Atlanta Braves RP James Russell might be used in full innings, rather than coming in during the middle of frames, manager Fredi Gonzalez indicated Tuesday, Aug. 12. "Maybe I need to do a better job for him, maybe give him a full inning instead of bringing him in, in the middle of an inning, Gonzalez said. "We need to try to figure all of that out to make him perform at the level where he can help us."

The Atlanta Braves have acquired INF/OF Emilio Bonifacio and RP James Russell from the Chicago Cubs.
Fantasy Tip: Bonifacio will fill a utility role for the Braves. He is unlikely to see everyday at-bats, if the Braves remain healthy. With semi-regular at-bats, Bonifacio retains NL-only and deep mixed league value, due to his base stealing ability. Bonifacio could also push Tommy La Stella for playing time at the keystone position. Russell fills the left-handed-pitching void in the Braves' bullpen, but he has no fantasy value.

If he is not dealt at the trading deadline, Chicago Cubs RP James Russell has indicated he would like to start for the Cubs. "If we were to get a bunch of free-agent pitchers that were starters and bring them here, I could see a reason why I would stay in the bullpen," he said. "If we don't do that, I don't see the harm in getting the chance. But it's really not up to me."

The Chicago Cubs might still trade RPs James Russell or Wesley Wright before the trade deadline. Both pitchers are free agents after the 2015 season.
