Broncos | Demaryius Thomas' hip pain is gone

Mon, 10 Jul 2017 07:52:31 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) said the pain in his hip that bothered him last season is gone.

Fantasy Tip: DT has been declining each of the last three years, and he turns 30 late in the season. There's no reason to believe he'll return to the WR1 area after combining for 11 touchdowns the last two years, but he's a solid WR2 in fantasy.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas still going strong

Sun, 09 Jul 2017 18:30:23 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas is one of three players in NFL history with five or more consecutive seasons with at least 90 receptions and at least 1,000 yards, and he said he thinks he still has a couple of good years left.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas was able to put up solid numbers again last year despite a less-than-ideal quarterback situation, and he is a borderline WR1 with a high floor.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas hopes for quick QB decision

Fri, 07 Jul 2017 17:56:50 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas said he hopes the Broncos decide on a starting quarterback before their second preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers. QB Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch will be competing for the job when training camp begins.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas probably wants an early decision so he can build chemistry with the starting quarterback but may have to wait until after the third preseason game. Thomas will be the No. 1 receiver for the Broncos no matter the quarterback and should be considered a No. 1 or No. 2 fantasy receiver. Owners should consider the winner of the quarterback competition as a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.

Broncos | Cody Latimer needs to earn spot

Thu, 06 Jul 2017 10:27:24 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Cody Latimer might have one of the hottest seats among Broncos' wide receivers this offseason, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Jeff Legwold. WRs Carlos Henderson, Isaiah McKenzie, Bennie Fowler, Jordan Taylor and Kalif Raymond will be Latimer's main competitors for spots on the final roster behind WRs Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas misses OTAs

Tue, 30 May 2017 16:23:26 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (personal) missed organized team activities Tuesday, May 30, due to a personal issue, according to head coach Vance Joseph. Joseph expects Thomas to return to practice this week. WR Cody Latimer practiced with the first-team in Thomas's place.

Fantasy Tip: The extent of the personal issue is unknown, but Thomas is healthy and is ready to lead the Broncos in receiving again this year. He's comfortably sitting in WR2 territory despite subpar quarterback play.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas feels better than ever

Thu, 25 May 2017 14:29:32 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas said he's feeling the best he's felt in his entire career.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas hasn't missed a game in five straight seasons despite dealing with a fair share of bumps and bruises. Thomas's numbers were gaudy with Peyton Manning, but he still managed to record a season of 90 catches, 1000-plus yards and five touchdowns last year without Manning. As such, he sits comfortably in high-end WR2 territory.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas seeking more YAC

Tue, 11 Apr 2017 20:35:48 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas said one reason he is looking forward to playing under offensive coordinator Mike McCoy again is because of his more frequent use of wide receiver screen passes, which will increase his yards after the catch totals. Thomas previously ranked in the top-two among receivers in yards after the catch in 2012 and 2013, but without McCoy, those numbers dropped significantly. This past season, Thomas had 336 yards after the catch, ranking him 25th among receivers.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has been one of the steadiest receivers around, hauling in at least 90 receptions and registering more than 1,000 yards in each of the last five seasons. That's basically as consistent as it gets, but the fact remains that the seven-year veteran is coming off a campaign that saw him put up his fewest catches (90) and yards (1,083) since that streak first began. The return of McCoy figures to provide Thomas with a boost, so his stat line from a year ago could be viewed as his floor for the 2017 season.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas working on hips

Tue, 11 Apr 2017 12:16:00 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hips) said he has spent the early part of the offseason making his hips healthy. He does not need surgery, but he was not at 100 percent either. Thomas added that his hips bothered him for much of 2016 but doesn't believe they'll be an issue this year.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has been one of the most consistent wide receivers in the NFL over the last five years. A big factor in that consistency is that he has not missed a single game in those five years. In that span, he has averaged 98.4 catches, 1,374.0 yards and 9.2 touchdowns per season. Those numbers are obviously inflated somewhat because of Peyton Manning, but even last year he managed 90 catches for 1,083 yards and five scores. He's solidly in WR2 territory heading into 2017.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas remains consistent

Sat, 25 Feb 2017 21:04:26 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas ranked in the top 15 in the NFL in both receptions and receiving yards in 2016, and he has caught at least 90 passes and topped 1,000 yards in each of the last five years.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a lackluster quarterback situation, Thomas still managed to put together a solid campaign. Even if Denver's quarterback play remains shaky, you can at least count on Thomas sneaking into WR2 territory.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas held in check

Sun, 25 Dec 2016 21:09:18 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas caught three of his eight targets for 20 yards in a 33-10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, Dec. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Trevor Siemian had a bad night, and the Denver offense just couldn't move the ball. Better days should be ahead for Thomas, and he can be a WR2 against Oakland in Week 17.

