Fri, 15 Jan 2016 11:32:40 -0800

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez avoided arbitration by signing a one-year, $5.1 million deal Friday, Jan. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez's numbers were a little rough, and he's a depth starter in AL-only formats.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez suffers loss Wednesday

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 18:21:12 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (9-12) allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits over 3 2/3 innings in a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays during the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday, Sept. 30, with three walks and three strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) was making his first start in about a month due to tendinitis in his right shoulder and looked shaky. It is uncertain if he will pitch again this season but avoid using him in FantasyScore if he does.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez activated, to start

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 10:53:54 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Sept. 29, and will start against the Toronto Blue Jays. Gonzalez initially went on the DL Sept. 4 with right shoulder tendonitis. He is 9-11 with a 4.85 ERA with eight quality starts this year in 25 starts.

Fantasy Tip: There's absolutely no reason why you should be looking to use Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) on FantasyScore against the highest-scoring team in the majors tonight.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez throws sim game

Thu, 24 Sep 2015 09:05:29 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder) threw a three-inning simulated game Wednesday, Sept. 23, and a 20-pitch bullpen session and is expected to throw another bullpen Saturday, Sept. 26.

Fantasy Tip: It's possible that Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) could return to make a start next week, but nothing is certain at this point. Don't rely on him in any fantasy format for the remainder of the year, including at FantasyScore if he makes another start.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez unlikely for this weekend

Mon, 21 Sep 2015 14:33:33 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder) is unlikely to be ready to make a start against the Boston Red Sox this weekend, according to manager Buck Showalter.

Fantasy Tip: With only two weeks left in the season, you have to wonder if Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) will even make another start this year. Don't rely on him in any fantasy baseball leagues even if he does toe the rubber again in 2015.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez to throw Sunday

Fri, 18 Sep 2015 19:44:05 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder) is expected to throw a bullpen session Sunday, Sept. 20, and he could face hitters Tuesday, Sept. 22, or Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) could return to action before the end of the regular season, so fantasy owners in AL-only and deep mixed leagues can continue to stash him. On the other hand, FantasyScore owners should avoid using him in his first start back so that he can prove his effectiveness.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez returning against BOS

Thu, 17 Sep 2015 15:06:52 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder) is scheduled to come off the disabled list to face the Boston Red Sox next week. Gonzalez is 4-0 with a 2.83 ERA in seven career games (five starts) at the Red Sox. He is 6-1 with a 3.27 ERA in 12 career games (10 starts) against the Red Sox in total.

Fantasy Tip: Despite Gonzalez's ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) history against the BoSox, it'd be a mistake to use him on FantasyScore in his first start back from injury. Gonzalez is likely to be limited pitch count-wise in his first turn back.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez eyeing return

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 13:32:02 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder) threw off flat ground Monday, Sept. 14, and he will have another throwing session soon, according to manager Buck Showalter. Showalter hopes Gonzalez can make a few starts before the end of the season.

Fantasy Tip: AL-only and cavernous mixed league owners holding out hope for Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) to return can continue to stash the Oriole. He has an uninspiring 4.85 ERA and 5.04 FIP, so he is nothing more than a matchup play in the majority of fantasy formats, including FantasyScore. You'll also likely want to see him spin a successful start before trusting him in your own lineup.

Orioles | Miguel Gonzalez to throw Monday

Sat, 12 Sep 2015 10:12:56 -0700

Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez (shoulder, elbow) said that his shoulder and elbow are both pain-free. He is scheduled to resume throwing Monday, Sept. 14, when he will play catch from a distance of 45-60 feet.

Fantasy Tip: It would take a miracle for Gonzalez ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) to return to action before the end of the regular season. He can be dropped in all fantasy formats.
