Mets | Travis d'Arnaud makes rehab appearance

Wed, 27 May 2015 17:32:37 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (finger) caught seven innings Wednesday, May 27, in a rehab appearance for Class A St. Lucie. d'Arnaud went 0-for-3 at the plate with three groundouts.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is expected to rejoin the Mets' lineup late next week, and they sorely need his offense. The fact that d'Arnaud was able to catch seven innings is more impressive and more meaningful than the 0-for-3 day at the plate. d'Arnaud should be picked up in standard, mixed leagues.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud takes important step

Tue, 26 May 2015 17:40:35 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (finger) caught five innings in an extended spring training game Tuesday, May 26. d'Arnaud went 1-for-3 with a run scored. The Mets plan to have d'Arnaud go on a rehab assignment with Class A St. Lucie and then with Class AAA Las Vegas before he's activated from the disabled list. d'Arnaud could return for next week's series in San Diego, at which point C Kevin Plawecki will be returned to Las Vegas.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is worth stashing now in 12-team mixed leagues. The Mets offense sorely needs d'Arnaud to return and pick up where he left off before going on the DL.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud eyeing early June

Mon, 25 May 2015 18:43:00 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (finger) is scheduled to play five innings Tuesday, May 26 in extended spring training. He could start an injury rehab stint the following day, move to Class AAA Las Vegas later in the week and rejoin the Mets during a trip to San Diego and Arizona beginning Monday, June 1.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has been out since April 19, and when he does return to the lineup, it is best to take a wait-and-see approach at FantasyScore.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud takes batting practice

Fri, 22 May 2015 13:54:04 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (finger) took batting practice Friday, May 22, and it was the first time since he suffered his injury.

Fantasy Tip: Remain patient and continue to stash d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) in all seasonal formats. Kevin Plawecki ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has handled the majority of starts in his absence, but his fleeting value is nearing an end. FantasyScore players will want to take a wait-and-see approach with d'Arnaud when he returns, and view Plawecki as a value option for contests when he is behind the dish.

Mets | David Wright, Travis d'Arnaud over a week away

Tue, 19 May 2015 13:51:47 -0700

New York Mets 3B David Wright (hamstring, back) and C Travis d'Arnaud (finger) are both 10 days to two weeks away from a return to the team, according to general manager Sandy Alderson.

Fantasy Tip: Both players are progressing very slowly, and you have to wonder how much power Wright will have when he comes back. In the meantime, Eric Campbell ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is manning the hot corner, while Kevin Plawecki ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is seeing the majority of starts behind the dish. Both players are weak FantasyScore commodities.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud takes dry swings

Mon, 18 May 2015 13:16:21 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (finger) took dry swings Monday, May 18. Hitting is the only baseball activity he has not been cleared for.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is still several weeks away from returning to the lineup. He is worth stashing in the majority of seasonal owners. Kevin Plawecki ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) and Anthony Recker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) have made the majority of starts in d'Arnaud's absence, but neither are anything more than low-priced fliers for FantasyScore players.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud may hit soon

Fri, 15 May 2015 14:09:39 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (finger) could be start hitting Monday, May 18, if X-rays on his finger look good, according to general manager Sandy Alderson.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is making progress in his recovery but still appears to be several weeks away from returning to the lineup. Kevin Plawecki ($3,200, 6.4% of cap), Anthony Recker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) and Johnny Monell ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) are all options to receive starts, but all should be considered weak options on FantasyScore.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud progressing

Mon, 11 May 2015 15:26:06 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (finger) was cleared for all baseball activities except hitting Monday, May 11.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is still a ways away from returning, so continue to check back for updates on his progress and a return timetable. He has emerged as a low-end catcher in the majority of seasonal leagues and a nice upside FantasyScore play in favorable matchups.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud to play some OF?

Wed, 06 May 2015 22:14:39 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (finger) could play some outfield when he returns from the 15-day disabled list, according to manager Terry Collins. "I certainly don't know when Travis is coming back. The closer he gets - and we'll see how Kevin's playing at the time - I think you've got to give yourself an idea of how this is going to work," Collins said.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud ($3,100; 6.2% of cap) doesn't sound too close to returning, but once he is back he could be a decent low-priced option if he picks up where he left off.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud in a splint for a month

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 11:53:52 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (hand) was diagnosed with a metacarpal fracture in his right hand. He'll be in a splint for three weeks and can resume baseball activities after that if his injury has healed and he's not dealing with any pain.

Fantasy Tip: You'll want to ignore d'Arnaud at FantasyScore for at least a month. Everywhere else, keep him stashed in a DL slot. There's reason to be worried that his hand injury could sap him of his power, at least shortly after his return. In the meantime, Kevin Plawecki will serve as the starting catcher and will be a cheap matchup play for daily owners.
