Giants | Albert Suarez moves to 3-1 with win

Thu, 23 Jun 2016 15:24:43 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Albert Suarez improved his record to 3-1 after defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates in his start Thursday, June 23. Making his fourth career start, the rookie right-hander went five innings, yielding three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks. He also struck out six.

Fantasy Tip: Suarez has pitched past the fifth inning only once thus far in four tries, but he's contributed some decent work as well. As a result, owners in NL-only leagues seeking out a starting pitcher might want to give him a look, as he could end up being a nice, cheap source for wins. Plus, he should be able to pitch deeper into games as he gains more experience in the majors.

Giants | San Francisco finalizes weekend rotation

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 14:58:34 -0700

Updating previous reports, San Francisco Giants SPs Albert Suarez and Jake Peavy (neck) will start against the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19, respectively.

Fantasy Tip: Tampa Bay isn't a daunting matchup, but Suarez is making just his third career start, and Peavy has been a fantasy nightmare this season. Neither hurler can be started with confidence.

Giants | Albert Suarez likely for Saturday

Fri, 17 Jun 2016 13:45:42 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Albert Suarez is likely to start against the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday, June 18.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Suarez will take the rotation spot of Matt Cain, who is back on the DL. The right-hander hasn't pitched terrible with SF and allowed five earned runs in 11 1/3 innings in his two spot starts this year. Suarez has only fanned 4.3 hitters per nine innings, though, and is a deep sleeper as a matchup play in daily and NL-only leagues in the short term.
