Saints | Mark Ingram to report to minicamp

Thu, 24 May 2018 10:40:03 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram is expected to report to the mandatory three-day minicamp in June despite being suspended for the first four games of the regular season, according to head coach Sean Payton.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram has plenty of time to stay in shape and stay on fresh on the Saints' playbook. Alvin Kamara will handle the majority of backfield duties until his return and merits top-five PPR consideration at his position. The suspension and the presence of Kamara give Ingram low-end RB2 to high-end RB3 value.

Saints | Alvin Kamara won't be overworked

Sat, 12 May 2018 19:42:26 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara won't be overworked during RB Mark Ingram's suspension, according to head coach Sean Payton. "By all means, we don't want to sit there and run the tread off the back with him early in the season because this thing it's a marathon, 16 games," Payton said.

Fantasy Tip: Considering Kamara has already shown he can be a RB1 while splitting carries with Ingram, it's probably better for his long-term value that the Saints don't run him into the ground. He's a PPR juggernaut and a RB1 in all formats.

Saints | Mark Ingram's appeal denied

Wed, 09 May 2018 09:54:56 -0700

Updating an earlier report, New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram's appeal of his four-game suspension has been heard and denied by the league, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Ingram will be out the first four weeks. He'll be available to play in Week 5, but their bye is in Week 6. So you're looking at replacing him for five of the first six weeks of the season. Ingram is an RB3, and Alvin Kamara is an elite RB1 in fantasy.

Saints | Mark Ingram appealing

Wed, 09 May 2018 07:56:40 -0700

Updating previous reports, New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram is appealing his four-game suspension. David Jones, of VIP Sports Management, says the substance that Ingram failed a drug test is "permissible with the proper use exemption," noting it was neither performance enhancing nor illegal. According to the NFLPA, players can take banned substances as long as they have an application for a therapeutic use exemption filled out by a physician and submitted to an independent administrator. It's unclear, though, if Ingram had the exemption.

Fantasy Tip: This will be a storyline to follow throughout OTAs and training camp. Ingram falls to a high-end RB3 if he misses four games but could return to RB2 status otherwise.

Saints | Mark Ingram suspended

Tue, 08 May 2018 13:11:29 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram has been suspended for the first four games of the 2018 season for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drugs policy.

Fantasy Tip: It's bad news for the Saints and Ingram owners, but good news for Alvin Kamara owners. Kamara will now be featured for the first four games of the season, while someone like Boston Scott could be an under the radar DFS play. Ingram, meanwhile, goes from a fringe RB1 to an RB2.

Saints | Mark Ingram totals just 28 yards

Sun, 14 Jan 2018 17:32:57 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram ran 10 times for just 25 yards in the NFC Divisional Round playoff game loss against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Jan. 14, and he added one grab for three yards on his only target.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram went out with a whimper in the team's stunning playoff loss. He had a nice season, but he had to share the load with Alvin Kamara, who quickly emerged as a star in the New Orleans backfield. As such, Ingram's fantasy outlook is a little bit murky going into 2018, as he is likely to split carries at best, and could be a reserve at worst.

Saints | Mark Ingram totals 35 yards in win

Sun, 07 Jan 2018 17:42:58 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed nine times for just 22 yards in the NFC Wild Card Game against the Carolina Panthers while adding one grab for 13 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram had success this season in the run game, but the Panthers were determined to stop both he and Alvin Kamara from having big game. He'll look to get on track against the Minnesota Vikings in another tough matchup in the NFC Divisional Round next weekend.

Saints | Mark Ingram misses out clause

Fri, 05 Jan 2018 18:34:58 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram had a career-high 1,540 yards from scrimmage this season and would have become a free agent had he been named a first-team All-Pro selection. His contract now expires in 2019.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram and teammate Alvin Kamara became a dynamic duo for fantasy owners this season, and both backs will warrant RB1 consideration next year. In the meantime, Ingram should be a strong DFS play against the Carolina Panthers in this weekend's playoff matchup. In two meetings with the Panthers in the regular season, Ingram logged a combined 208 total yards and a score.

