Thu, 07 Nov 2013 08:51:15 -0800

Updating a previous report, St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford (knee) had his knee surgery delayed because of swelling in his knee, according to head coach Jeff Fisher. "It will be in the near future," Fisher said. "There was a little bit of swelling from the work that he was doing. Nowadays, the physicians prefer to really strengthen the knee, strengthen the quad area and then, of course, make sure that most of the swelling is down. During some of the rehab, he swelled up a little bit, so we just decided to wait. Nothing to be alarmed about." The team does not have a timetable for Bradford's return, but he's expected to return in time for next season.

He will have his knee fixed Tuesday, Nov. 5, and the procedure will be performed by Dr. James Andrews. "I'm not expecting it to be easy," Bradford said. "I know it's going to be tough, but I'm going to do everything I can to get better every day. The best thing to do is just take it day by day and try to get better every day and in the end, when I'm ready to go, I'll be ready to go." Bradford won't put a timetable on his return, but the good news is that he has a clean tear of his ACL, which he said should make his recovery quicker.

He was on crutches after the game, and more will be known on his timetable after an MRI Monday. Clemens would only be worth a look as a low-end QB2 in fantasy leagues which require two starting signal callers.

Rams | Sam Bradford starts off strong

Sun, 08 Sep 2013 19:56:34 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford completed 27 of his 38 pass attempts for 299 yards and two touchdowns with a passer rating of 100.7 in Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals. It was Bradford's eighth career game with a QB rating over 100.

Fantasy Tip: The best news of the day was that Bradford was not sacked in the game. Despite the solid stat line, he should still be treated more as a No. 2 fantasy quarterback than your primary starter.

Rams | Sam Bradford improved in red zone

Tue, 09 Jul 2013 15:54:57 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford improved dramatically in his red-zone production as 2012 went on. In the first eight games last year, he completed just 43.3 percent of his inside-the-20 attempts with four touchdowns and two interceptions, for a 62.5 passer rating. After the team reworked the club's red-zone approach, Bradford completed 67 percent of his tosses in the red zone, logging nine touchdowns and suffering just one interception, good for a rating of 101.8.

Fantasy Tip: With his new cache of weapons, Bradford's intrigue as a QB2 jumps big-time in 2013.

Rams | Tavon Austin has rapport with Sam Bradford

Fri, 05 Jul 2013 09:53:21 -0700

St. Louis Rams rookie WR Tavon Austin reportedly already has solid chemistry with QB Sam Bradford during offseason workouts. "He looked for me a lot at practice," Austin said. "He definitely believes in me and I definitely feel good about myself. He kind of talked to me, let me know the things I'm doing good, the things I'm doing bad as far as landmarks, if I should have kept the corner high or should I bend it off. I definitely believe he got a lot of trust in me and I got trust in him."

Fantasy Tip: Austin is a promising rookie wideout that will immediately become the focal point of Jeff Fisher's offense. Despite lack of size, he has the speed and quickness to beat press coverage consistently. Consider him a risky No. 2 WR that'll likely be more dependable in PPR leagues.

Rams | Sam Bradford way ahead of last year

Wed, 19 Jun 2013 15:55:54 -0700

St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said QB Sam Bradford is "a thousand years" ahead of where he was in 2012.

Fantasy Tip: It helps that Bradford finally has a second year to harness the same playbook. He's a definite sleeper candidate as a fantasy backup, but as the summer goes on, his hype could drive up his price, and the balance between upside and expense could dwindle.

Rams | Austin Pettis impressive during workouts

Sat, 15 Jun 2013 08:34:09 -0700

St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said he was very impressed with how WR Austin Pettis has performed during offseason workouts. "Quite honestly, he's probably having the best camp of all the skill players," Schottenheimer said. "He's just a tireless worker. Very competitive. ... He's having a tremendous spring." Austin has worked at split end and in the slot during workouts. He also appears to have created chemistry with QB Sam Bradford in the red zone.

Rams | New-look offense developing

Wed, 12 Jun 2013 14:56:56 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford is working with the same offensive coordinator in consecutive seasons for the first time in his career, but plenty has changed about the team's offense. With RB Steven Jackson gone, offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer will now run the O through Bradford while trying to bust more big plays. "The speed that we have acquired and what we have on the outside now -- and even the inside -- it suits us more to spread it out and play more one-back this year," Bradford said. He also thinks defenses will have to design specific coverages for some of the speed weapons, a reversal from St. Louis' more predictable offense last season.

