Saints | Mark Ingram wants ball more

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 11:38:50 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram said he wants an increased workload, and he could get it coming off his new deal. He just signed a four-year, $16 million deal to come back to New Orleans.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints want to win now with QB Drew Brees nearing the end of his career. Ingram is a formidable running back when healthy, though Khiry Robinson will cut into his playing time. Still, he has RB2 potential in that offense.

Saints | Mark Ingram re-signs with Saints

Sat, 07 Mar 2015 18:10:31 -0800

Free-agent RB Mark Ingram has agreed on a four-year, $16 million deal to return to the New Orleans Saints Saturday, March 7.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram is coming off the best season of his career, finishing with 964 yards and nine touchdowns. He should be the early-down and goal-line back in New Orleans again in 2015, but in the Saints pass-heavy offense, he is unlikely to be more than a mid-range RB2.

Eagles | Philly interested in Mark Ingram?

Wed, 04 Mar 2015 16:49:47 -0800

New Orleans Saints impending free-agent RB Mark Ingram has been rumored to be of interest to the Philadelphia Eagles, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram in Chip Kelly's up-tempo, dynamic offense might be heaven for fantasy football owners, even if he's sharing some time with Darren Sproles and Chris Polk. Ingram showed us in 2014 that he has what it takes to be an RB1, and he could take it to the next level if he's playing for the Eagles.

Saints | Three RBs on Saints' roster

Wed, 04 Mar 2015 16:29:11 -0800

Updating a previous report, free-agent RB Pierre Thomas' (Saints) release by the New Orleans Saints Wednesday, March 4, will save $1.735 million against the salary cap, and he carries an $830,000 "dead money" charge. Thomas would have counted $2.565 million against the salary cap this year. The Saints currently have three running backs on roster: RBs Khiry Robinson, Edwin Baker and Tim Hightower. RBs Travaris Cadet and Mark Ingram are both scheduled to be free agents.

Fantasy Tip: The release of PT cruiser isn't unexpected, since his role had quickly diminished over the last couple of seasons. If Ingram isn't re-signed, Robinson will have a clear path to the lead-back duties in New Orleans. And in an offense as potent as this, that'll make him very intriguing to fantasy football owners. Robinson could head into 2015 as a low-end RB1.

Saints | Sean Payton wants Mark Ingram back

Thu, 19 Feb 2015 17:00:50 -0800

New Orleans Saints impending free-agent RB Mark Ingram is coveted by head coach Sean Payton, and Payton is hoping the team can find a way to re-sign him. "Hopefully he's someone that's back in the black and gold. Because he's been a big part of our success offensively," Payton said of Ingram, who finally had a breakout year in his fourth NFL season, running for 964 yards and nine touchdowns and earning his first Pro Bowl invite as an alternate.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints will have to get creative with their salary cap in order to bring back Ingram. At first glance, our guess would be that Ingram moves on and Khiry Robinson becomes the Saints' feature back in 2015. If that's the case, Robinson will be an intriguing RB3 with upside for more in this potent offense.

Saints | Mark Ingram's status depends on cap

Wed, 18 Feb 2015 13:01:03 -0800

New Orleans Saints impending free-agent RB Mark Ingram's future with the team depends on Ingram's market value in free agency and the team's lack of salary-cap flexibility, according to general manager Mickey Loomis. Loomis didn't rule out re-signing Ingram if the two sides can agree on his value before March 10. Ingram rushed for a career-high 964 yards last season and will be one of the top free-agent running backs on the market.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints' first priority is getting under the salary cap before free agency starts, so it looks increasingly likely that Ingram will be on the open market. He'll be a welcome addition to any team, but his fantasy value is to be determined until his future is clearer. If he departs New Orleans, Khiry Robinson will be a hot target in fantasy drafts as an RB2.

Saints | Mark Ingram wants to return to Saints

Thu, 22 Jan 2015 15:37:31 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram, who will be eligible for free agency this offseason, wants to return to the team next year, and he thinks the interest is mutual. Ingram ran for 964 yards on 226 attempts and nine touchdowns last year, which were all career highs. His 74.2 yards per game ranked him eighth in the league.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints said late last season that they were prepared to let Ingram test the free-agent waters, so we'll have to wait and see what happens. If he doesn't return, Khiry Robinson could be in line for some nice fantasy success in New Orleans. If Ingram returns, he should be expected to remain the lead back in a backfield that would remain crowded.

Saints | Mark Ingram expected to play

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 14:08:37 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (ankle, toe) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is listed as probable for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram had a terrific performance in Week 13 and should continue to receive most of the carries in the running game. He will be playing a Carolina Panthers run defense that has improved some over the last few weeks but still has had problems with running backs during the season. Ingram costs $6,800 on FantasyScore and could be an attractive option for owners.

Saints | New Orleans RBs practice

Thu, 04 Dec 2014 15:07:18 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (ankle, toe) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 4. RBs Khiry Robinson (forearm) and Travaris Cadet (hamstring) participated fully.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram ($6,800, 13.6%) should still get the majority of work out of the backfield with Pierre Thomas ($5,500, 11%) and Cadet likely being used mostly on passing downs. Robinson's usage may be limited after his prolonged absence, so it's best to stay away from him this week. Ingram and Thomas are the best bets for success against a subpar Carolina Panthers run defense.

Saints | Mark Ingram limited

Wed, 03 Dec 2014 14:20:05 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (ankle, toe) was limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram will likely see most of the snaps in Week 14 if he is able to go, even with Khiry Robinson getting eased back in this week. Ingram will cost $6,800 this week in FantasyScore, but there could be some risk there with both the injury and Robinson back in the picture in some capacity.
