Mets | Travis d'Arnaud sitting vs. Nats

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 14:02:54 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 29. C Rene Rivera is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud is 5-for-22 with three RBI since returning from the disabled list. Remain patient with the impact backstop in all settings, as he has nice power potential from the position. Over the past two years, Rivera has a .180/.223/.279 slash line through 392 plate appearances, so against Scherzer, Rivera is an ill-advised fantasy option.

Mets | Several NYM regulars resting Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 08:43:10 -0700

New York Mets SS Asdrubal Cabrera, OF Curtis Granderson and C Travis d'Arnaud are not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Bud Norris Sunday, June 26. INF/OF Kelly Johnson will bat leadoff and play left field, INF Matthew Reynolds will play shortstop and bat second, OF Brandon Nimmo will play right field and bat seventh and C Rene Rivera will start behind the plate and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds is 7-for-20 with a home run and six RBI during the month of June and is worth considering as a value play for daily fantasy lineups. Nimmo will be making his MLB debut and possesses plenty of upside, so he could be worth taking a flier on in DFS as well. Johnson and Rivera are a combined 1-for-11 versus Norris and should be avoided Sunday.

Mets | Two Mets idle Wednesday

Wed, 22 Jun 2016 08:04:03 -0700

New York Mets OF Michael Conforto and C Travis d'Arnaud are out of the lineup Wednesday, June 22. 3B Wilmer Flores moves up to hit fifth, OF Matthew Reynolds hits seventh and C Rene Rivera hits eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Flores hits lefties pretty well, and he faces lefty Danny Duffy today. He's worth the low-end consideration hitting fifth. Reynolds and Rivera aren't worth DFS consideration.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud activated from DL

Tue, 21 Jun 2016 13:39:47 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, June 21, and is in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Ian Kennedy. He will bat eighth in the lineup. The team also optioned C Kevin Plawecki to Class AAA Las Vegas.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud has not played since the last week of April but should receive most of the starts at catcher moving forward. Owners may want to see him play in a game or two before considering him a starting option.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud scheduled for weekend rehab

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 14:00:50 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) will rehab with Class AAA Las Vegas over the weekend. If all goes well, he could come off the 15-day disabled list as soon as Tuesday, June 21.

Fantasy Tip: No doubt the team hopes d'Arnaud can hit well when he comes back. The team has used a combination of Kevin Plawecki and Rene Rivera with little effect. Wait and see if d'Arnaud will hit the ball when he returns to the lineup before activating.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud starting behind the dish

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 14:27:38 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) is catching for Class A St. Lucie Monday, June 13.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud will likely return as soon as he proves he's capable of shouldering the load behind the plate in consecutive games. He should be stashed in all fantasy formats, and when healthy, the backstop has shown capable of being a strong catching option.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud nearing return

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 09:55:36 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) appears to be seven or eight days away from returning to action. However, he needs to prove that he can catch a nine-inning game and play behind the plate on consecutive days before he is activated from the disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud should be stashed in all fantasy formats despite his slow start at the plate prior to getting injured. Kevin Plawecki will continue to see the bulk of the action for the Mets behind the plate until he returns and is worth rostering in NL-only and two-catcher leagues.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud ready to catch

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 15:41:52 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) will begin catching as early as Saturday, June 11.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud is inching closer to a return, and he should be owned and stashed in all formats at this stage. Rene Rivera has been starting most nights for New York, but his fleeting value in cavernous mixed, two-catcher and NL-only setups is nearing an end. Stay tuned for updates.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud a week from catching

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 13:07:08 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) is a week away from being able to catch during his rehab assignment.

Fantasy Tip: D'Arnaud remains a stash option in all seasonal leagues and his rehab assignment is underway, which means he has to be activated or placed back on the disabled list after 20 days. It would seem likely that he's activated in approximately two weeks. Rene Rivera has been receiving the bulk of catching duties for New York, and he is a potential grab in cavernous mixed, two-catcher and NL-only setups until d'Arnaud returns. Stay tuned for updates.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud ready to hit

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 13:17:29 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (shoulder) served as the designated hitter during an extended spring training game Friday, June 3. He will begin a rehab assignment and DH this weekend with Class A St. Lucie. D'Arnaud is not ready to catch, but the Mets view it as valuable to start receiving at-bats in the interim.

Fantasy Tip: Continue to stash d'Anaud in all seasonal leagues and remain patient with the backstop. He is clearly a long way from returning, but it is encouraging d'Arnaud is making progress. Rene Rivera has been receiving the bulk of starts behind the dish for the Mets, and he is a viable option in cavernous mixed, two-catcher and NL-only setups until d'Arnaud returns. Stay tuned for updates.
