Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said DT Ndamukong Suh could have a new contract extension in place soon. "I think this will get done on the eve of free agency or the eve of the start of the new league year, which is when free agency starts," Mayhew said. "Or some time shortly after the start of the new league year. That will be a good timetable for it." NFL free agency begins March 11. Suh currently has yet to hire another agent after firing Roosevelt Barnes of Relativity Sports in January.

Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh's presence on the roster comes with a price tag of $22.4 million, which gives the team almost no flexibility to do anything else in free agency. Even with the extra $11.5 million the team saved by releasing S Louis Delmas and WR Nate Burleson, the Lions do not have enough cap space to sign all of the team's prospective draft picks this May. Still, Lions president Tom Lewand would like to get Suh under contract, even if some pieces have to be moved into different places.

Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz said Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh was never late to anything when he was the head coach of the Lions. "Ndamukong Suh was not late for any team meeting, practice or team travel in any of our four years together with the Lions," Schwartz said. "Anyone who reports otherwise is either being untruthful or has been (misled)."

Detroit Lions DT Andre Fluellen said DT Ndamukong Suh was a fine teammate this season and was not late for any meetings. "He was like he always is," Fluellen said. "He's there, he's a good teammate and he's just pretty much like everybody else. We kind of keep ourselves on a standard in the defensive line room and he held the standard along with everybody else." FOX Sports analyst Heath Evans said Suh was uncontrollable in the locker room during the season and was late to several meetings.

FOX Sports analyst Heath Evans said during a radio interview that three unidentified teammates of Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh told him stories of how Suh tried to establish dominance in the locker room even over former head coach Jim Schwartz. "The bottom line is he would just do things, whether it was show up for a meeting late, or different antics to kind of let the team know ... it was more or less Suh just trying to show his dominance, his power," Evans said. "That he was basically untouchable and he could basically do what he wanted to do."
