Reds | Zack Cozart not playing Sunday

Sun, 24 May 2015 08:08:18 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SS Zack Cozart is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 24. INF Kris Negron will be the starting shortstop for the Reds.

Fantasy Tip: Cozart ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is receiving a day off after starting in the last several games. Negron ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has not been very successful in his limited playing time this season and should not be used on FantasyScore.

Reds | Brandon Phillips hitting leadoff Friday

Fri, 22 May 2015 11:56:46 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips is hitting leadoff against Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco Friday, May 22. SS Zack Cozart drops down a spot into the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Phillips ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is hitting .368 (21-for-57) with a home run and eight RBI in the month of May and hasn't had trouble hitting righties this year (.304/.349/.373) with both of his home runs. Carrasco has good stuff but has allowed right-handers to hit .310 (31-for-100) with two home runs off him this year. Phillips isn't a bad bet at FantasyScore while he's swinging a hot stick, and a move to the top of the lineup could maximize his value.

Reds | Zack Cozart leading off

Sat, 16 May 2015 13:26:13 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SS Zack Cozart is hitting leadoff Saturday, May 16, with OF Billy Hamilton taking the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Cozart ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has hit well all season and is hitting .381-1-5 in the last seven days. He's a good midrange option on FantasyScore.

Reds | Zack Cozart solid in return

Wed, 13 May 2015 21:34:12 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SS Zack Cozart (wrist) returned to the lineup Wednesday, May 13, against the Atlanta Braves after missing two games due to a sore left wrist. He finished 1-for-3 with a double, run scored and RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Give Cozart ($4,200; or 8.4% of cap) at least one more game to prove his health before trusting him in FantasyScore again.

Reds | Zack Cozart returning Wednesday

Wed, 13 May 2015 13:31:05 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SS Zack Cozart (wrist) is back in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 13, hitting second against Atlanta Braves SP Eric Stults.

Fantasy Tip: Cozart ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has been bothered by a nagging wrist condition lately. However, it hasn't really affected him at the plate in May, as he's 10-for-24 (.476) with a home run and five RBI. He's also hitting .370 (10-for-27) with two of his five home runs against left-handed pitchers, so he could be a very nice under-the-radar play at FantasyScore tonight.

Tue, 12 May 2015 22:37:38 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SS Zack Cozart (wrist) was out of the lineup for the fifth time in eight games Tuesday, May 12, against the Atlanta Braves. He is dealing with a sore left wrist.

Fantasy Tip: Avoid Cozart ($4,200; or 8.4% of cap) in FantasyScore until he can officially return to the starting lineup and play in back-to-back games without any setbacks.

Reds | Zack Cozart still sitting

Tue, 12 May 2015 11:51:30 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SS Zack Cozart (wrist) remains out of the lineup Tuesday, May 12. OF Kris Negron is starting at the 6 again and hitting seventh in the batting order against Atlanta Braves SP Mike Foltynewicz.

Fantasy Tip: Negron ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting a measley .103 (4-for-39) with eight strikeouts in limited duty as a backup this year. You can avoid him everywhere.

Reds | Zack Cozart scratched late

Mon, 11 May 2015 16:10:02 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SS Zack Cozart (undisclosed) was a late scratch against the Atlanta Braves Monday, May 11. OF Kris Negron is starting at shortstop and batting seventh Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Cozart from all fantasy lineups Monday. Also, check back for updates on the nature of his late removal from the lineup. Negron ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should be viewed as nothing more than a low-priced flier for FantasyScore players, and while he is starting at shortstop Monday, he likely isn't the long-term answer, if Cozart were to miss any time.

Reds | Zack Cozart produces in return

Sat, 09 May 2015 18:02:00 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SS Zack Cozart (wrist) returned from a three-game absence and went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI, two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base in a 10-4 win over the Chicago White Sox Saturday, May 9.

Fantasy Tip: Cozart ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) picked up where he left off, and he continues to be one of the better offensive shortstops this season. Feel free to use him at FantasyScore going forward.

Reds | Zack Cozart retuning vs. Pale Hose

Fri, 08 May 2015 15:12:53 -0700

Cincinnati Reds SS Zack Cozart (wrist) is back in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Hector Noesi Friday, May 8. Cozart is hitting seventh in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Cozart ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is back but returns to the bottom part of the order with Marlon Byrd heating up since a move to the two-hole. That'll inhibit Cozart from reaching the height of his potential at FantasyScore, and you'll probably want to avoid him in his first game back from injury, even though Noesi has been roughed up often this year.
