Cowboys | Dez Bryant bluffing?

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 19:05:13 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant has threatened to miss games if he does not receive a long-term deal, but the Cowboys are not budging on their original offers because they believe Bryant is bluffing.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant is one of several top receivers that are looking for long-term deals, and nobody wants to be the first to sign. When all is said and done, expect Bryant to be on the field for Week 1. He should be one of the first receivers off the board in fantasy drafts.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant deal coming soon?

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 11:39:09 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant impending long-term deal may be announced after the July 4 weekend, according to Mike Fisher of CBS Dallas-Fort Worth. The comfort level in the negotiation process has supposedly increased of late. Both sides have until Wednesday, July 15, to agree on a long-term deal.

Fantasy Tip: This is certainly encouraging news since the previous reports of there being no progress in the contract talks. A holdout now seems highly unlikely. All Bryant needs to do now is sign the contract and stay healthy. He should be drafted as a top-five fantasy wide receiver with added value in point-per-reception leagues.

Cowboys | No progress in Dez Bryant talks

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 09:43:50 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant has had no progress in contract talks with the team, according to sources. The Cowboys are not budging off their offer of a long-term deal with $20 million guaranteed initially and more guarantees later. The team believes Bryant is bluffing about missing a game or two in a holdout. The team also believes Bryant has financial issues and needs the money, according to the sources.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant is a first-round pick consideration universally. It still appears his holdout won't drag out into the regular season.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant's agent meets with 'Boys

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 13:25:22 -0700

The agent for Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant met face-to-face with the team for the first time in nearly four months, per sources. Bryant hasn't yet signed his $12.823 million franchise tender, and he has a deadline of July 15 to agree to a long-term deal. After that date Bryant will need to play out the season under the tender and the two sides could discuss an extension after the season.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant's side has threatened to miss games in 2015, but the Cowboys don't believe it, as it would cost Bryant $754,000 per week. Owner Jerry Jones fully expects Bryant to be in the lineup for Week 1 against the New York Giants, and fantasy owners should be drafting as though that will be the case.

Cowboys | Owner expects Dez Bryant to play Week 1

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 15:07:51 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is expected to play Week 1 with or without a long-term contract, according to owner Jerry Jones. Jones said he knows how competitive Bryant is and how much he wants to support his teammates. Jones even believes Bryant will be with the team for training camp in late July. Bryant has until July 15 to sign a long-term deal.

Fantasy Tip: Perhaps this is a subtle message from Jones to Bryant. Bryant won't be required to show up for training camp if he still hasn't signed his franchise tender once it starts. Stay tuned to this situation leading up to the deadline and beyond.

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 10:12:21 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is expected to play in the regular season opener, according to owner Jerry Jones.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant said he is considering sitting out Week 1 if he does not receive a long-term contract, so owners should monitor the situation over the next few weeks. Bryant should be one of the top receivers drafted in fantasy leagues this season even if he does miss one game.

Cowboys | HC not worried about Dez Bryant

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 16:04:30 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant's threat to sit out of regular season games if he doesn't receive a long-term extension doesn't have head coach Jason Garrett worried. "It doesn't concern me one bit," Garrett said. "Dez loves football. He has a great passion for the game. He wants to be a great player. He wants our team to be great. He's been working every day to do that and we'll take care of the business as we go."

Fantasy Tip: Again, there have been no talks ongoing between Bryant and the team on a new extension. Bryant is not attending mandatory minicamp, but will not be fined for doing so as he has not signed his franchise tender. As long as Bryant doesn't hold out or get injured, he's a perennial WR1 in fantasy football.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant not in talks with Dallas

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 12:13:58 -0700

Updating previous reports, Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is willing to miss more than just the regular season opener if he does not receive a long-term contract extension. There are no talks between the two sides at this juncture.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant sounds serious about missing games that count if the Cowboys don't give him an extension. This situation still has a lot of time to play out either way. If Bryant plays the full season, he could finish as fantasy football's top wide receiver.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant will skip minicamp

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 13:36:13 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant will not show up for mandatory minicamp Tuesday, June 16, as he awaits a long-term deal.

Fantasy Tip: This shouldn't be a huge surprise, as Bryant has even threatened to skip the start of the regular season if he doesn't receive a new deal. While there is still plenty of time for a new deal to get done and for Bryant to end his holdout, it's not promising that he's willing to miss minicamp and has considered skipping Week 1. At this point, we'll assume he laces up, in which case he should be drafted as a high-end WR1.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant to skip Week 1?