Saints | Mark Ingram, Alvin Kamara make NFL history

Mon, 01 Jan 2018 21:18:47 -0800

New Orleans Saints RBs Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara became the first running back duo in NFL history to each have at least 1,500 yards from scrimmage in the same season.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram finished fifth in the NFL in rushing this season with 1,124 yards, while Kamara registered 728 yards on the ground, but on just 120 rush attempts, giving him the highest yards-per-carry mark (6.1) in the league out of all qualified running backs. He also led all players at his position with 826 receiving yards. They should remain upper echelon options in fantasy throughout the postseason.

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed 13 times for 44 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 22 yards in a 23-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: It wasn't his strongest rushing performance, but Ingram still managed a useful final line. Expect RB1 numbers from Ingram in the season finale against a porous Tampa Bay defense.

Sun, 17 Dec 2017 18:10:22 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed 12 times for 74 yards and two touchdowns in Week 15 against the New York Jets and he added five receptions for 77 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram had a couple of huge plays for his fantasy owners, including a late 50-yard rushing touchdown to cap off the scoring. He remains more of a low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option in most formats since he is sharing the workload with Alvin Kamara these days.

Saints | Mark Ingram tallies 92 yards

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 20:43:42 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram ran 12 times for 49 yards and caught four passes for 43 yards in a 20-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons Thursday, Dec. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Considering Alvin Kamara left the game in the first quarter, Ingram's final line was actually a little disappointing. Regardless of Kamara's status going forward, Ingram should be in the RB1 conversation against the New York Jets in Week 15.

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 16:27:15 -0800

Thu, 07 Dec 2017 05:06:12 -0800

Updating previous reports, New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (toe) is expected to play Thursday, Dec. 7, against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: It's not a great matchup, but if you have Ingram, you're playing him as a high-end RB2.

Saints | Mark Ingram listed as questionable

Wed, 06 Dec 2017 12:51:16 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (toe) did not practice for second straight day Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram missed practice twice after being limited earlier in the week. The Saints play tomorrow night so it seems that Ingram will be hard pressed to be healthy enough to play in time. If he can't play then Alvin Kamara will take over as the No. 1 running back, but we were already starting him as a top-tier RB1.

Saints | No practice for Mark Ingram

Tue, 05 Dec 2017 14:12:17 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (toe) was not able to practice Tuesday, Dec. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram was limited yesterday, so the downgrade is concerning, especially on a short week. Needless to say, Alvin Kamara is capable of handling the backfield as a featured back, but check up on Ingram's status over the next two days to see if he improves.

Saints | Mark Ingram limited Monday

Mon, 04 Dec 2017 16:21:06 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (toe) was limited during practice Monday, Dec. 4. The Saints did not hold a practice Monday, so this is an estimation.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to monitor the situation to see if Ingram is in any danger of missing Week 14. He has been playing very well this season and should be a No. 1 or No. 2 running back in all leagues as long as he is active.

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed 14 times for 85 yards and a touchdown and caught six passes for 37 yards in a 31-21 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Games like this are becoming the norm for Ingram, and he is locked and loaded as a RB1 in all formats.

Saints | Mark Ingram slowed in Week 12

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 20:25:30 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram ran 11 times for 31 yards and caught two passes for five yards in a 26-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram was bottled up early, and Alvin Kamara saw a lot of action in the second half with the Saints trying to catch up. A tough matchup with the Carolina Panthers is on tap in Week 13, but Ingram should still be considered a RB2.

Saints | Mark Ingram may be FA this offseason

Sun, 26 Nov 2017 07:08:25 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram can void the final year of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent this offseason if he is named a first-team All-Pro by the Associated Press after the season.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram has been playing very well this season and is coming off back-to-back 100-yard performances. He also has eight rushing touchdowns in the last six seasons. Ingram should be considered a No. 1 running back against most opponents.

