Saints | Mark Ingram finishes with big game

Sun, 15 Oct 2017 18:01:49 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed 25 times for 114 yards and two touchdowns in the Week 6 game against the Detroit Lions and he added five receptions for 36 yards on five targets.

Fantasy Tip: It's like a cloud was removed from Ingram's head when Adrian Peterson was shipped to Arizona. While Peterson wasn't cutting into Ingram's time, perhaps he was not performing or was uncomfortable looking over his shoulder at the future Hall of Famer. It was smooth sailing in Week 6, and fantasy owners hope that continues in Week 7 in Green Bay and beyond.

Saints | Mark Ingram rushes for 45 yards

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 10:06:08 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed for 45 yards on 14 carries against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4. He also caught four passes for 17 yards during the game.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram has been receiving a majority of the carries during games but is sharing time with Alvin Kamara. He will be off next week but could be a flex option against the Detroit Lions in Week 6 since he will be involved in the run and pass game.

Saints | Mark Ingram totals 16 touches in win

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 13:40:03 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed 14 times for 56 yards in Week 3 at Carolina and he added two receptions for 30 yards on four targets.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram continues to lead the way in backfield touches, totaling 16, while Adrian Peterson had 11 total touches and rookie Alvin Kamara managed five. As long as Ingram continues to lead the team in touches he is the top fantasy option, but Kamara might have the most upside of the triumvirate for the long term.

Saints | Mark Ingram totals 12 touches

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 18:58:59 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram rushed eight times for 52 yards in Week 2 against the Patriots while adding four receptions for 24 yards on five targets.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram continues to remain at the top of the New Orleans running back totem pole, as he had 12 total touches to eight for Adrian Peterson and four for Alvin Kamara. Nothing is expected to change heading into Week 3 in Carolina.

Saints | Mark Ingram salvages Week 1 outing

Mon, 11 Sep 2017 20:34:50 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram didn't contribute much on the ground in the club's Week 1 game Monday, Sept. 11, against the Minnesota Vikings, rushing for just 17 yards on six carries, but he also managed to haul in all five of his targets for 54 receiving yards.

Fantasy Tip: Most interestingly, Ingram actually played less snaps (26) than rookie Alvin Kamara (31), but at least the former Heisman Trophy winner was able to give his fantasy owners something in the season opener. Based on how he was used, though, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him trend down towards RB3 territory. However, he still may be useful his next time out when the Saints partake in a likely high-scoring affair opposite the Patriots.

Saints | Mark Ingram a fixture in passing game

Wed, 02 Aug 2017 10:45:17 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram has been very active in the passing game throughout training camp, according to ESPN's Mike Triplett.

Fantasy Tip: Ingram's role in the Saints' backfield has been in question ever since the team signed Adrian Peterson, but it really shouldn't change all that much. Alvin Kamara was drafted with an eye on turning him into a satellite back in the Darren Sproles/Reggie Bush mode, while Peterson gives the team a physical edge it hasn't had in a while. Ingram's role shouldn't change much, making him a high-upside - albeit likely inconsistent - RB2 in 2017.

Saints | Mark Ingram perfect as a red zone receiver

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 19:35:38 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram hauled in all 10 of his targets inside the 20 last season, making him only one of five players with at least five such targets to catch every one.

Fantasy Tip: Adrian Peterson has made a lot of noise recently about proving himself as a receiver, but Ingram and rookie Alvin Kamara are better equipped to handle that work. With that said, at least 22 percent of the Saints' targets have been directed at the running back position over the last 10 seasons, and the average during the span is 26 percent. In short, there should be plenty of opportunities for all three backs to get their fill of catches. Ingram should be considered a high-upside RB3.

Saints | Mark Ingram learning from Adrian Peterson

Fri, 16 Jun 2017 08:50:05 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram said he is competing with RB Adrian Peterson but is also learning from him. Ingram noted that he and Peterson recently discussed how to balance patience, vision, decisiveness and aggression when trying to get first-down yardage on third and short. Ingram said putting his head down and barreling forward toward the first sign of an opening has been his inclination, but sometimes a choice he regretted because, "If you would have followed your read and followed the guard outside, you would have had a 30-yard run." Ingram recalled Peterson telling him, "I've noticed that in that time you just have to slow down and trust your eyes."

Fantasy Tip: Ingram will still be a factor, but his touches will be affected by Peterson's arrival. Ingram has been a better receiver of late, though, and that could give him the nod on third downs. Ingram is a high-end RB3, but if the team's approach shifts more to the running game, he could sneak into the RB2 area.

Saints | Saints using 'three-headed monster' at RB?

Mon, 01 May 2017 19:30:44 -0700

The New Orleans Saints' plan for the upcoming season is "likely to recreate their 2009 and 2011 potent backfield attack" when they implemented a "three-headed monster" at running back. This came to fruition when they drafted RB Alvin Kamara, who is a "prototypical third-down back" to complement RBs Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson. Kamara could be in line to play a "Reggie Bush/Darren Sproles-type role."

Fantasy Tip: This could be a frustrating storyline for those who end up drafting Mark Ingram, seeing as he's proven he can be a productive workhorse back when he is healthy. At the same time, this development also indicates Peterson could turn out to be an excellent value pick if he's getting a good amount of work around the goal line. As for Kamara, owners might want to take a wait-and-see approach with the third-round pick.

Saints | Travaris Cadet to see reduced role?

Sun, 30 Apr 2017 19:27:02 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB Travaris Cadet will compete with RB Alvin Kamara for the third-down back role while RB Adrian Peterson and RB Mark Ingram serve as the traditional backs, according to beat writer Nick Underhill.

Fantasy Tip: After the Saints traded up for Kamara, he is going to be given a chance to show what he can do. Cadet's value was already limited to deeper PPR formats, and the addition of Kamara likely makes him a non-factor for fantasy purposes.
