Patriots | Martellus Bennett, Tom Brady connecting

Thu, 26 May 2016 15:44:03 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady and TE Martellus Bennett connected several times in the red zone, including some touchdowns, during organized team activities Thursday, May 26. Bennett was New England's primary tight end in practice with TE Rob Gronkowski (undisclosed) not practicing.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Gronk is healthy, Bennett will play second fiddle. Bennett could prove to be a viable red-zone threat, though, and is still worth drafting as a TE2 in his new confines.

Patriots | Key Patriots absent Thursday

Thu, 26 May 2016 15:17:29 -0700

New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (foot), RB LeGarrette Blount (knee), RB Dion Lewis (knee), WR Danny Amendola (ankle, knee) and TE Rob Gronkowski (undisclosed) did not participate in organized team activities Thursday, May 26.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots are infamous for their vague injury reports and resting of players. Obviously they're going to take caution with the players listed above, though. As long as none of these guys suffer any setbacks this offseason, they should be good to go for the start of the regular season. Edelman and Gronk should both be viewed as fantasy starters at their respective positions, with more value in PPR formats. Lewis is an RB2 candidate in PPR formats if he can stay healthy, while Blount has RB3 potential if he, too, can keep his health. Amendola is the biggest injury risk; he shouldn't be viewed as more than a low-end WR4 to high-end WR5.

Patriots | Gronk not concerned about his contract

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 10:26:51 -0700

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski said he's not concerned about his contract. "No, that's not on my mind at all. I started offseason workouts yesterday. It just feels great to be back with the team working out, getting back in football shape and getting prepared for the season."

Fantasy Tip: Gronk is signed through 2019 at pretty reduced rates in comparison to his talent level. He's the top tight end in fantasy, bar none. There doesn't seem to be much concern for a holdout right now.

Patriots | Rob Gronkowski's option to be picked up

Mon, 07 Mar 2016 05:57:28 -0800

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski will have the remainder of his $10 million option exercised before March 9. The team picked up $4 million of the $10 million in the option in August, and he's under control through the 2019 season.

Fantasy Tip: I don't think we're going out on a limb by saying Gronk is the top tight end in fantasy.

Patriots | No surgery for Rob Gronkowski

Thu, 04 Feb 2016 13:07:07 -0800

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (knee, back) did not require surgery on his knee or back, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The injuries didn't seem to impact Gronk too badly, at least in the playoffs. He should be fine for offseason activities since there's no surgery to recover from. Assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks or new ailments over the next few months, he'll be the top fantasy tight end to target next season.

Panthers | Greg Olsen excels on deep passes

Thu, 04 Feb 2016 10:25:55 -0800

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen has 22 receptions on passes thrown between 15 and 30 yards downfield in 2015 (including playoffs), the most since New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski and former New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham each had 21 in 2011.

Fantasy Tip: Gronkowski was 3-for-3 on such throws in the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos, so Olsen could be primed for a huge day in Super Bowl 50, especially since the Broncos' safeties (T.J. Ward and Darian Stewart) are both battling lower-body injuries. Olsen could easily be the most productive skill-position player on either side on Super Sunday.

Patriots | Rob Gronkowski big in loss

Sun, 24 Jan 2016 16:06:46 -0800

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski finished with eight catches for a game-high 144 yards and a touchdown in a 20-18 loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Gronkowski's big game wasn't enough to propel the Patriots to the Super Bowl, but he once again showed why he is the unquestioned top fantasy tight end in any format. His status won't change in 2016.

Patriots | Three key Patriots active Sunday

Sun, 24 Jan 2016 10:48:37 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Julian Edelman (foot) and Danny Amendola (knee) and TE Rob Gronkowski (knee, back) are all officially active for the AFC Championship against the Denver Broncos Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: There was really no doubt that these three would play despite their questionable tags. New England's passing game could be utilized early and often against the Broncos; Edelman ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) and Gronk ($8,000, 16.0%) have more upside, but Amendola ($6,100, 12.2%) is also worth a look if you're rostering a FantasyScore playoff team.

Patriots | Three Pats questionable

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 12:51:57 -0800

New England Patriots WRs Danny Amendola (knee) and Julian Edelman (foot) and TE Rob Gronkowski (knee, back) were limited in practice all week and are questionable to face the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Sunday, Jan. 24.

Fantasy Tip: All three players will suit up this weekend and could all have a big impact in the passing game. Amendola ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) might be overlooked by most and could thrive with Denver paying more attention to Edelman ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) and Gronkowski ($8,000, 16.0% of cap). It's hard not to like both Edelman and Gronk when they're healthy.

Patriots | Rob Gronkowski streaking in playoffs

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 21:16:52 -0800

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski's eight postseason touchdowns are a record for a tight end, and he has caught a touchdown in four straight postseason games.

Fantasy Tip: Gronkowski ($8,000, 16.0% of cap) is the unquestioned top tight end option at FantasysScore, and you run a big risk if you decide to fade him.