Saints | Mark Ingram runs wild

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 18:59:32 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed 11 times for 134 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 21 yards in a 34-31 win over the Washington Redskins in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram continued his tear, and he has now delivered at least 75 rushing yards in five straight games, scoring eight total touchdowns in that span. Treat him as a RB1 going forward.

Saints | New Orleans running backs tearing it up

Tue, 14 Nov 2017 19:19:38 -0800

New Orleans RBs Mark Ingram (569) and Alvin Kamara (560) rank second and third, respectively, in the league in yards from scrimmage in the five games since Adrian Peterson was traded to the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Furthermore, Ingram's 502 rushing yards ranks first in the league, while his seven rushing touchdowns over the last five weeks are more than two times as many as any other back in the NFL not named Ezekiel Elliott (five). Kamara (three) is tied with the likes of Todd Gurley for third place. Over that same time, the rookie trails only Chris Thompson for the most receiving yards by a running back (226).

Saints | Mark Ingram runs over Buffalo

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 16:18:06 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed 21 times for 131 yards and three touchdowns in Week 10 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: For fantasy owners worried about Alvin Kamara's emergence last week, relax. Ingram is still the bellcow in New Orleans and he proved he remains a No. 1 fantasy option. The Saints host the Redskins in Week 11.

Saints | Mark Ingram runs for 77 yards in win

Sun, 05 Nov 2017 17:05:03 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed 16 times for a game-high 77 yards while adding one grab for two yards on his only target in Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram's day wasn't terrible, but he took a backseat to Alvin Kamara who was all over the field. He ran for 68 yards with a touchdown while adding six catches, 84 yards and a score. Despite the fact Kamara shined more than Ingram, the veteran from Alabama remains a must-start fantasy option going forward.

Saints | Mark Ingram expected to bounce back

Wed, 01 Nov 2017 10:43:10 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram committed two fourth-quarter fumbles in Week 8 against the Chicago Bears - one more than he registered over the first six games of the season - but head coach Sean Payton expects him to rebound. "I'm sure he'll respond. I know he was disappointed and upset. I was upset. … You're carrying the ball and you're carrying the team's hopes and dreams," Payton said.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram was benched after losing fumbles in back-to-back weeks near the midpoint of last season, but Payton went right back to him the following week and he erupted for 171 total yards and two touchdowns against the San Francisco 49ers. The difference this year is how highly Payton thinks of Alvin Kamara, although Ingram has remained the lead back in New Orleans for a reason. Expect him to have another big day in Week 9 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 14:44:09 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed for 75 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries against the Chicago Bears in Week 8 but also lost two fumbles during the game. Ingram also caught six passes for 24 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram has recorded four rushing touchdowns in his last three games and has received at least 14 carries in each of his last five games. He can be considered a No. 2 running back in all leagues but will need to hold onto the ball.

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed for 105 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries against the Green Bay Packers in Week 7. He also caught four passes for five yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram has rushed for at least 100 yards in each of the last two games and has recorded three touchdowns during that span. He will continue to receive a significant amount of carries and can be a No. 2 fantasy running back next week.

Saints | Mark Ingram finishes with big game

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 18:01:49 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed 25 times for 114 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 6 game against the Detroit Lions and he added five receptions for 36 yards on five targets.

Fantasy Tip: It's like a cloud was removed from Ingram's head when Adrian Peterson was shipped to Arizona. While Peterson wasn't cutting into Ingram's time, perhaps he was not performing or was uncomfortable looking over his shoulder at the future Hall of Famer. It was smooth sailing in Week 6, and fantasy owners hope that continues in Week 7 in Green Bay and beyond.

Saints | Mark Ingram rushes for 45 yards

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 10:06:08 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed for 45 yards on 14 carries against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4. He also caught four passes for 17 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram has been receiving a majority of the carries during games but is sharing time with Alvin Kamara. He will be off next week but could be a flex option against the Detroit Lions in Week 6 since he will be involved in the run and pass game.

