Titans | Jake Locker to throw Tuesday

Mon, 20 Oct 2014 13:44:41 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) is scheduled to throw Tuesday, Oct. 21, and the team will see how he responds Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Locker appears to have a chance to play in Week 8 but will need to show he is healthy enough to play. Charlie Whitehurst probably would start again this week if Locker is not able to play, but neither quarterback should be a starting option for owners.

Mon, 20 Oct 2014 08:09:14 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) is expected to play in Week 8, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Fantasy Tip: Locker has a tough matchup against the Houston Texans next week and probably won't be a good option on FantasyScore. The team has a bye the following week, so it's not out of the question that they hold him out another week.

Tennessee Titans QB Charlie Whitehurst will start Sunday, Oct. 19, in place of QB Jake Locker (thumb).

Fantasy Tip: Whitehurst ($4,000; 8% of your cap) isn't a good selection on FantasyScore today against the Washington Redskins. The matchup is decent if you're looking to cash in at other positions.

Titans | Jake Locker questionable

Fri, 17 Oct 2014 13:07:27 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 17, and is listed as questionable for Week 7 against the Washington Redskins. Locker did very little during individual drills Friday, with QB Charlie Whitehurst taking the bulk of the repetitions. Locker has already missed two starts this year, and all signs are pointing to him missing another this weekend. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said a decision won't be made on Locker until Sunday, Oct. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Locker's game-time decision status isn't appealing as you look to make your quarterback selection for FantasyScore. Stay away from the Titans quarterback this weekend against the 'Skins.

Titans | Jake Locker not expected to play?

Fri, 17 Oct 2014 11:09:02 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) isn't expected to play against the Washington Redskins in Week 7 after being limited in practice all week, in the opinion of The Tennessean's Jim Wyatt.

Fantasy Tip: Charlie Whitehurst has been seeing first-team repetitions in practice, leading us to believe that the Titans are prepping him to start against Washington and not Locker. Avoid Locker's $4,800 salary at FantasyScore.

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (hand) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) is still having problems with his bruised thumb and will need to make progress during the week if he wants a chance to play in Week 7, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will have to see if Locker will be able to do something during practice this week. Charlie Whitehurst likely would receive another start if Locker is not able to play, but owners probably would be able to find a better starting quarterback.

Titans | Jake Locker not expected to play

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 11:29:23 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) is not expected to play in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he's officially listed as questionable on the injury report. He made some soft tosses Friday, but was listed as a non-participant in practice. QB Charlie Whitehurst is expected to make his second start of the year.

Fantasy Tip: Even against the weak Jacksonville Jaguars defense, we don't recommend using Whitehurst ($4,000) at FantasyScore. Downgrading the Titans receivers is wise, too. Bishop Sankey may be the only acceptable option for your daily lineups in Tennessee.

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 12:00:51 -0700

Titans | Jake Locker misses practice

Thu, 09 Oct 2014 11:46:23 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to see if Locker is able to practice Friday, Oct. 10, because it does not appear like he will be able to play in Week 6 at this point. Charlie Whitehurst likely would get the start if Locker misses the game, but owners could probably find a better quarterback to use than Whitehurst.

Titans | Jake Locker improving

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 20:28:20 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) said Wednesday, Oct. 8, that his thumb is feeling better. He did not officially practice, but he and head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Locker was able to make some throws. Locker remains hopeful he will be ready to play in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: Locker could be in line for a strong fantasy performance against the leaky pass defense of the Jaguars, but he has missed four games this season, and 15 of a possibly 37 starts over the past three seasons. He is a huge injury-risk, and FantasyScore owners would do well to use another option.

Titans | Jake Locker sits

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 14:42:36 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Fantasy Tip: Even though it is early, Locker not practicing today is not a great sign for his availability this week. The $4,700 he would cost you on FantasyScore can probably be better spent elsewhere.

Titans | Jake Locker able to throw

Wed, 08 Oct 2014 12:21:01 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) is able to throw ball a bit at this point, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt. Locker will be monitored during the week so the team can determine his status for Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to watch his practice participation to see if he will be able to play. Charlie Whitehurst probably would start if Locker is not able to play. Locker costs $4,700 on FantasyScore, while Whitehurst costs $4,000. Owners could consider using the starter if they want to use the extra money on other positions.

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) has a bruised thumb with a lot of swelling, but he does not appear to have any structural damage, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to see if Locker is able to practice this week to get a better idea of his status for Week 6. Charlie Whitehurst would get the start if Locker is not able to play. Neither quarterback should be a starting option for most fantasy owners.

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) suffered no setbacks during practice this week and will start against the Cleveland Browns in Week 5. "He's has a good week of practice," head coach Ken Whisenhunt said of Locker. "The first day working back into it with the hand, we weren't sure how it was going to be, but he's progressed as the week has gone along."

Fantasy Tip: Coming off an injury, Locker will likely be ignored by most FantasyScore owners. He'll cost $6,300, but the matchup against the Browns is shaky.

Thu, 02 Oct 2014 15:47:40 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 2, for the second straight day.

Fantasy Tip: Locker is fully expected to return in Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns. This contest, however, has the makings of a game that will feature plenty of the ground game, limiting Locker's appeal at FantasyScore.

