Saints | Saints' top three RBs practice

Wed, 26 Nov 2014 15:10:14 -0800

New Orleans Saints RBs Mark Ingram (shoulder), Pierre Thomas (rib, shoulder) and Travaris Cadet (hamstring) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram probably will continue to receive a majority of the carries with Thomas being more involved in the passing game. Cadet probably will receive time if one of the other running backs needs a break. Ingram costs $6,600 on FantasyScore, but owners may want to lower their expectations since the Pittsburgh Steelers have held opposing running backs in check over the last four weeks. Thomas costs $5,200 and could be a flex option because of his receiving ability. Owners should not consider using Cadet even though he only costs $3,200.

Saints | Mark Ingram practices in full again

Fri, 21 Nov 2014 13:28:36 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (shoulder) practiced in full for the second straight day Friday, Nov. 21.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints' backfield is beat up, but Ingram ($6,600) is easily the healthiest back of the lot, and he'll probably see the vast majority of touches against the Baltimore Ravens. He may have a tough time returning value at FantasyScore, though, against the Ravens' formidable rush defense.

Saints | Full practice for Mark Ingram

Thu, 20 Nov 2014 14:34:07 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (shoulder) practiced in full Thursday, Nov. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram ($6,600) has been the team's bell-cow back for much of the season, and that's likely to continue Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens. However, B'More allows the fewest fantasy points to backs this year, making it tough for Ingram to return any value on his FantasyScore salary this week.

Mon, 17 Nov 2014 03:44:13 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram may be forced into the free agent market following the 2014 season. The team would like to make a play for Ingram, but it has $160 million in salary cap commitments and the cap is projected at $142 million for 2015.

Saints | Mark Ingram expected to play

Fri, 14 Nov 2014 13:11:37 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 14, and is listed as probable for Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram has rushed for at least 100 yards in each of his last three games and has scored three touchdowns in that span. Ingram will continue to receive most of the carries in the running game and could be a solid starting option if owners on FantasyScore are comfortable with spending $6,700 on him.

Saints | Mark Ingram's status not in doubt

Thu, 13 Nov 2014 15:07:48 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (shoulder) was limited in practice again Thursday, Nov. 13, but his status doesn't appear to be in doubt for Week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Ingram has carried the ball 57 times in the last two games while dealing with his shoulder ailment. He also said that his body has become used to the heavy workload.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram should continue to shoulder the load for the Saints with Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson unlikely to play this weekend. Ingram ($6,700) continues to be a solid play at FantasyScore while he's seeing the lion's share of touches.

Saints | Limited practice for Mark Ingram

Wed, 12 Nov 2014 19:27:16 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Fantasy Tip: The Cincinnati Bengals have been shredded for an AFC-worst 143 yard rush yards per game this season and they are worst in the AFC with 12 rushing touchdowns allowed. If Ingram is healthy and able to play Sunday, he will be a nice FantasyScore option at $6,700 (or 13.4 percent of the cap).

Saints | Mark Ingram will play

Sun, 09 Nov 2014 06:49:18 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (shoulder) will play Sunday, Nov. 9, in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram ($6,100; 12.2% of your cap) doesn't have a great matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. His price tag makes him a risky play today on FantasyScore.

Saints | Mark Ingram ready for big workload

Fri, 07 Nov 2014 14:50:14 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (shoulder) is questionable for Week 10 against the San Francisco 49ers, but he says that his injury is nothing serious, and he'll be ready to carry a big load in the game. RBs Khiry Robinson (arm) and Pierre Thomas (shoulder, rib) have both been ruled out, meaning Ingram will likely have a large role in the backfield. Ingram carried the ball 30 times for 100 yards in the game he was injured Oct. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram definitely isn't a bad option for your FantasyScore lineups at ($6,100), but make sure to check if he's active Sunday morning. Travaris Cadet ($3,300) is a sleeper option at a flex spot, too, especially if the Saints look to limit Ingram some.

Saints | Mark Ingram questionable

Fri, 07 Nov 2014 13:47:34 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Nov. 7, and is listed as questionable for Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to check the inactive list to see if he is playing before deciding on their lineup. There is a chance he could be limited if he is active for the game. Ingram costs $6,300 on FantasyScore, which may be too expensive for owners worried about his injury. Travaris Cadet could receive more work because of Ingram's injury and would be a good flex option at $3,300.

Saints | Mark Ingram limited in practice

Thu, 06 Nov 2014 18:33:17 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (shoulder) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Nov. 6, but he said that the injury is not serious and that he will be ready to play Sunday, Nov. 9.