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 12:21:01 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is considering skipping the regular season opener if he does not receive a long-term deal by July 15, according to sources. Bryant has not signed his franchise tender at this point and has until July 15 to sign a multi-year deal with the Cowboys. It is believed the team has not offered Bryant a new deal since before the 2014 season.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation since Bryant could continue his holdout for a while. The two sides likely will spend the next few weeks working on a new deal. Bryant should be one of the first receivers selected in drafts this season, and his value probably will not take a big hit if he misses one week.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant skipping workouts

Wed, 10 Jun 2015 09:14:25 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant has not participated in organized team activities lately, according to head coach Jason Garrett. Garrett said he is not sure if Bryant will report next week.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant does not need to participate in offseason workouts since he has a good understanding of the offense but is looking for a new contract. Bryant should report when training camp begins and is one of the top wide receivers in fantasy drafts this season.

Cowboys | DAL not pressed for Dez Bryant deal

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 16:12:38 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant hasn't participated in organized team activities this week, but he could show up next week, or at veteran's minicamp the week after that. Bryant did make an appearance at last week's session, in which he did some individual drills. Bryant has also occasionally visited the team's Valley Ranch training complex to chat with head coach Jason Garrett and to lift weights. Vice president Stephen Jones said Wednesday, June 3, he'd like to get a deal done, but it's not the end of the world if Bryant plays out the season under the $12.8 million franchise tag.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant is a top five wide receiver and his dynasty owners would love to see him locked into the situation that allowed him to catch 93 balls for 1,233 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. In re-draft leagues, the extra motivation of securing a new contract could only be considered a good thing for Bryant.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant present at OTAs

Thu, 28 May 2015 20:26:44 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant showed up to OTAs Thursday, May 28, and participated in individual drills but didn't do any group work.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant is posturing for a new deal, but his status for the regular season isn't in doubt. Regardless of where his contract situation stands, he should be one of the first receivers off the board and a regular starter at FantasyScore in 2015.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant missed at OTAs

Thu, 28 May 2015 15:41:19 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant has not been present for the first two days of organized team activities as he continues to wait for a long-term deal. Bryant has yet to sign the franchise tag that was placed on him this offseason. Bryant has been to the Cowboys' facility this offseason, but has stayed away from the team as he waits for a new deal. He is expected to be absent until the start of training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant should still be ready for the start of the regular season, whether he receives a new long-term deal or not, which seems unlikely at this point. Bryant is arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL and in fantasy football when he's at his best. He should be taken in the first or second round of fantasy drafts this year.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant not at OTAs

Tue, 26 May 2015 12:05:21 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant was not present for the first day of organized team activities Tuesday, May 26. The workouts are voluntary.

Fantasy Tip: This could be Bryant's way of voicing his displeasure with the organization for not signing him to a long-term deal this offseason. If he were skipping mandatory workouts this would be bigger news, but at least they're voluntary. As long as Bryant shows up for the regular season and is healthy, he's a candidate for the No. 1 overall fantasy wide receiver.

NFL | Potential 2016 free-agent WR class stout

Wed, 20 May 2015 09:28:45 -0700

The upcoming group of potential free-agent wide receivers includes four of the positions most dominant players, including Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant, Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green and Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones, according to Spotrac.com. All four players are engaging in contract discussions on some level with their current teams.

Fantasy Tip: While it looks impressive on paper, the reality of any of these guys hitting the open market seems extremely low, let alone the idea of all four of them at the same time. Nevertheless, each one has something extra to play for in 2015, which only helps their fantasy value, all things being equal. Each player makes for a fine WR1 to build a fantasy team around.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant attends offseason program

Mon, 18 May 2015 10:11:37 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is participating in the strength and conditioning program, despite being at odds with the Cowboys regarding his current contract. "I wanted to be here for my teammates," Bryant said. "In the past two years that locker room has changed. There is something special in there." If Bryant isn't given a long-term deal, he may not practice with the team until late July when training camp begins.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant will play for the Cowboys this year; it's just a matter of how much money he'll be making and for how long. When healthy, Bryant is one of the few receivers who can be considered No. 1 overall at the position. He's worth a late first-round pick or an early second-round pick in fantasy drafts.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant's contract about risk

Wed, 13 May 2015 17:03:28 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant isn't appearing likely to receive the long-term deal he wants from the Cowboys this offseason. Even if the Cowboys are able to agree on the financial terms with Bryant, the wide receiver will need to agree to some type of off-the-field structure designed to limit his risk.

Fantasy Tip: If anything, playing under the franchise tag is a positive for Bryant's fantasy value. Bryant will continue to seek a long-term contract, possibly leading to superior play on the field. Bryant will enter the 2015 season as a top-five receiver, with top three-upside.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant to return punts?

Mon, 11 May 2015 11:27:58 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant may return punts in 2015, according to executive vice president Stephen Jones. With the loss of former WR Dwayne Harris, the Cowboys are in need of a new punt returner. Jones said that WR Cole Beasley will probably be the first option, but that Bryant could also be used since he returned punts in college and has done so in his professional career.