Titans | Jake Locker expected to play

Wed, 01 Oct 2014 13:06:47 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 1, and is expected to start in Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns. He missed Week 4 with a right wrist injury, but he said he had no issues in practice Wednesday. Locker's passer ratings in Week 2 and 3 were 60.2 and 41.9, respectively.

Fantasy Tip: Locker is a cheaper option at FantasyScore this weekend at $6,300 (12.6% of cap). However, his matchup against the Browns doesn't give him a whole lot of upside.

Sun, 28 Sep 2014 07:18:04 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) will not start Sunday, Sept. 28. QB Charlie Whitehurst will start in his place.

Fantasy Tip: Locker probably wasn't a good start at $6,600 (13.2% of your cap) on FantasyScore anyway. Whitehurst ($4,200; 8.4%) is a bare-minimum option this week.

Titans | Jake Locker sits out

Wed, 24 Sep 2014 14:30:07 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist), who suffered a strained right wrist in Week 3, did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 24. His right hand looked swollen, and he barely moved it after speaking with reporters following practice. An MRI exam earlier this week showed no structural damage. "I'm getting better each day," Locker said. "It was something I felt a little bit during the game, and then when the adrenaline stopped, it started hurting a little more. I'm just working as hard as I can to get back as soon as possible." If Locker can't play in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts, QB Charlie Whitehurst would start.

Fantasy Tip: The Titans are unlikely to make a ruling on Locker until later this week. He'll cost you a cool $6,600 (13.2% of cap) at FantasyScore in Week 4. Consider other options, since Locker may not be close to 100 percent in this one.

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) has a wrist strain, according to an MRI. The quarterback's status for Week 4 is still uncertain.

Titans | Jake Locker remains starter

Sun, 21 Sep 2014 15:19:04 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker remains the starting quarterback, and head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Sunday, Sept. 21, that he never considered benching Locker despite a lopsided loss in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He said Locker is his quarterback, and the coach will be patient with him.

Titans | Jake Locker more patient

Tue, 09 Sep 2014 14:22:31 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker stayed in the pocket in Sunday's game more frequently than he has throughout his career. In fact, Locker didn't attempt a pass from outside the pocket, according to ESPN. Locker's patience helped him tally 266 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Fantasy Tip: If Locker can maintain his composure in the pocket instead of rolling outside of the pocket as he's been prone to do in his injury-riddled career, he could end up being a very pleasant surprise in 2014. He's definitely worth a shot this week against a suspect Dallas Cowboys secondary for $6,400 on FantasyScore.

Titans | Coach says Jake Locker has good footwork

Wed, 02 Jul 2014 10:25:30 -0700

Tennessee Titans quarterbacks coach John McNulty said QB Jake Locker uses good posture in the pocket and plays on his toes, which helps him move from one target to another. "Once you step to one guy, you can't just step over. You've got to be in that football position and move your whole operation. I think that helps him, he plays kind of up on his toes, he's always in a football position. Some of these big guys are straight up and down and when their first guy is not there, their foot is planted and they just step to the next guy. It's really as much getting your shoulders and hips in line as it is your feet. The way he plays, he's able to do that," McNulty said.

Fantasy Tip: Locker likely will be the team's starting quarterback this upcoming season but probably should not be seen as more than a low-end No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Titans | Looking for Jake Locker to be pocket passer

Mon, 30 Jun 2014 12:47:42 -0700

Tennessee Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt is looking to make QB Jake Locker a pocket passer in his offense even though mobility is one of Locker's strengths. The team will still use rollouts and bootlegs at times but most of Locker's passes will come out of the pocket. Whisenhunt has been happy with how well Locker has picked up the offense this offseason. "Jake works hard," Whisenhunt said. "He's done a great job as far as studying the offense and understanding his reads. He's really done a good job with a lot of little things - his footwork, his techniques."

"From day one, he's worked his butt off from rehabilitation of his foot to jumping in the playbook, to how he's gone about his preparation on the field. It's been a frustrating go at times with his foot, but he's never shown it. He's a poised man. I'm excited about working with him. He does some good things that we've already seen," Michael said.

Titans | Jake Locker making progress

Fri, 20 Jun 2014 10:53:34 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (foot) said an indicator of his progress this offseason has been connecting visualizations with verbiage. Locker said he'll be really comfortable with the new offense once he's able to "paint a picture" of a play. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said it's good Locker is feeling more comfortable, but he's not there yet.

Fantasy Tip: The main question surrounding Locker hasn't been comfort in the offense, it's been health. Whether he feels more comfortable or not, we're still not comfortable drafting him as more than a low-end QB2.

Titans | Jake Locker receives praise from QB coach

Mon, 09 Jun 2014 12:10:30 -0700

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (foot) is proving he's the leader of the Titans, according to quarterbacks coach John McNulty. McNulty added that Locker's work ethic and intangibles are unquestioned. The fourth-year quarterback is comfortable with his reads and has shown good footwork and decision-making. He is ahead of schedule in recovering from a Lisfranc injury and surgery last year.

Fantasy Tip: This is encouraging news from McNulty, but Locker is too big of a risk to even be drafted. Hes missed 15 games the past two seasons due to injuries and is a bye-week replacement or streaming option at best in 2014.
