Lions | Golden Tate making consistent impact

Tue, 21 Oct 2014 20:28:09 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate is one of just two receivers to have at least five receptions in each of the first seven games of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Tate has also topped 100 yards in three of the last four weeks, and although Calvin Johnson's absence in recent weeks has boosted his production, Tate has been steady force in the Detroit passing attack all year. Regardless of whether or not Johnson suits up in Week 8, Tate ($6,900, 13.8% of cap) is worth starting at FantasyScore against an atrocious Atlanta defense.

Jets | Percy Harvin involved in multiple fights

Sat, 18 Oct 2014 14:02:02 -0700

New York Jets WR Percy Harvin was involved in a fight with former teammate, Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate, last year during the week of the Super Bowl. Harvin also was involved in an altercation with Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin during the final week of the preseason.

Lions | Calvin Johnson misses another practice

Fri, 17 Oct 2014 09:12:34 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) didn't practice for the sixth straight day Friday, Oct. 17. Head coach Jim Caldwell isn't ruling him out for Week 7 against the New Orleans Saints, but he also didn't make it sound like Johnson would play, either. Johnson said earlier this week that he sees no reason to rush back to the field until he's completely healthy. The team will lean heavily on WRs Golden Tate, Corey Fuller and Jeremy Ross, along with RBs Joique Bell and Reggie Bush if Johnson doesn't play again.

Fantasy Tip: It's highly unlikely that we see Megatron play against the Saints. Avoid him everywhere. Tate's price ($6,300; 12.6% of cap) has gone up with Johnson hobbled, but he could still return a profit against a weak New Orleans defense.

Lions | Calvin Johnson out today

Sun, 12 Oct 2014 08:28:27 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) will not play Sunday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Golden Tate ($5,900; 11.8% of your cap) becomes a bit of a risk on FantasyScore this weekend without Megatron to keep defenses honest.

Lions | Calvin Johnson may miss time

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 07:57:17 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) could miss a week or two after he aggravated his ankle injury in Week 5 Sunday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Golden Tate may have it a little rough for a couple of weeks as defenses will likely shift their focus to him. Keep an eye on Megatron's status, but he clearly isn't a good option on FantasyScore right now until he's healthy.

Lions | Golden Tate listed as probable

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 13:24:09 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (hamstring) was limited in practice for the second straight day Friday, Oct. 3, and is probable for Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Tate will play in this game. With Calvin Johnson (ankle) a questionable, Tate could once again put up big numbers this weekend. He's cheap at FantasyScore, too, making it more intriguing.

Lions | Golden Tate expected to play

Fri, 03 Oct 2014 07:54:40 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (hamstring) is expected to play in Week 5, according to head coach Jim Caldwell.

Fantasy Tip: Tate ($5,500; 11% of your cap) might be limited and is a risky flex option on FantasyScore this week.

Lions | Golden Tate on injury report

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 14:34:47 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate (hamstring) was listed as a limited participant on the practice report Thursday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear how serious Tate's injury is, so keep an eye on his status tomorrow. Tate had his best game of the year last week (eight catches for 116 yards) with Calvin Johnson limited. That may be the case again versus the Buffalo Bills in Week 5, making Tate intriguing once again at FantasyScore, assuming he's healthy.

Lions | Calvin Johnson excited to face Jets

Wed, 24 Sep 2014 13:07:41 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Calvin Johnson is licking his chops as he prepares to face the New York Jets in Week 4. "Single coverage high" is the scheme that New York used often against the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears, and it led to big games for those teams' receivers. The Jets have been thin at cornerback due to injuries early this year. Johnson is fourth in the league in receiving yards (329) this year, and he has five catches and two touchdowns of 20 yards or more. If the Jets decide to double team Johnson, WR Golden Tate, who has 16 catches for 201 yards, could benefit. Johnson expects the Jets to play him man to man, because they love to blitz.

Fantasy Tip: Megatron is the most expensive receiver at FantasyScore this week ($8,900; 17.8% of cap), but he may still be a valuable option against the Jets, especially after a down week in Week 3.

Lions | Golden Tate expects big year

Tue, 26 Aug 2014 19:59:38 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Golden Tate said he believes his numbers can go up this year despite moving from the top option in Seattle to the No. 2 option in Detroit. "I think my numbers can be way better in this offense naturally how it's set up," Tate said. "I was coming from, you gotta think I was in the toughest division with the 49ers, Rams and Cardinals, defensively, with a run-heavy offense and now I'm going to a pass-happy offense where I'm on the same team as the best player in the league, one of the best players in the league who is going to draw a lot of attention, a lot of double coverage, which is going to leave me with a lot of single coverage with a lot of No. 2 and No. 3 cornerbacks."

Fantasy Tip: Tate spelled out the reasons why fantasy owners should be intrigued about his potential this year. The Lions have been looking for a reliable complement for Calvin Johnson for years, and Tate should fil the void. A career year seems inevitable, and fantasy owners should feel comfortable drafting him as a WR3.
