games with the team, and so far the move to the American League doesn't appear to be affecting him negatively one bit.

Yankees | Starlin Castro solid in NY debut

Tue, 05 Apr 2016 14:02:36 -0700

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro smacked a two-run double in his Yankees debut Tuesday, April 5, as New York beat the Houston Astros 5-3.

Fantasy Tip: Castro may benefit from a change of scenery, but he will also have plenty of scrutiny with the New York sports media and the back-page headlines. This is a good start for Castro, who should rank fairly high on most 2B lists in fantasy.

Yankees | Starlin Castro 3B experiment over

Thu, 10 Mar 2016 10:20:09 -0800

New York Yankees 2B Starlin Castro will no longer be playing at third base this spring. Manager Joe Girardi wants Castro to "make sure he's comfortable at second."

Fantasy Tip: It might be best for Castro, although he won't be able to gain another position for fantasy eligibility. Castro is still young and finished the second half strong with the Chicago Cubs. A move to Yankee Stadium could help him approach 20 dingers as a nice target in the middle rounds for your middle infield.