Saints | Mark Ingram totals 16 touches in win

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 13:40:03 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed 14 times for 56 yards in Week 3 at Carolina and he added two receptions for 30 yards on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram continues to lead the way in backfield touches, totaling 16, while Adrian Peterson had 11 total touches and rookie Alvin Kamara managed five. As long as Ingram continues to lead the team in touches he is the top fantasy option, but Kamara might have the most upside of the triumvirate for the long term.

Saints | Mark Ingram totals 12 touches

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 18:58:59 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed eight times for 52 yards in Week 2 against the Patriots while adding four receptions for 24 yards on five targets.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram continues to remain at the top of the New Orleans running back totem pole, as he had 12 total touches to eight for Adrian Peterson and four for Alvin Kamara. Nothing is expected to change heading into Week 3 in Carolina.

Saints | Mark Ingram salvages Week 1 outing

Mon, 11 Sep 2017 20:34:50 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram didn't contribute much on the ground in the club's Week 1 game Monday, Sept. 11, against the Minnesota Vikings, rushing for just 17 yards on six carries, but he also managed to haul in all five of his targets for 54 receiving yards.

Fantasy Tip: Most interestingly, Ingram actually played less snaps (26) than rookie Alvin Kamara (31), but at least the former Heisman Trophy winner was able to give his fantasy owners something in the season opener. Based on how he was used, though, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him trend down towards RB3 territory. However, he still may be useful his next time out when the Saints partake in a likely high-scoring affair opposite the Patriots.

Saints | Mark Ingram a fixture in passing game

Wed, 02 Aug 2017 10:45:17 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram has been very active in the passing game throughout training camp, according to ESPN's Mike Triplett.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram's role in the Saints' backfield has been in question ever since the team signed Adrian Peterson, but it really shouldn't change all that much. Alvin Kamara was drafted with an eye on turning him into a satellite back in the Darren Sproles/Reggie Bush mode, while Peterson gives the team a physical edge it hasn't had in a while. Ingram's role shouldn't change much, making him a high-upside - albeit likely inconsistent - RB2 in 2017.

Saints | Mark Ingram perfect as a red zone receiver

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 19:35:38 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram hauled in all 10 of his targets inside the 20 last season, making him only one of five players with at least five such targets to catch every one.

Fantasy Tip: Adrian Peterson has made a lot of noise recently about proving himself as a receiver, but Ingram and rookie Alvin Kamara are better equipped to handle that work. With that said, at least 22 percent of the Saints' targets have been directed at the running back position over the last 10 seasons, and the average during the span is 26 percent. In short, there should be plenty of opportunities for all three backs to get their fill of catches. Ingram should be considered a high-upside RB3.

Saints | Mark Ingram learning from Adrian Peterson

Fri, 16 Jun 2017 08:50:05 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram said he is competing with RB Adrian Peterson but is also learning from him. Ingram noted that he and Peterson recently discussed how to balance patience, vision, decisiveness and aggression when trying to get first-down yardage on third and short. Ingram said putting his head down and barreling forward toward the first sign of an opening has been his inclination, but sometimes a choice he regretted because, "If you would have followed your read and followed the guard outside, you would have had a 30-yard run." Ingram recalled Peterson telling him, "I've noticed that in that time you just have to slow down and trust your eyes."

Fantasy Tip: Ingram will still be a factor, but his touches will be affected by Peterson's arrival. Ingram has been a better receiver of late, though, and that could give him the nod on third downs. Ingram is a high-end RB3, but if the team's approach shifts more to the running game, he could sneak into the RB2 area.

Saints | Saints using 'three-headed monster' at RB?

Mon, 01 May 2017 19:30:44 -0700

The New Orleans Saints' plan for the upcoming season is "likely to recreate their 2009 and 2011 potent backfield attack" when they implemented a "three-headed monster" at running back. This came to fruition when they drafted RB Alvin Kamara, who is a "prototypical third-down back" to complement RBs Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson. Kamara could be in line to play a "Reggie Bush/Darren Sproles-type role."