Fantasy Tip: It would be somewhat surprising to see Bryant play a lot on special teams with how valuable he is on offense. Whoever does the returning will have added value in leagues that score returns.

Cowboys | Other WRs affecting Dez Bryant contract

Sun, 10 May 2015 20:03:29 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant's contract talks have been slowed by more than just issues between Bryant and the Cowboys, executive vice president Stephen Jones said Wednesday, May 6. "I think a lot people want to naturally assume it's a Dez Bryant-Cowboy issue," Jones said. "I think it's a bigger issue than that right now. There's three or four young receivers in this league other than Dez that are going to be looking for long term contracts."

Fantasy Tip: Players like A.J. Green, Demaryius Thomas and Julio Jones all looking for new deals, as well, and it is understandable that Bryant would want the market for young receivers to be somewhat set before he agrees on a dollar amount for his new deal. Despite the off-field distractions, there is no reason Bryant shouldn't be one of the first receivers taken in fantasy drafts.

Sun, 10 May 2015 10:40:18 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant has not been participating in offseason workouts, but offensive coordinator Scott Linehan is not worried since he believes Bryant will be ready when he does practice. Linehan said he has met with Bryant on several occasions at the team's facility.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant has not signed his franchise tender yet, so he does not have to take part in any workouts. Bryant likely will report when training camp starts and should be one of the first receivers selected in fantasy drafts next season.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant should be playing with the Cowboys this season, but his future with the team is uncertain at this time. Bryant should still be one of the top fantasy wide receivers next season and likely will be selected in one of the first few rounds of drafts.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant receives tag

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 10:54:28 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant received the franchise tag Monday, March 2. Bryant would make $12.823 million if he signs the tender offer.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant probably is not happy with receiving the franchise tag, but the team likely will try to sign him to a long-term deal. Bryant could decide to skip the offseason workouts but should be ready for the season. Bryant should be one of the top wide receivers available in fantasy drafts next season.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant tag could be temporary

Sat, 28 Feb 2015 19:05:35 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is expected to receive the franchise tag by Monday, March 2, but during the NFL Scouting Combine, team owner Jerry Jones said that he hoped the tag would serve as a "placeholder" while the two sides worked out a long-term deal.

Fantasy Tip: The bottom line for fantasy owners is that Bryant is going to be back with the Cowboys in 2015, and he should continue to be one of the best receivers in the league. He is a definite WR1 and possibly the best fantasy option at the position.

Cowboys | Cowboys intend to tag Dez Bryant

Sat, 28 Feb 2015 17:40:06 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant will receive the franchise tag by the deadline Monday, March 2, executive vice president Stephen Jones confirmed Saturday, Feb. 28. The move will guarantee Bryant roughly $13 million in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant has been one of the best receivers in the NFL over the past three years, piling up 41 touchdowns and topping 1,200 receiving yards in each season. He should remain the focal point of the Dallas passing attack in 2015 and is a strong WR1 in all formats.

Cowboys | Dallas afraid to pay Dez Bryant

Thu, 26 Feb 2015 05:53:41 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is likely to receive the franchise tag because the team is hesitant to sign him long term due to a lack of trust off the field. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport discovered via an open-records request that Bryant was involved in an "unknown disturbance" in a Walmart parking lot July 11, 2011. Upon further investigation, "it was determined that there was no offense" and "all parties were advised they were free to go." The team has known about this incident for a while. However, Bryant has had the police called to his home six different times since 2011. None of the calls resulted in any arrests.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant is clearly one of the top five receivers in football. These reports are concerning, but it's important to remember no arrests were made. He's still worth a late first-round pick in traditional drafts.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant's career in jeopardy?

Tue, 24 Feb 2015 19:30:19 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant's NFL career could be in jeopardy if a video he allegedly appears is as bad as it sounds. A source said the "incriminating video of Dallas Cowboys superstar receiver Dez Bryant is being released today or tomorrow, and is so bad it's "five times worse than the Ray Rice video and that his football career is in jeopardy." The Cowboys have claimed no such video exists.

Fantasy Tip: This is huge news for fantasy owners everywhere, if it turns out to be true, but more importantly it is huge news for the NFL. They simply cannot have another one of its stars embroiled in a nasty controversy, whatever the exact details may be. It sounds like we'll soon find out. It sounds as if the rumored video is what has been holding up negotiations with the impending free agent and the Cowboys. Remember, this is all speculation at this point.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant receives offer from Cowboys

Sat, 21 Feb 2015 11:39:07 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant has reportedly received an offer from the team, but the Cowboys have not heard back from Bryant's agent. If Bryant does not sign a long-term deal, he could very well be franchise tagged.

