Eagles | Philly quarterbacks should split reps

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 12:36:43 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QBs Sam Bradford, Carson Wentz and Chase Daniel will receive equal repetitions heading into training camp, according to head coach Doug Pederson. Pederson said Bradford likely won't take more reps than Wentz and Daniel until late in the preseason when starters usually ramp up their workload.

Fantasy Tip: The starting job seems to be Bradford's to lose, but Wentz and Daniel could make the decision tougher if they perform well enough will their equal reps. Bradford and the other two won't be worth drafting as a starting fantasy quarterback, however.

Eagles | Sam Bradford 'outstanding' in OTAs

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 07:16:58 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford has been "outstanding" in organized team activities and remains the No. 1 quarterback, according to head coach Doug Pederson. "Sam's taking this thing and running with it," Pederson said.

Fantasy Tip: It's a good start for Bradford, who initially was holding out after he was unhappy with Philadelphia's drafting of Carson Wentz second overall. Because of Bradfords' lengthy injury history and inconsistency when healthy, he shouldn't be considered anything more than a midrange fantasy starter entering the 2016 season.

Eagles | Sam Bradford to work out with teammates

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 10:58:43 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford said he plans to work out with several of the skill players during the first week in July in order to work on their timing leading up to training camp. WRs Jordan Matthews, Nelson Agholor and Chris Givens are among the players that will be part of the workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Bradford will try to improve his chemistry with some of the receivers before the start of camp. He will be the starting quarterback this season but probably will not be more than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in most leagues.

Eagles | Coach impressed with Sam Bradford

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 10:08:37 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford has been impressing the coaches during offseason workouts, according to quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo. DeFilippo said Bradford is one of the most naturally gifted passers he has seen in a while.

Fantasy Tip: Bradford will open the season as the starting quarterback as long as he is healthy. He will have weapons to work with in the passing game but probably is not more than a No. 2 fantasy quarterback at this point and will come with some risk since he could be replaced if he struggles.

Eagles | Carson Wentz off to fast start

Tue, 31 May 2016 02:48:32 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz has displayed an NFL-caliber arm and the ability to make every throw on the route-tree during practice, and beat writer Matt Lombardo believes Wentz seems to be ahead of QB Sam Bradford when it comes to mastering head coach Doug Pederson's offense.

Fantasy Tip: Based on experience, Bradford still has to be the frontrunner to open the year as the starter, but Wentz is obviously the future. Neither quarterback should be viewed as a fantasy starter in 2016, but whoever lands the starting gig could be a serviceable backup.

Eagles | Philly teammates on board with Sam Bradford

Fri, 27 May 2016 11:23:59 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles FS Malcolm Jenkins said the Eagles aren't harboring any ill feelings toward QB Sam Bradford after he skipped the start of the offseason program and demanded a trade. "But I think right now, barring anything crazy or anything changing over the next few months, I think everybody is very comfortable with Sam and looking forward to him falling into that role," Jenkins said.

Fantasy Tip: That stance could change quickly if Bradford struggles out of the gates in 2016. Bradford has been too injury-prone and inconsistent to use as anything more than a fantasy backup so far in his career.

Eagles | No QB order set in Philly

Wed, 25 May 2016 11:33:46 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich said that the order set with QB Sam Bradford as the No. 1, QB Chase Daniel as the backup and QB Carson Wentz as the third guy is "probably not the right impression." "But the other thing that -- as coaches -- that you've got to establish is a culture of competition. This is one of the most competitive industries in the world and so, to say that there's not competition, that's just the furthest thing from the truth."

Fantasy Tip: Head coach Doug Pederson confirmed that Bradford was the starter recently after the quarterback ended his brief holdout. It's likely just coach speak from Reich, and we fully expect Bradford to enter Week 1 as the starter. Bradford's leash could be short, though, since Pederson has an affinity for Daniel and Wentz has the skills to be serviceable in the NFL quickly. Bradford, or whoever is starting for Philly in 2016, should be firmly in the fantasy backup conversation.

Eagles | Zach Ertz not worried about QB situation

Thu, 19 May 2016 19:13:18 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz said he isn't going to run his routes any differently for QB Sam Bradford than he would for QB Carson Wentz.

Fantasy Tip: Ertz has TE1 potential, but consistency has been an issue throughout his career. The quarterback situation shouldn't impact his value too much, and Ertz's upside is worth taking a chance on if you wait until later in your draft to address the tight end spot.

Eagles | Jordan Matthews has rapport with Bradford

Thu, 19 May 2016 09:58:20 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews flew to Oklahoma in March to work with QB Sam Bradford, and Matthews is OK with Bradford's trade request earlier in the offseason.

"If I'm cool with it, then everybody should be cool with it," Matthews said. "Look, if I want to be here, and I'm happy with it, and we can go out there and just compete, that's all I want to focus on. That's all that matters."

Fantasy Tip: Matthews had a decent 85-997-8 season last year, but he was really hamstrung by the absence of a legitimate target opposite of him. Rueben Randle and Chris Givens should help deter double coverages from him. Matthews is a high-end WR2 in fantasy, while Bradford's fragility makes him a low-end QB2.

Eagles | Sam Bradford works with first-team

Wed, 18 May 2016 09:47:31 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford worked with the first-team offense during organized team activities Tuesday, May 17, with QB Chase Daniel taking repetitions with the second-team and QB Carson Wentz with the third-team. "I've actually talked to Sam since he's back," head coach Doug Pederson said, "and I told him: My feelings haven't changed. He's my guy. He's the No. 1 guy. I want him to embrace that and not look backward. Look forward."

Fantasy Tip: Bradford is expected to enter the season as the starter, but he may not have a long leash if he struggles, especially since Pederson has a history with Daniel and has high praise for him. Regardless, Wentz is the QB of the future in Philly. Bradford is nothing more than a midrange fantasy backup, but he can put up low-end QB1 numbers in the right matchups.
