Chicago Cubs SS Starlin Castro was moved to second in the batting order Thursday, April 3, after he started 0-for-9 in the first two games of the season. "Putting him in the two-hole may ease it a little bit," manager Rick Renteria said. "We'll continue to do whatever we can to put him in the best position possible. We need him. We need him to be able to show his offense. Put him in the two-hole now plays a little better, that's what we'll do."
Fantasy Tip: It's not a great start for Castro, but it's only a few games. Give him some more time before you start panicking and looking for backup plans at shortstop.

Chicago Cubs SS Starlin Castro (hamstring) was able to return to the starting lineup for the Cactus League spring game Saturday, March 29. He was hitless in two at-bats with a walk.
Fantasy Tip: The return was good news for nervous fantasy lineups, as he did not suffer any known setback and was able to play, so it appears there is little to no risk he lands on the 15-day disabled list now.

Chicago Cubs SS Starlin Castro (hamstring) is expected to return to major league exhibition games in one or both of the next two days after straining his hamstring March 2 sliding into second base. Castro has only played in two Cactus League games in camp, but he said he's now 100 percent healthy. He played the field and ran at full speed Wednesday, March 26, and he'll play all nine innings in a minor league game Thursday, March 27.
Fantasy Tip: If Castro gets through this weekend without any setbacks, he should be fine for opening day and the start of the regular season. Plan to have him in your starting lineups.

Chicago Cubs SS Starlin Castro (hamstring) said he's close to playing in a major league game and is playing defense after suffering a right hamstring strain March 2. Castro went 1-for-5 with an RBI single in a minor league game Monday, March 24.
Fantasy Tip: Barring any unforeseen setbacks, Castro expects to be ready for opening day. He hasn't received many at-bats this spring, however, so be wary of a sluggish start to the year.

Chicago Cubs SS Starlin Castro (hamstring) is close to returning to spring action, and the team is confident that he'll be ready to play on opening day. "Did all his running (Thursday)," manager Rick Renteria said. "Ran all the bases. Today was a day off from the running but (he's) fielding and hitting. We'll see how he feels at the end of the day and go from there." Renteria said he's not even thinking about a backup plan at shortstop. The Cubs have nine spring games remaining, but Castro could see action on the minor league side to get at-bats.
Fantasy Tip: Castro could be in for another slow start in the regular season as he gets his legs back under him. Keep that in mind. Javier Baez doesn't look to be a backup plan at shortstop, however, but the Cubbies could decide he gives them a better option at second or third base to start the season.

Chicago Cubs SS Starlin Castro (hamstring) didn't run Wednesday, March 19, but he continues to make progress. He's hoping to receive at-bats in minor league games to make up for the time he missed.
Fantasy Tip: Castro is running out of time before opening day, but there's still a chance he could be ready. If it continues to look as though he might have to open on the DL, expect his draft price to continue to fall.
