White Sox | Miguel Gonzalez likes Fenway Park

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 20:56:19 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision Monday, June 20, against the Boston Red Sox. He entered 6-1 with a 3.27 ERA against the Red Sox, and 4-0 in five starts at Fenway Park.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez has been up and down in the rotation for the White Sox, and he can only be trusted in deeper AL-only fantasy leagues.

White Sox | Miguel Gonzalez back in rotation

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 09:10:51 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez is moving back into the No. 5 starting rotation spot after the White Sox designated SP Mat Latos for assignment Thursday, June 9.

Fantasy Tip: This might be just a temporary solution, but Gonzalez looked sharp last night against the Washington Nationals, allowing only three hits and an earned run in six innings of work while striking out five. His ERA is down to 3.57 on the year, but his fantasy upside remains limited with a career 6.5 K/9. He's a perfect hurler to target in AL-only leagues if he's available, but other than that he has little appeal outside of a matchup play.

White Sox | Miguel Gonzalez defeats Washington

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 19:55:47 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez (1-1) allowed one run on three hits over six innings in a victory over the Washington Nationals Thursday, June 9, with no walks and five strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: With the win, Gonzalez snapped a personal seven-game losing streak dating back to last season with the Baltimore Orioles. He was recently named the No. 5 starter in the team's rotation but isn't worthy of being rostered outside of AL-only and deep mixed fantasy leagues.

White Sox | Miguel Gonzalez starting Thursday

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 08:55:17 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez is starting against the Washington Nationals Thursday, June 9, in place of SP Carlos Rodon (neck).

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez hasn't been terrible as a swingman for the White Sox this year with a 3.98 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 7.6 strikeouts per nine innings, but he's a very mediocre and risky streamer against a strong Nationals lineup Thursday.

White Sox | Miguel Gonzalez to make spot start

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 15:17:16 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez will make a spot start for SP Carlos Rodon (neck) his next time through.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez has had his moments in the starting rotation this year with a 3.93 ERA in six starts. However, his 1.51 WHIP and 7.6 strikeouts per nine innings don't really endear him to fantasy owners and make him a very mediocre streaming option.

White Sox | Miguel Gonzalez solid in five innings

Wed, 01 Jun 2016 16:00:44 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez received a no-decision for his effort Wednesday, June 1, versus the New York Mets. The right-hander worked five innings, yielding just one run on three hits and five walks. He also struck out four.

Fantasy Tip: Other than the high amount of walks, Gonzalez was pretty good here, though that should be expected when the Mets don't have Yoenis Cespedes in the lineup. Regardless, Gonzalez enjoyed a solid month of May, posting a 3.57 ERA in four starts, and he gets his June started off on the right foot with today's outing. At the moment, he's looking like a plus addition for teams in very deep leagues.

White Sox | Miguel Gonzalez struggles Sunday

Sun, 15 May 2016 16:05:26 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez threw 4 2/3 innings Sunday, May 15, against the New York Yankees. Gonzalez gave up three earned runs, walked five and struck out one. His earned run average is now 5.17.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez struggled in his latest turn on the mound, and you have to wonder if his hold on the fifth-starter role may be a bit tenuous. The team has said it will make a decision in a few weeks on what Gonzalez will do moving forward. You may want to skip Gonzalez accordingly, because it sounds like he is on a short leash.

White Sox | Miguel Gonzalez serving as fifth starter

Wed, 11 May 2016 18:17:44 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez is being considered the club's fifth starter for now, according to manager Robin Ventura and general manager Rick Hahn, although Hahn said that the role is "still fluid."

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez impressed the club by tossing 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Texas Rangers Monday, May 9, when he allowed one run on three hits with three walks and four strikeouts. The 31-year-old right-hander is only worth rostering in AL-only formats for the time being and will make his next start against the New York Yankees Sunday, May 15.

White Sox | Miguel Gonzalez starting Monday

Fri, 06 May 2016 14:39:02 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez will make the start for the team against the Texas Rangers Monday, May 9.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez gave up five earned runs in 5 1/3 innings in his lone start for Chicago this year. On the road against the Rangers is a dangerous place to pitch, especially for a pitcher of Gonzalez's caliber. Avoid him.

White Sox | Miguel Gonzalez struggles in start

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 20:16:18 -0700

Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez allowed five earned runs, 11 hits and two walks with six strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision Monday, April 25, against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez went 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA in two starts for Class AAA Charlotte, but he'll need to do more at the big-league level if he hopes to stick around. Right now he is only worth rostering in AL-only fantasy formats right now.