Fantasy Tip: He draws a difficult matchup against the San Francisco defense, but with Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas questionable to play, Ingram stands to receive a ton of touches. He should be able to live up to his $6,300 salary (12.6% of cap) at FantasyScore.

Saints | Limited participation for Mark Ingram

Wed, 05 Nov 2014 17:25:50 -0800

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant for practice Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram has really come out lately for fantasy owners, and he should be good to go in Week 10 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Saints | Mark Ingram injures shoulder

Thu, 30 Oct 2014 19:31:45 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (shoulder) suffered a right shoulder injury in the first half of the team's game Thursday, Oct. 30, and will play the rest of the game with a brace.

Fantasy Tip: Although it's good news that Ingram remained in the game, the injury is worth monitoring going forward to see if it forces him to miss time or limits his effectiveness.

Saints | Mark Ingram ready to carry load

Tue, 28 Oct 2014 18:03:33 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram said he is a little sore after a career-high 24 carries in Week 8 but added that he will be ready to carry a heavy load again in the team's Week 9 game Thursday, Oct. 30.

Fantasy Tip: There is a good chance Ingram will have the backfield to himself again Thursday with Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson nursing injuries. With the Saints facing the 28th-ranked run defense of the Carolina Panthers, Ingram ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) could be one of the better values at running back at FantasyScore in Week 9.

Saints | Mark Ingram posts career high

Sun, 26 Oct 2014 20:14:54 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram carried 23 times for a career-high 168 yards and a touchdown in the Week 8 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram took advantage of the NFC's worst rushing defense and made fantasy owners very happy, adding a late score to make smiles even wider.

Fri, 17 Oct 2014 13:39:43 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (hand) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 17, and is probable for Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram looks like he will be good to go in the team's Week 7 game, and will cost $4,000 (8.0% of cap) this week in FantasyScore.

Saints | Full practice for Mark Ingram

Thu, 16 Oct 2014 14:25:52 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (hand) practiced in full for the second straight week Thursday, Oct. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram will only cost you $4,000 (8.0% of cap) at FantasyScore against the Detroit Lions in Week 7. It sounds as if Ingram is primed for a full workload in his first game back, but keep in mind that the Lions have been a stiff unit against the run this year.

Saints | Mark Ingram may share carries

Thu, 16 Oct 2014 08:12:57 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (thumb) received a majority of the carries during the first two games of the season, but head coach Sean Payton said the team has not decided how they will split the carries in Week 7. RB Khiry Robinson filled in for Ingram while he was out and has rushed for 304 yards and two touchdowns in five games this season.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like the Saints may ease Ingram back into the lineup, which will affect his touches. Ingram costs $4,000 on FantasyScore, but would be a risky play since his workload is uncertain at this point.

Saints | Mark Ingram 100 percent ready

Wed, 15 Oct 2014 16:30:25 -0700

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (thumb) said he hasn't been limited at all after returning to practice this week, and he no longer has a brace on his hand. "I'm ready to go full go, 100 percent, full tilt," Ingram said. "I've been getting all the reps in practice. They haven't babied me or eased me into practice, so I've been doing everything, catching, running, blocking, everything." However, head coach Sean Payton has been mum on how the team will split repetitions between Ingram and RBs Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas in Week 7 against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Take note that Ingram should be back this week. That makes his low cost at FantasyScore intriguing, but be cautious. The three-headed monster could be back, making it a frustrating week-to-week guessing game.

Saints | Mark Ingram practices, expects to play

Wed, 15 Oct 2014 14:28:51 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (hand) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 15, and said he plans to play in Week 7 against the Detroit Lions. Ingram may wear a small brace on his hand, but his fracture has healed completely. RB Khiry Robinson had been taking most of the snaps in Ingram's absence. "We'll see how we handle that on Sunday," said head coach Sean Payton. "Obviously we value depth at that position."

Fantasy Tip: It makes sense to try and take advantage of Ingram's low cost ($4,000; 8.0% of cap) at FantasyScore, but it's still risky. Ingram could be limited upon his return, and the Lions have been stingy up front. Robinson ($6,000) doesn't have much intrigue now, and Pierre Thomas will cost ($5,600).

Saints | Jimmy Graham likely to miss 2 games

Sun, 12 Oct 2014 07:07:46 -0700

New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham (shoulder) is expected to miss two to three weeks after the bye week in Week 6, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The Saints offense relies on Graham most, but, honestly, the entire depth chart could benefit in his absence. Look for more reliance on Mark Ingram, Pierre Thomas and Marques Colston in the red zone.