Fantasy Tip: This could be a frustrating storyline for those who end up drafting Mark Ingram, seeing as he's proven he can be a productive workhorse back when he is healthy. At the same time, this development also indicates Peterson could turn out to be an excellent value pick if he's getting a good amount of work around the goal line. As for Kamara, owners might want to take a wait-and-see approach with the third-round pick.

Saints | Travaris Cadet to see reduced role?

Sun, 30 Apr 2017 19:27:02 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Travaris Cadet will compete with RB Alvin Kamara for the third-down back role while RB Adrian Peterson and RB Mark Ingram serve as the traditional backs, according to beat writer Nick Underhill.

Fantasy Tip: After the Saints traded up for Kamara, he is going to be given a chance to show what he can do. Cadet's value was already limited to deeper PPR formats, and the addition of Kamara likely makes him a non-factor for fantasy purposes.

Saints | Mark Ingram fine with Peterson addition

Wed, 26 Apr 2017 11:49:55 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram said he is fine with the team's signing of RB Adrian Peterson if his addition helps the team win. Ingram said he expected the team would add another running back and is not concerned about sharing playing time with Peterson.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram probably will be the starting running back for the Saints but likely will see less carries than he did in the past. He should still have a role in the passing game in 2017 and could be a No. 2 or No. 3 running back in fantasy leagues.

Saints | Mark Ingram will be the starter

Mon, 24 Apr 2017 13:56:44 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram would still be the lead running back even if free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Vikings) signed with the Saints, according to The New Orleans Advocate's Nick Underhill.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram's stock would take a hit, but he will remain the Saints' most appealing fantasy running back if the Peterson signing does come to fruition. As stated earlier, Ingram and Peterson should be viewed as an RB2 and RB3, respectively, if they are both healthy and if Peterson signs.

Saints | Mark Ingram productive at home, on road

Wed, 25 Jan 2017 16:49:12 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed for 514 yards and three touchdowns at home this season and rushed for 529 yards and three touchdowns on the road.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram had to share some of the work with Tim Hightower near the end of the season but posted solid numbers in 2016. Ingram has a decent chance to receive most of the work at running back next season and can be a No. 2 running back in fantasy leagues.

Saints | Mark Ingram posts first 1,000-yard season

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 22:32:46 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed 20 times for 103 yards and a touchdown in the Week 17 game against the Atlanta Falcons. He went over 1,000 yards for the first time in his NFL career.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram stayed healthy and was outstanding for fantasy owners down the stretch, including 193 rushing yards and three scores in the final two games. He looks like a legitimate RB1 in all fantasy leagues heading into 2017.

Saints | Mark Ingram scores two TDs

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 23:26:09 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram ran 18 times for 90 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 31-24 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fantasy Tip: For one week, at least, the Saints running game was back on track. Ingram had a decent day, and he goes into the 2017 offseason as a possible RB2 or RB3 on fantasy lists. What prevents him from being an RB1 is the presence of RB Tim Hightower, who had eight carries and 29 yards.

Saints | Mark Ingram totals 92 yards

Sun, 18 Dec 2016 21:57:31 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (toe, knee) rushed 17 times for 78 yards in the Week 15 game against the Arizona Cardinals. He also added two receptions for 14 yards on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram had his third-highest yardage total from scrimmage since Week 3, but he has been held out of the end zone for each of the past three outings. He should be treated as more of a low-end RB2 heading into Week 16.

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (toe, knee) was a limited participant in practice Friday, Dec. 16, and he isn't listed on the Week 15 injury report.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram has RB2 upside, but his inconsistent production and a tough matchup against Arizona make him better suited as a flex play in Week 15.

Saints | Mark Ingram does not practice

Wed, 14 Dec 2016 15:20:07 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (knee, toe) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram was able to play in the last game, but owners should keep an eye on the situation to see if he is in any danger of missing the Week 15 game. He has been sharing work with Tim Hightower over the last several weeks and has been inconsistent with his rushing yards recently. He could be a low-end No. 2 running back or a flex option in deeper leagues.