Wed, 21 Dec 2016 15:33:23 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (non-injury) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has been a solid option for fantasy owners this season and has posted at least 60 yards in each of the last five games. He will continue to be one of the main targets in the passing game and can be a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver in all leagues.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas racks up 10 catches

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 19:02:13 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas posted 10 receptions for a season-high 126 yards in the Week 14 game against the Tennessee Titans. He was targeted 16 times.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas was busy in the low-scoring loss, posting his first 100-yard game since Week 3. He has been held out of the end zone in five of his past six games, however, and should be treated more as a WR2 in all fantasy formats.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas targeted 10 times

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 14:05:30 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas was targeted 10 times and finished with six catches and 61 yards Sunday, Dec. 4, in a 20-10 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: Combined with Emmanuel Sanders catching three of his nine targeted passes, it was not a good day for the Bronco receivers. Still, this game is largely a throwaway for the Broncos, who hope QB Trevor Siemian is back for Week 14.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas has one big play

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 20:35:16 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas posted five receptions for 79 yards on 10 targets in the Week 8 game against the San Diego Chargers. His stat line was helped out by a 40-yard catch.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has suffered a bit with some erratic quarterback play in Denver, a departure from when Peyton Manning was under center and Thomas was a top-flight fantasy option. This season Thomas is more of a WR2 in most fantasy formats. He faces a favorable matchup in Week 9 against the defensively challenged Raiders.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas should play in Week 8

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 13:22:25 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has been held to under 50 yards in each of the last three games but has recorded a touchdown in four of the last five games. He should be considered a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver in all leagues despite his recent numbers.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas limited again

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 16:03:28 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) was a limited participant at practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas should be good to go for Week 8 opposite the Chargers. While he was not successful the first time around versus San Diego, recording a season-low 35 receiving yards on five catches, that came with rookie Paxton Lynch under center. Trevor Siemian is back at quarterback, and Thomas will be looking to find the end zone for the second straight week.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas limited

Wed, 26 Oct 2016 15:09:48 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Track his status over the next couple days, but Thomas has scored four times in the last five games. He has been targeted 20 times over the last two games. And while his yardage hasn't been as high as desired of late, Thomas is a low-end WR1 consideration in a favorable matchup with the San Diego Chargers.

Broncos | Mediocre line for Demaryius Thomas

Mon, 24 Oct 2016 21:33:33 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas posted six grabs for 40 yards with a touchdown in the Week 7 game against the Houston Texans Monday, Oct. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has three straight mediocre yardage totals. While he has visited the end zone in four of his past five games, he hasn't looked anything close to a WR1 in fantasy leagues since Week 4. Lately Thomas resembles more of a low-end WR2, and that has a ton to do with a young quarterback learning on the job in Denver.

Broncos | Quiet night for Demaryius Thomas

Thu, 13 Oct 2016 21:16:20 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas had five catches for 35 yards and lost a fumble in a 21-13 loss to the San Diego Chargers in Week 6.

Fantasy Tip: Denver's entire offense seemed out of sync against San Diego, but Thomas has enjoyed a strong year overall. Consider him a WR2 going forward.

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 21:59:08 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas hauled in five receptions for 49 yards and a touchdown in the Week 5 game against the Atlanta Falcons. He was targeted seven times.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas fared pretty well despite the fact he had a rookie making his first NFL start while facing a tough defense. Thomas and the Broncos return on a short week at San Diego in Week 6 on Thursday night.

Fri, 07 Oct 2016 15:40:06 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Demaryius Thomas (hip) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 7, and is not on the injury report for Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas will continue be one of the top options in the passing game no matter if Trevor Siemian or Paxton Lynch starts the game. Thomas should be a solid No. 1 or No. 2 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas limited

Wed, 05 Oct 2016 15:41:18 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas should be fine for the game this week and will receive plenty of targets no matter the quarterback. He has recorded at least 90 yards in each of his last three games and should be a No. 1 or No. 2 receiver for most owners.

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 22:36:35 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas posted six receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown in Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on seven targets.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas jelled nicely with Paxton Lynch once Trevor Siemian left the game. Thomas remains a WR1 in most fantasy leagues, posting 90 or more yards in each of the past three outings.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas has 100-yard week

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 14:43:31 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas caught six passes for 100 yards and scored a touchdown in a 29-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Sept. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Combined with Emmanuel Sanders, the Broncos receiving corps had a spectacular day. Thomas should be kept active in most fantasy lineups, as he and Sanders appear to have a rapport with QB Trevor Siemian.

Fri, 23 Sep 2016 16:44:20 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) fully participated in practice Friday, Sept. 23, and is not on the injury report for Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is coming off a solid performance where he recorded 90 yards despite dealing with his injury. Owners should have Thomas in their starting lineup even though he is facing a tough Cincinnati Bengals defense.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas practices in full

Thu, 22 Sep 2016 18:23:30 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas remains a big part of Denver's passing attack, but the emphasis on the run game this year and a tough matchup against Cincinnati makes him more of a WR3 in Week 3.