Fantasy Tip: It's highly unlikely that Bryant will be leaving Dallas this offseason. He remains a WR1 option and could even be considered the top fantasy football wideout in 2015. Stay tuned to this situation as free agency approaches.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant a candidate for tag

Fri, 20 Feb 2015 16:25:34 -0800

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent WR Dez Bryant remains a candidate for the franchise tag if the team can't work out a long-term extension with him. The Cowboys still have concerns about Bryant's off-the-field issues.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant will be returning to Dallas next year, it's just unknown if it'll be on a one-year franchise tag or a long-term commitment. Regardless, he's proven to be one of the most dominant wideouts in the game, and he should be ranked as the top wideout in PPR leagues.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant would be unhappy with tag

Tue, 17 Feb 2015 18:07:24 -0800

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant would get $13 million instead of $30-40 million guaranteed money if he is slapped with the franchise tag. According to sources, he would likely not participate in the team's offseason program if he is franchised.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant might be unhappy for a bit, but he will get over it and will be one of the top fantasy receivers in the game in 2015. Plus, if he is tagged he will be playing for an even bigger payday after the season, so expect the best.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant to get franchise tag?

Tue, 17 Feb 2015 11:13:39 -0800

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent WR Dez Bryant could be franchise tagged, according to executive vice president Stephen Jones. "Right now all things being equal, it's leaning more [towards] Dez with the franchise [tag] than it is not," Jones said. "But that doesn't mean it will stay that way." Jones was also uncertain about having a meeting with Bryant's agent during the NFL Scouting Combine, another indication that Bryant could be getting the franchise tag.

Fantasy Tip: It's hard to believe Bryant won't be in a Cowboys uniform next season. He's a perennial top-tier wide receiver in fantasy football, averaging 91 catches, 1,311 yards and 13.6 touchdowns over the past three years, including a career-high 16 touchdowns in 2014.

Cowboys | Dallas decision coming on Dez Bryant

Sun, 08 Feb 2015 17:09:03 -0800

The Dallas Cowboys will either re-sign impending WR Dez Bryant to a long-term deal with a hefty guarantee by March 2 or protect his rights by slapping him with the franchise tag. If he is tagged, the projection would be a one-year, $12.8 guaranteed salary. He and the team could then negotiation a long-term deal for the next several months.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain which avenue the Cowboys will take, but one thing is clear - Dez isn't going anywhere in 2015. He will once again be a high-impact fantasy option in 2015, among the Top 5 at his position.

Wed, 14 Jan 2015 13:58:56 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant reportedly woke up with back spasms prior to the team's loss to the Green Bay Packers last weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant turned in another tremendous season in 2014 and remains a top-tier wide receiver in all fantasy formats going into 2015. His value could take a mild hit if DeMarco Murray leaves, but Bryant is still an elite option at the position.

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant appears to be the more likely candidate to receive the franchise tag than RB DeMarco Murray. Both Bryant and Murray will be free agents after the season. Owner/general manager Jerry Jones had a brief meeting with Bryant's new agents, but no deal is close at this time.

Cowboys | Have made offers to Dez Bryant

Tue, 11 Nov 2014 19:49:46 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is in the final year of his rookie contract. Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has expressed an interest in having Bryant finish his career with the team, and chief operating officer Stephen Jones said Tuesday, Nov. 11, that the team has made offers. "We've offered him some really nice contracts," Stephen Jones said. "We also have to respect his views on where it is. My take on those things is that they ultimately find a way."

Fantasy Tip: The contract situation does not seem to be having much of an effect on Bryant's on-field production, as he has been very good, at least when Tony Romo is healthy and under center. FantasyScore owners have enjoyed big stat lines from Bryant more often than not.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant needed IV fluids

Sun, 09 Nov 2014 16:23:22 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (cramps) left the Week 10 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars for intravenous fluids in the third quarter due to hydration issues. Despite leaving part of the game, he managed to haul in touchdowns of 35 and 68 yards in the second quarter, finishing with the second-most receiving yards of his career with 158.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant had managed just five receptions for 45 yards in the past two games, so fantasy owners were certainly pleased to see Bryant return to his stud-like form. It also helps to have Tony Romo back under center for an entire game and healthy again.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant struggles without Romo

Mon, 03 Nov 2014 10:21:02 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant had a tough day against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9, but he salvaged his day with a three-yard touchdown catch late in the game. QB Brandon Weeden struggled mightily in place of QB Tony Romo (back), and the chemistry between Bryant and Weeden was lacking. The first eight passes thrown to Bryant hit the turf, and several others were poor passes. "It takes time," said Weeden, who completed 18 of 33 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions, padding his numbers during the meaningless late touchdown drive. "I didn't play with him at all in the preseason. I played a few plays with him the other night. It takes time." Fantasy Tip: Romo could be back in Week 10 for the team's London game. If that's the case, you should feel much more comfortable running with Bryant in your FantasyScore lineups.

Fantasy Tip: Romo could return in Week 10 for the team's London affair. If that's the case, you should feel much more comfortable starting Bryant in your FantasyScore lineups.