Rookie WR Tavon Austin is lining up in the slot, on the outside and in the backfield. Schottenheimer said Austin Pettis has had the strongest offseason of any Rams wideout. TE Jared Cook and WR Brian Quick deepen the amount of players that St. Louis hopes bolsters their red-zone potency.

Fantasy Tip: This Rams offense boasts a lot of intrigue that'll come at cheap prices in fantasy drafts. Bradford's risk has a bit more of an attractive potential behind it as a fantasy backup. Austin may become overvalued eventually but would pass as a WR4 on draft day, along with Chris Givens, their biggest breakthrough player last year. Cook might be a borderline TE1 for most of the year, if not better. Pettis and Quick might be sneaky late-rounders or free-agent bids. You can't write off this offense anymore, at least not for the cost of its pieces.

Rams | Sam Bradford to hold workouts in Oklahoma

Fri, 07 Jun 2013 18:44:56 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford will ask skill position players, particularly wide receivers and tight ends, to participate in "Camp Bradford," which are informal workouts run by the quarterback at his home in Oklahoma. "Yes, I'm actually planning on that. I'm having a (youth football) camp - I believe it's the second weekend of July. So I'm planning on bringing those guys in and getting a few days of work with them, and hopefully they can stay and help out with my camp as well."

Rams | Chris Givens bulks up

Mon, 27 May 2013 22:35:47 -0700

St. Louis Rams WR Chris Givens connected with QB Sam Bradford on at least a few deep balls in practice Friday, May 24. Givens has added muscle and appears ready to handle a full season's workload.

Fantasy Tip: The added potency of new weapons - TE Jared Cook among them - may give Bradford more cred as a high-upside QB2. Givens showed big-play flashes last year and could be a WR4 in standard-scoring formats.

Rams | Offense to be more high octane

Sun, 26 May 2013 16:56:03 -0700

Rams | Sam Bradford set for leadership role

Fri, 22 Mar 2013 19:26:50 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford is expected to take more of a leadership role on offense in 2013, especially with RB Steven Jackson (Falcons) having moved on during the offseason. "You now we saw it was coming (last season)," head coach Jeff Fisher said. "Sam really took things over the second half of the season. We've got guys who can stand up and take charge and carry the torch. I'm not concerned about that. Sam, I was very impressed with how he handled things."

Rams | Coach says other players affected Sam Bradford's play

Mon, 18 Feb 2013 12:14:31 -0800

St. Louis Rams head coach Jeff Fisher indicated the play of QB Sam Bradford was negatively affected by some of the other players on offense this season but is happy with Bradford performed in 2012. "His play was directly affected by the people around him. There's times when it's difficult to step up in the pocket and make the good throw. That's not the quarterback's fault. That's whatever's going on out front," Fisher said. "We're pleased with what Sam did. He's got an exciting future. I know he's really excited about coming back in here in April and getting started and not having to learn another offense."

Rams | Danny Amendola update

Wed, 24 Oct 2012 08:05:21 -0700

Updating a previous item, St. Louis Rams WR Danny Amendola (clavicle) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 24. QB Sam Bradford said it would be a big boost if Amendola could return for Week 8. "It would mean a lot. Obviously, I've said it before, a lot of our offense runs through Danny when he's healthy," Bradford said. "Just from the initial reports, I thought it was going to be quite a bit longer for him to get back on the field. But any time you get him back out there, I think it brought a whole spark to the whole group today, and just lifted everyone's spirits seeing him back out there."

Fantasy Tip: Owners should keep a close eye on just how much Amendola practices the rest of this week. Initial reports said his recovery time would be roughly six weeks. Nevertheless, his participation in practice, although limited, is a positive sign.

Thu, 06 Sep 2012 07:32:00 -0700

St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford said his decision to wait another year before declaring for the NFL Draft was not because he wanted to avoid playing for the Detroit Lions. "None at all," Bradford said when asked if playing in Detroit factored into his decision. "I went back to school just because I felt I wasn't ready for the NFL. At that point I had only played two seasons. I think I was still 20, 21 years old. I just felt I could really use another year in school to mature, both physically and mentally.