Wed, 21 Sep 2016 16:14:06 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Thomas is coming off a solid Week 2 performance and should continue to be a main part of the passing game. He will be facing a tough Cincinnati Bengals secondary but can be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Broncos | Denver receivers face tough test

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 13:07:33 -0700

Denver Broncos WRs Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders face a stingy Cincinnati Bengals pass defense in Week 3. The Bengals have allowed a combined nine catches for 108 yards to New York Jets WRs Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker and Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown through the first two weeks of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Trevor Siemian has been somewhat mistake prone so far in this young season, too, which doesn't help the causes of Thomas or Sanders either. It's hard to bench either Thomas or Sanders in any given week, but lower the expectations for the standout Broncos receivers this week.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas will play

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 12:35:03 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) is officially active for the team's Week 2 game.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has been limited by a hip injury this week but will be able to play. He will be a risky option for owners because of the injury but could still be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in leagues.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas likely to play Sunday

Sun, 18 Sep 2016 07:39:13 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) is expected to play in Week 2's game against the Indianapolis Colts. However, the club wants him to participate in pregame warmups before a final decision is made.

Fantasy Tip: If he is active for the game, Thomas has a very favorable matchup versus the Colts and should be viewed as a solid WR2 or WR3 in the majority of fantasy formats.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas may be game-time decision

Sat, 17 Sep 2016 13:37:10 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) may be a game-time decision for the team's Week 2 game, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list to see if Thomas will be able to play in Week 2. He will be a solid No. 2 or No. 3 receiver if he is active, but owners should have other options ready in case he is ruled out.

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 13:34:38 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 16, and is listed as questionable for Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas likely will be able to play, but owners should check the inactive list to make sure he is active. Thomas will have a favorable matchup this week and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver for most fantasy owners.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas 'on track' for Week 2

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 10:47:57 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) appeared to look much better running routes Friday, Sept. 16, than he has at any point earlier in the week, according to Denver7 Sports' Troy Renck.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has been very limited in practice recently and expressed doubt regarding his confidence in his hip Thursday, so this is a positive development. Still, this is a tricky situation for owners, who must weigh starting him in perhaps his best matchup of the year - the Indianapolis Colts - against the possibility he could be very limited or serve as a decoy. Owners who are deep at receiver should probably consider benching him, while all others should be thrilled if they receiver something more than WR3 production.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas expects to play in pain

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 07:00:16 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) expects to play in pain in Week 2 with a hip injury that he said he has dealt with for a while.

Fantasy Tip: This may be an issue for a while, and the team doesn't have its bye week until Week 11. The matchup against the Indianapolis Colts isn't a decent one, but if you're playing DFS, it might be too much of a risk. Thomas remains a WR2 in traditional leagues.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas limited again

Thu, 15 Sep 2016 16:12:51 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) was limited in practice again Thursday, September 15. He participated in "roughly" a third of the snaps, but they were more significant ones than previous practice sessions in which he was limited.

Fantasy Tip: It's looking more likely than not that Thomas will be able to suit up in Denver's Week 2 contest, though it's certainly not a guarantee just yet. He had a relatively quiet season opener, hauling in four catches for 48 yards, and owners might have to accept those types of performances in the early going as he continues to develop chemistry with new starting quarterback Trevor Siemian.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas limited

Wed, 14 Sep 2016 16:25:30 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas should have a solid chance to play this week, but owners should monitor his practice participation. Thomas played well in Week 1 and should be a No. 2 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas to practice Wednesday

Mon, 12 Sep 2016 11:19:39 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) is "feeling better" and expected to return to practice Wednesday, Sept. 14, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas took part in "on-field work" on Monday and should be expected to play in Week 2 versus the Indianapolis Colts' depleted secondary barring a setback. While it doesn't figure to be as much of a factor this week given the Colts' defensive shortcomings, the bigger concern for Thomas and his owners figures to be a much more balanced offense that will be happy to make C.J. Anderson its centerpiece. Thomas should be considered a WR2.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas has hip injury

Sun, 11 Sep 2016 07:21:47 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (hip) underwent an MRI exam Friday, Sept. 9, after suffering a hip injury during Week 1's game against the Carolina Panthers Thursday, Sept. 8. He will receive a second opinion on his results, according to multiple sources.

Fantasy Tip: The severity of Thomas' injury is currently unknown and it is uncertain how much time he will miss, so check back frequently for updates on his status. In case of an extended absence, WR Emmanuel Sanders would serve as Denver's No. 1 receiver, with Bennie Fowler and Cody Latimer likely to see an increase in fantasy value as well.