Mon, 06 Oct 2014 11:53:55 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (hand) did not practice Friday, Sept. 19, and has been ruled out for Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Fantasy Tip: The values of Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas will go up for at least the next month with Ingram out. Robinson ($4,500) is an excellent value at FantasyScore this weekend, and Thomas ($5,700) isn't a bad play, either.

Saints | Mark Ingram undergoes surgery

Wed, 17 Sep 2014 12:36:20 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (hand) underwent surgery to place two screws in his broken hand, according to head coach Sean Payton. Ingram will not play in Week 3, but the injury is not believed to be a long-term injury.

Fantasy Tip: Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson are expected to get most of the work at running back while Ingram is out. Both Thomas and Robinson are solid options to use in all leagues. Robinson likely is a better value on FantasyScore since he only costs $4,500, but Thomas is also a good value at $5,700.

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (hand) suffered a broken hand in the team's Week 2 game and will miss at least four weeks, according to a source.

Mon, 15 Sep 2014 09:29:29 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram (hand) is expected to miss roughly a month after injuring his hand in Week 2, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram's injury boosts the value of Pierre Thomas and Khiry Robinson in the Saints' backfield. Both could be good buys in Week 3 at FantasyScore against the Minnesota Vikings at home.

Saints | Mark Ingram stands out

Mon, 08 Sep 2014 06:36:24 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram had 13 rushes for 60 yards and two touchdowns in Week 1

Fantasy Tip: It was one of his most productive games of his career. The team faces a tough matchup in the Browns in Week 2. If Ingram's price tag doesn't rise too much on FantasyScore, he could be a low-end RB2.

Saints | Mark Ingram dominating

Tue, 26 Aug 2014 17:44:07 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram is averaging 7.1 yards per carry during the preseason and has remained on the field in passing situations.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram appears to have earned first crack at being the team's early-down back, and if the Saints continue to let him play on some passing downs, it will help prevent defenses from focusing on stopping the run when he is in the game. He will likely never become a true lead back in New Orleans' spread-the-wealth offense, but Ingram has a chance to be a solid flex play this year.

Saints | Mark Ingram's role evolving

Tue, 19 Aug 2014 19:50:09 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram has never had a touchdown reception during the regular season, but he took a screen pass for a 23-yard touchdown in the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram has looked like a more decisive runner during the preseason, and the fact that he is being used a little in the passing game is encouraging. The Saints rotate their picks too frequently and throw the ball too much to make Ingram more than a RB4 on draft day, but when you do decide to roll the dice on one of New Orleans' running backs, Ingram looks like he has the most upside at this point.

Saints | Pierre Thomas third in pecking order

Mon, 11 Aug 2014 05:30:10 -0700

New Orleans Saints RBs Mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson have pulled ahead of RB Pierre Thomas at running back.

Fantasy Tip: As has been the case previously in New Orleans, the running back committee will make all three options frustrating for fantasy football owners. The pecking order could easily change before Week 1, too. All three rushers may be nothing more than flex plays most weeks, and Thomas will definitely be more valuable in PPR affairs.

Saints | Mark Ingram will be core player

Thu, 24 Jul 2014 16:31:26 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram will be a core player in the Saints' offense this year, according to general manager Mickey Loomis.

Fantasy Tip: This is the year for Ingram to prove his disappointing career has been a fluke thus far. He'll likely see most of the running work while splitting time with RBs Khiry Robinson and Pierre Thomas. It's still best to be cautious with him at this point. He's an RB4 at best in standard leagues.

Saints | Mark Ingram more focused

Thu, 12 Jun 2014 10:11:56 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram has shown increased focus in offseason practices this year and has been more intense during workouts as he enters his contract year. Ingram knows he must work hard, because RBs Khiry Robinson and Travaris Cadet wait in the wings. Head coach Sean Payton noted that Ingram did a good job of tuning out some of the criticism last year, when his 4.9 yards per carry led the team in 2013.

Saints | Mark Ingram to use contract as motivation

Thu, 05 Jun 2014 11:35:26 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram said he is more motivated after the team declined to pick up his fifth-year option this offseason. "Like they said, they really like me as a player," Ingram said. "Just the (salary) number was a little high for what a running back gets on the free-agent market."

Fantasy Tip: Ingram came on strong at the tail end of last season, but the problem is Khiry Robinson was even better, and the Saints still have Pierre Thomas in the fold. The Saints may be more ground-based in 2014, but the presence of Robinson, especially, will hurt Ingram's value.