Broncos | Quiet night for Demaryius Thomas

Thu, 08 Sep 2016 21:34:44 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas had four catches for 48 yards on six targets in a 21-20 win over the Carolina Panthers in Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas' fantasy owners may have to accept similar stat lines for the foreseeable future and deploy him as a WR3. Denver is going to be happy to lean on the run as much as possible while Trevor Siemian grows more comfortable under center.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas playing lighter

Tue, 02 Aug 2016 20:23:23 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas altered his diet during the offseason, shedding six pounds to improve his quickness and durability. His goal is to get down to 222 pounds, down from about 232 last season. "I wanted to come back a little lighter so I can get through the season," Thomas said. "Hopefully it'll help with the injuries and everything, be quick on my feet, be in better shape. I think that'll help my game."

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has an average draft position in the high 30's, making him a third-round pick in most leagues of 12 or more teams. He is a solid WR2 or top-notch flex play heading into 2016, but his value is down from previous years due to a downgrade at the quarterback position and the fact he has to share the ball more with Emmanuel Sanders.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas focused, healthy

Thu, 14 Jul 2016 21:16:03 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas said he is "feeling great" heading into training camp and will "for sure" have a better year after dealing with drops last season.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas still managed 101 catches for 1,304 yards in what was considered by some to be a down year. The quarterback situation in Denver could hurt his stock slightly, but Thomas has been one of the most reliable fantasy receivers and could creep into WR1 territory in 2016.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas fell behind last year

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 13:20:28 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas said he was thinking too much last season. Thomas missed a good portion of the 2015 offseason program while waiting for a long-term deal and his mother was set to be released from prison. Thomas said it was tough trying to catch up with the new offense after missing so much time and with his off-field life.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas won't be behind this year, but he will be playing with a new quarterback. He's a low-end WR1 to high-end WR2 consideration in fantasy drafts this offseason.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas not worried about QB

Thu, 02 Jun 2016 10:28:45 -0700

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas is not worried about the team's uncertainty at the quarterback position this offseason. "Oh we're not worried," Thomas said. "We still got time. These guys are going to be fine. Mark Sanchez has won playoff games. I can't say much about (the experience of) Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian, but they've been great so far. So we'll be fine. We got playmakers around them and coaches will put them in the right situation, and of course we've still got our great defense."

Fantasy Tip: The Broncos have plenty of weapons in the passing game and on the ground, but whoever wins this competition -- it'll most likely be Sanchez -- can't be safely considered anything more than a midrange fantasy backup. Lynch's value lies in keeper/dynasty formats for now.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas caps rough postseason

Sun, 07 Feb 2016 19:53:43 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas caught one pass for eight yards in a 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 Sunday, Feb. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas finished with seven catches for 60 yards in Denver's three playoff games, but he did haul in 105 passes for more than 1,300 yards during the regular season. At worst, he should be a high-end WR2 in 2016.

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (undisclosed) was checked out on the sidelines by doctors during Super Bowl 50 against the Carolina Panthers, but he was able to return to the game.

Broncos | Emmanuel Sanders won't face Josh Norman

Fri, 05 Feb 2016 09:53:35 -0800

Carolina Panthers CB Josh Norman said he doesn't expect to line up at all against Denver Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders in Super Bowl 50. Norman is expected to cover Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas instead.

Fantasy Tip: Thomas has six catches for 52 yards in just two playoff games this year, and he's been plagued by costly drops throughout the year. However, he finished 2015 with 105 catches for 1,304 yards and six touchdowns, so he's still a top receiving talent. But it won't be easy against Norman, who is having an All-Pro season.

Broncos | Demaryius Thomas was shut down by Pats

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 09:58:49 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas had just one catch for 36 yards against New England Patriots CB Logan Ryan in Week 12. The matchup is expected to be the same for the AFC Championship game, and Patriots CB Malcolm Butler will likely match up against WR Emmanuel Sanders.

Fantasy Tip: Don't pass up the fact that Thomas ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) caught just one of his 13 targets in that game. He should have a better performance this time out, but it's still a tough draw, and Peyton Manning hasn't been his normal self all year. At a high FantasyScore price, Thomas isn't all that attractive.

Broncos | Stay away from Demaryius Thomas?

Tue, 19 Jan 2016 19:03:04 -0800

Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas will face a New England Patriots pass defense in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24, which allowed 240.7 yards per game through the air, ranking 17th in the NFL during the regular season.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Thomas ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) is in line for a decent stat line, but considering Bill Belichick and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia go through painstaking work to take away the opposing top receiver and make others beat them, Thomas looks like a risky FantasyScore play. He managed just one grab for 36 yards in the first meeting Nov. 29. Sanders looks like the better play, as he was last week against Pittsburgh, and back in Week 11 vs. New England.
